Chapter 26

Atticus' POV

'Fuck!!!! Why did I do that!!!' I scream out. 'Atticus calm down. We have to go get her. She's in danger out there by herself.' Cain tells me. 'I can't Cain. I hurt her. I didn't mean to Cain. I swear I didn't mean to.' I sob. 'I know brother. I know.'

I look up towards the moon and let out a heartbreaking howl. I shift back involuntarily, curling up in a ball and crying. "Atticus. Come on let's get you dressed so we can go get her." Cain says sadly lifting me up. Once on my feet I drop my head and walk towards my room.

Zaraphine's POV

'Why did you do that? I just attacked two Alphas. Do you understand that! They're gonna kill me!!' I scream at my wolf who is still running through the forest. 'Where are we even going?' I question when she doesn't answer. 'To see our mother.' She states calmly. 'No! We're not going back there!' I scream at her trying to fight for control. 'Not Esther dumbass! Our real mother.' She says. 'Our real mother? What do you mean?' 'You'll see. Just relax I know what I'm doing.' She says.

Huffing I go to the back of mind, watching through her eyes as the trees pass us by in a blur. 'I didn't want to attack them. I had to do it.' She tells me out of nowhere. 'Why? They're gonna think we hate them.' I ask. 'They will understand soon just like you.' She says. 'If you say so Mrs. All knowing.' I sarcastically spit out.

After about an hour of running she slows down and walks up to an abandoned little house. 'What is this place? We're in the middle of nowhere.' I nervously question. 'I already told you. Pay attention.' She spits out. Walking in she allows me to shift back. "Thank the goddess." I say out loud. 'There are clothes in one of the closets.' My wolf tells me.

Walking around the house looking in all of the rooms I finally find clothes. Putting them on I continue looking around. Everything inside has white cloths on them covering the items from the dust that has collected on the coverings. 'Are you sure we're in the right place?' I question. 'Yes now shut up. She's coming.' She huffs.

Rolling my eyes I walk back to the room we originally entered in. As I enter what I'm assuming is the living room a beautiful women with dark brown hair is smiling down at me. "Hello my child." She says. "Uhhh who are you?" I question raising an eyebrow. "I am Selene, Zaraphine. The Moon Goddess." "The Moon Goddess? So you're the bitch that has fucked up my life!" I spit out causing my wolf to growl in my head. I roll my eyes and look back at the moon goddess to see that she is still smiling. "Yes dear. I am so sorry for everything that you have gone through. I truly didn't mean for any of it but I'm also glad it has happened.' She states.

"You're glad! You're glad that I was beaten? That I was starved? That I was fucking raped? You're glad that my life is shit! Are you fucking kidding me! Fuck you!!" I scream out. "Zaraphine please. I understand that you're upset but let me explain." She pleads. Huffing I turn and sit down on the floor crossing my legs. "Explain." I spit out. "Okay. Well again I didn't mean for any of what happened to you to have happened. I wanted you to be strong I just didn't think they would take it as far as they did. Also you were never supposed to end up with Lakota. That was all your mothers doing." She explains. "For what? Why did you want me strong?" I question. "For you are destined to take my spot Zaraphine. You and your mate take mine and my mates place. You are to be the Moon Goddess and Atticus is to be the King."  "Excuse me?" I ask. "I'm sorry but I'm not doing that. My mate wants me dead." I say sadly.

"Ohh yeah. What happened tonight? I was watching and didn't really understand what was going on." She questions. "I don't know it was my wolf. She wouldn't let me have control." I rush out defend myself. "Ohh. Okay that makes sense. You're wolf has known about this meeting since you met Atticus. Was Atticus not going to let you leave?" She asks. "He was. He just said that he was gonna have one of his men bring me home." I explain. "Well that's why. Your wolf knew you had to come alone." She says.
