Chapter 68

When I opened the door for Vee half an hour later, he took my breath away. Clearly, he’d had time to go home and change, because he was dressed casually—for him—in a charcoal V-neck sweater over a shirt that matched his eyes perfectly. It hugged his body in all the right places and made me want to run my hands all over him. His face was smooth and clean shaven; the scent of bergamot from his after-shave found its way into my nose and turned my knees into slackened guitar strings.

With smiling eyes, he held up an overnight bag for me to see. “I’m staying the night,” he said as a greeting.

I raised an eyebrow and tried to contain a smile, but failed. “Is that so?”

He stepped inside, pecked me on the cheek, and slipped around me, disappearing into the house. Chuckling, I followed him to see where he went.
