The floorboards creaked under my feet as I slowly made my way around. I had hoped to be more silent. This was creeping me out. A new sound made me stop. Someone was crying. No. It couldn't be. I was the only one here. There hadn't lived anyone here for years. As I started walking again, I slipped and almost fell. The moonlight hit the floor close to where I was standing and some kind of liquid shone back. I was careful as I reached down. This time I was more lucky with my footing. My fingers touched something that felt like a thick liquid of sorts. Too thick. It was sticky on my fingers. I tip-toed closer to the light. Blood. This was definitely blood. From here I could actually see how big a puddle it was. It wasn't before now that I smelled the metallic scent in the air. I lifted my hand to cover my mouth. A sour taste filled my mouth and my stomach started to hurt. Hesitantly I made my way for the stairs. I wanted to get this over with as quickly as possible.
