The reason

Xue Li slowly opened her eyes. For a moment she was surprised to see the unfamiliar surroundings. Then she recalled. Then she snorted, rolling her eyes.

" Miss ". A soft voice called her. A maid was standing near her, with her head bowed. Suddenly a low growl echoed. Xue rubbed her belly, with an awkward expression, " uh, I haven't eaten anything since yesterday….. ". " Madam has given instructions, Miss will have her meals in her room. These arrangements were made to lessen the burden on Miss's physique. Please wait, I'll have the meal delivered immediately ".

The girl ruffled up her hair, after the servant left. She really missed her computer, it was probably left in the hospital. Well at least she still had her phone. She quickly turned it on, and immediately notifications popped on the screen. Her finger quickly swiped down the messages logs and executed a series of taps on the corner of the phone. She grabbed a mask and a cap, putting them on.

The interface remains still for a couple of seconds then it blacked out. Then a string of codes flooded on. Xue smiled, counting on her mind. One, two, three… she clicked once, then she kept tapping according to a code. Soon on the screen a word appeared : ' welcome '. As her finger was lifted on the inbox section, the room's door was abruptly opened.

Fei Li stepped in, with a disdainful expression, glaring at her. Xue smoothly removed the mask, then turned around. Before, she was sitting with her back towards the entrance. Fei seeing no reaction from her, she felt annoyed by her calm appearance. She had the urge to disrupt that quiet smile on that face.

" Don't tell me that you believed that mom and dad bought you back to reunite the family ". Xue silently rolled her eyes. Of course she knew ! How could their behavior change so suddenly ?!

" The reason that you're enjoying yourself now, it's because you're going to marry that creepy and ugly third son of the Zhang family ! Since we're twins, no one will notice the difference, anyway ". After spitting the things out, Fei had a triumphant sneere on face.

Xue arched her brows. What ? How could that be ? She claimed that they looked alike since they were twins ?! But clearly they were like the sun and moon ? Oh, wait, the sun was literally flattering her. While she was lost in her thoughts, her sister was making a scene.

Soon a small crowd gathered outside her room, and the long awaited food had finally arrived. The maid squeezed in holding the tray tightly, but she tripped over, as she was trying to get over.

Xue narrowed her eyes, her food got wasted by that pampered twin. It seemed like her stomach had to keep starving.

The maid was flushed," second miss, please forgive me, I'll have another delivered as soon as possible ".

A cold voice interrupted the commotion, " What are you all standing here for ? Don't want to work anymore ? ". Mrs. Zhao darted her eyes on the servants, then her gaze stopped on the food and her daughter. " Fei'er, stop making a fuss, go back to your room. You know what will happen if she isn't ready in your stead ". Fei cast her eyes down, biting her lip. She angrily stomped on the floor, then left.

" Take care of this mess, now ", the woman walked in followed by a handful of people. " Little Xue, I've brought a tailor. You need new clothes. You surely can't walk around with those.. rags ".

" Mother, but I still haven't eaten. I'm hungry ". The tailor glanced at the mess on the floor, then the pitiful expression on the girl's face. She signed inwards, poor little thing. Mrs. Zhao's face darkened, that brat daring to let her lose face in front of outsiders !

She yelled at the nearest servant, " How did I instruct you ? Didn't I tell you to take good care of her ? ".

Oh, she's pushing the blame on others, thought Xue. Her eyes turned cold witnessing those happenings. As long as those were around her, she wouldn't have a moment of peace. Not even a second.

In the end, after having her fill, she went to the tailor to get her measurements. " Miss Zhao, I'm pleased to meet you. I'm Yu Mei Lin ". Mei Lin acted politely towards this miss. When she first saw her, her mouth gaped. If she had to describe her, she would say ' a hidden gem '. As she was quietly observing her features, a lot of design ideas surfaced in her mind.

" Mrs. Yu ? Mrs. ? ", a hand waved in front of her face. " Oh, sorry, I got distracted by my inspirations. Allright, I'll come back next week with the new collections ! You'll surely like them ". " Ah, then what about that booklet ? I thought I had to choose from them ". Mei shifted her gaze from those samples to Xue. " No, they don't suit you at all. Definitely not. Just wait for my new sets ".

Xue looked at that mumbling stylist that left while drawing on the notebook, who knew when and where she got it.

All the assistants acted normal, so this situation wasn't uncommon for them.

After a few hours, finally, Xue got a decent wardrobe. It was still far from enough, but it was ok for now. She picked out some clothes from the ones that Mrs. You took with her.

She lifted a rosy dress adorned with delicate lace trims. It looked quite delicate, but also so pretty. So, of course, she put it on.

Jian Yi walked around impatiently, her mother told him to send that ugly thing to meet Zhang, the third master. The one that was arranged for the marriage from the two families.

" Mother has arranged for you to meet your future husband. I just have to accompany you at the place ". Xue nodded, she couldn't escape this. Or maybe yes ?
