Battle of Ambition Part Two

It has now been twenty-seven hours since the survival round of the Grava Acadamy tournament started. In the auditorium, most of the kids have been healed and sent home, which finally allows David to sit down and rest. David slumps down into his seat and lets out a sigh of relief.

"Fucking finally, I'm done with that shit!"

As David lights his cigarette, Nixion walks up to him.

"Good job, Doc. The hard part of the survival round was much easier with you around."

"Yeah, I know, but when can I go home? Everybody in this room has had a good night's sleep but me!"

"You already know what you were getting into when I requested you to do this job."

"You're so lucky this job pays a lot."

On the other side of the room, the lower-class representatives are conversing. Mrs.Lez looks at a lower-class student walking out of the auditorium with a defeated look on his face.

"Hey, Mr.Strout it seems our plan to overwhelm the upper-class students has failed. We have seen more lower-class students return to the auditorium than upper-class students."

Mr.Baz also shows his concern by saying, "I think we may have underestimated how powerful the upper-class students are."

"Mrs.Lez and Mr.Baz I hear your concerns, but trust me, there's no need to worry. As long as we have Elias, we can't lose!"

Mr.Strout starts to cackle out loud.

"Hahaha!"

Everyone looks at Mr.Strout with annoyed expressions on their faces. Mr.Strout looks around and notices he has made the room awkward.

"My apologies."

At the same time, in the city area, Wayne is walking down a street with many scratches on his body.

"I've only fought three level one OGI users so far, and I'm already in this type of condition. I need to get stronger and find better ways to fight OGI users if I ever want to take him on in another fight.

Wayne stops walking and turns his head to the left.

"I suggest you come out. I already know you're there."

From the corner, a boy walks out. The boy is 5'5 with dark skin. He has no hair and is wearing baggy clothes.

"Well, isn't that interesting? You were able to sense me, but how? I can sense you don't have a lick of OGI, so it couldn't be the sense technique."

Wayne points to his nose.

"???"

"I have a strong sense of smell. I knew you were there by your strong odor."

"What?"

"The sweat and everything else that comes with it. I could smell it from a mile away. You could use a shower, to be honest."

The boy grits his teeth in anger after hearing Wayne's statement.

"You got a lot of nerve, you know, that kid!"

"I'm pretty sure we are the same age, and I was just trying to help you out."

"Tch, don't pity me!"

The boy looks at the scar on Wayne's head.

"Ouch, that's a huge battle scar. I'm guessing you like to fight."

"No, not really, but as a man of ambition, I fight when it's needed to reach my goals. I'm guessing you're also here to fight for your goals."

"Ha, what goals!"

"Wait, is that supposed to be a question?"

"I have no such ambition to win this little competition."

"Wait, what the hell are you here for?"

"Oh, simple, really! I'm here to ruin as many people's experiences as possible."

"Wait, is that?"

"Hehe, you seem surprised! In the lower classes, they nicknamed me Jake the saboteur! I know for a fact I'm not winning this competition, especially with people like Paul running around. So I'm going to take as many of you losers with me! You could call that my ambition if you want to."

"No, that's not ambition!"

"Oh, it's not, then what is?"

"Ambition is when you have something that constantly drives you to push forward!"

Wayne's stance becomes more solid.

"Ambition is something that keeps you alive!"

"Oh, what about my ambition? It doesn't fit that description."

"Your ambition isn't a drive; it's an excuse to make more lazy bums like you!"

"Tch, ok, then show me what real ambition is!"

Jake uses the accelerate technique to vanish and repair next to Wayne. Wayne quickly pulls adaptive ore out of his pocket and throws it between. The ore expands and puts a wall in front of Jake's punch. The ore instantly breaks.

"Come on now, man of ambition, don't tell me this is supposed to protect you!"

Wayne runs around the ore and pulls out a multi-shot double-barrel pistol. This pistol is the same as the multi-shot double-barrel shotgun, but it was made more compact and precise.

Wayne quickly points it at Jake and pulls the trigger. Jake gets shot in the shoulder and instantly backs away from Wayne.

"What type of fucking gun is that? Shouldn't that be illegal?"

"I already got it approved for this tournament. So get ready because you're fighting a man of ambition with anti-OGI weapons!"

Wayne pulls the trigger once again, but Jake quickly dodges it.

"That type of shit will only work once!"

Wayne pulls out an anti-OGI blade from his belt and quickly cuts Jake in the leg.

"Damn!"

Jake starts to back away from Wayne. Wayne continues to pursue Jake by cutting him two more times on his torso.

"Back the hell up!"

Jake starts to glow intensely. Out of thin air, a huge drill appears.

The drill tries to slam down on Wayne, but he jumps out of the way. While in mid-air, Wayne gets punched by Jake.

"Ahh!"

Wayne smacks the ground.

"You have some good equipment there, but you can't forget you're just a human! A few punches to the body should put you down for good."

Wayne looks at his health bar and sees that his health has dropped a lot just from that one punch. Wayne gets up and spits blood out of his mouth.

"That may be true, but I won't be losing to you!"

"Hehe, if you say so!"

A bunch of small and big drills appear around Jake.

"Then try avoiding my onslaught of drills."

Wayne looks around and notices that a bunch of drills are now surrounding him.

"Shit!"

Wayne starts running in the opposite direction of Jake.

"What's wrong I thought you were a man of ambition!"

The drills start to chase after Wayne.

"I can't let one of those big drills hit me, or I'm dead!"

Wayne starts avoiding the drills in any way possible. He turns many corners to attempt to lose the drills, but in the process of doing that, many of the smaller drills are hitting him. They leave gaping cuts in his skin.

"I have to keep moving before they hit a vital point!"

Wayne looks up and sees a huge drill about to slam into him.

"Crap!"

Wayne jumps back to avoid the drill. When he looks back, he sees many drills pointing at him. Jake walks over to him with a smile on his face.

"You're not that fast, you know. So how does it feel to have all that ambition but still lose huh? Yeah, it must feel terrible. dos—"

In the middle of talking, Jake hears a clicking sound.

"What the hell was that?"

"Oh, sorry, I was just strapping in!"

Wayne stands up, and Jake sees that his shoes now have skates on them.

"What!"

These skates are called the on-the-go skates made by the Sato family. These skates can be attached and detached from any shoe, but what truly makes them revolutionary is that the enhanced material allows the skates to skate at higher speeds than any product that came before them. The last small thing added to it is that the wheels on the skate are sharp and are considered an anti-OGI weapon.

After seeing Wayne skates, Jake starts to laugh hysterically.

"Haha, is that supposed to scare me?"

"I have been training with the skates way before the tournament was announced because the battle with Hunter taught me that I won't always have Lex to move me around the battlefield. So today I will test this alternative method in a real battle."

"Haha, come on now, skates, ca—"

Wayne slides under the drills surrounding him with the skates. He then jumps up and cuts Jake's leg with the wheels.

"Are you saying something?"

Jake grits his teeth and sends multiple drills at Wayne. Wayne uses the skates to gracefully dodge the incoming drills.

"That won't work anymore!"

While dodging the drills, Wayne pulls out his pistol and shoots Jake in both of his legs, which causes him to fall to his knees.

"Ahh!"

Jake looks at Wayne with an expression of anger.

"These injuries are definitely going to get me sent back to the auditorium, but if I'm going back, you're going back!"

Jake creates the biggest drill yet and shoots it at Wayne.

"You'll lose here, man of ambition!"

Wayne sees the drill coming at him and starts skating towards it.

"Oh, so you've accepted your loss! Good!"

"Yeah, not today!"

Wayne bends his knees and jumps onto the building on his right. The drill completely misses, and Jake is left in shock.

"He dodged it! But how could a person with no OGI do this?"

Jake looks to his left and sees Wayne skating towards him with a blade in his hand.

"No!"

Wayne skates right past Jake while at the same time leaving a huge slice through his stomach. Jake instantly vanishes after his health bar gets too low.

"Word of advice next time. Bigger doesn't exactly mean more effective."

"Yes, yes, well said!"

Wayne turns to his front and sees a boy clapping his hands together. The boy is 5'6 with black hair and light skin. He is wearing an expensive purple shirt alongside ripped jeans.

"Who are you, and what do you want?"

"My name is Marfumi, and I came over here looking for a strong opponent to fight since I heard a lot of commotion over here, but all I found was a weak-level zero pretending to have a chance in this competition."

"Wait, what is that supposed to mean?"

"Oh, you don't understand? Well, that adds up for a level zero like you. It's simple rea—"

With the sense technique, Marfumi senses a strong amount of OGI.

"It seems a strong opponent has finally arrived."

"What!"

Wayne looks behind him and sees someone walking down the street towards them.

"Paul?"
