Adapting To Adaptability Part One

With the match between Paul and Elias over, the battlefield was cleared for the next match.

"OK, folks, after such an exciting match, what could be up next!"

As the shuffleboard shuffles the remaining fighters, Kage looks to the other side of the stadium and sees Jason standing above the stands, looking down at the field.

The shuffle board finishes shuffling.

"And the sixth match of today will be Kage vs.Jason! Class one has been on a tear in this tournament so far, with them still having four students left. Can Jason break their momentum? We will find out soon, folks, so stay tuned!"

After the announcement of the sixth match, Kage jumps out of his seat in excitement.

"Finally!"

Kage runs to the edge of the stands. Unknown looks over to Kage in confusion.

"Bro, what the hell are you doing?"

"I've been waiting to beat Jason's ass, and I'm not waiting!"

After hearing his statement, Liz remarks, "Jason's the number one of our class; you'll need more than those energy attacks to beat him."

"I already know that! I'm not a dumbass!"

Kage jumps out of the stands and starts falling to the battlefield.

"I'm ready to fight right now!"

Unknown runs to the edge of the stands.

"Dude, what the hell are you doing!"

"I don't feel like walking through the hallways and shit, so I'm just going to jump to the battlefield instead!"

"There's a barrier between the battlefield and the crowd idiot!"

"Shit!"

Kage looks back at Unknown with a shocked expression. Kage hits the barrier between the crowd and the battlefield and falls onto the audience under him. Kage jumps off of the people he just landed on and looks at them.

"My bad it won't happen again!"

After this, Kage took the correct way to the battlefield and is now sitting in the waiting room. As he sits in the waiting room, Kage starts to think back to his last battle with Jason.

"That polite bastard caught me off guard last time, but this time will be different because I'm ready for you this time."

Kage closes his eyes and starts playing his last fight with Jason in his head over and over again. He does this for two minutes until his name is finally called.

"Coming from the right corner we have Kage!"

"Finally! It took them long enough!"

Kage runs out of the waiting room and runs to the battlefield. While hearing the cheers of the entire crowd, Kage walks to Mr.Zane.

"Now from the left corner is Jason!"

As Jason walks out of the left exit of the battlefield, the crowd cheers even louder. Kage looks around at the crowd with an annoyed expression.

"Wait, I thought I was higher on the popularity votes; why did y'all cheer louder for him!"

Kage looks back at Jason, who is walking to Mr.Zane.

"I guess these popularity votes really are bullshit!"

"Hello Kage I'm glad you're excited about our battle. I thought you would have run away."

"Run? I wouldn't run from you even if my life depended on it!"

Mr.Zane starts counting down.

"I like your confidence Kage, but please don't feel bad when you eventually lose to me."

"Ha! You act like you are so polite, but you really like to talk shit!"

"My parents always told me being competitive gets the blood flowing, and a big part of being competitive is trash talk."

"Fight!"

The second the fight starts Jason and Kage jump away from each other.

"Oh, you're not going to rush directly at me like you did last time. I see you do have the ability to learn Kage."

"Oh, shut your happy ass up already!"

Kage sends out multiple beams of energy from his hand.

"Multiple regular beams of energy I believe you used these in our last battle. Too bad they're still not fast enough to catch me."

Jason starts dodging all the energy beams coming towards him.

"Once again, you should try increasing the speed of these energy beams because that trick you used last time won't work twice."

Jason jumps to the left to dodge the huge energy beam Kage created behind him from the smaller energy beams.

"You see now that I know about it, you're so predictable."

"And once again you should shut up and pay more attention!"

The energy beam Jason just dodged curves to the left going at top speeds towards Jason.

"I see you're still full of surprises. Good job, but not quite."

Jason puts his hand on the ground and his skin starts to turn an orangish color. The ground in front of Jason rises to protect Jason from the energy blast. When the dust clears, Kage sees Jason standing with his body completely made out of rock.

"Let's see if you have any more surprises for me."

The entire ground on the right side of the battlefield flips, sending Kage flying to the left side of the field.

"What the fuck!"

Kage attempts to use energy jet to fly up but is quickly punched in the stomach by Jason who uses the ground under him to throw him into the sky. While still in mid-air, Jason kicks Kage into the flipped-up side of the battlefield. The impact of Kage's body hitting the flipped-up side of the battlefield causes it to fall back into its original place.

"Fuck that hurts!"

With the battlefield back to normal, Kage jumps up to face Jason. With his mind racing Kage gets into a fighting stance.

"That dumbass power of his!"

Kage starts to think back to when Jason defeated him with snow in the survival round.

"His power "adapt" allows him to become any element by touching the element, and once he becomes the element, he can control it. Which also means he becomes immune to the element as well."

Kage points his fist at Jason.

"I just need to keep pushing him back until he gets baited in."

Kage releases a giant shockwave of energy from his fist.

"Energy shotgun!"

Jason blocks the attack by making a wall of rock to block it. The wall breaks apart and creates a dust cloud. Jason quickly uses the cloud as a cover.

"Damn it! Come out here!"

Kage shoots out a huge blast of energy to remove the dust cloud. Jason jumps out of the way of the beam and to the left side of Kage.

"Wait, you're not made out of rock anymore!"

"Good job on being observant!"

Jason pulls out a capsule from his belt and crushes it in his hand. When he crushes the capsule his hand ignites.

"Your hand!"

"I told you I can adapt to anything!"

Jason's entire body becomes fire.

"Now you'll take this like a champ won't you!"

Jason cocks his arm back and throws a blast of fire at Kage.

"Shit!"

Kage puts up an energy barrier to block the fire.

"Oh, a defense, that's good Kage. Let me burn it down for you."

Jason increases the intensity of his fire by shooting out a blast of fire with both of his hands.

Inside the energy barrier, Kage is currently putting all his effort into keeping up the barrier.

"What the hell is with this guy? I've never met a person who can talk so much shit but still be polite about it."

Kage starts to think about the capsule Jason crushed in his hand.

"I think I saw a whole bunch of those capsules on his belt earlier. Are those things filled with a bunch of different elements? If so, that means he could switch elements whenever he wants to."

Suddenly, the flames hitting Kage's barrier disappear.

"Huh?"

Jason who is now made out of Tankish metal, uses the accelerate technique to slam through Kage's barrier.

"Damn it! That metal again!"

Jason slams into Kage's chest with his shoulder. With the flex technique applied to his leg muscles, Jason lifts Kage and runs him into the wall. Kage tries to grab Jason for an energy shot, but Jason quickly drops him while he's on the wall. When Kage lands on the ground, he sees that Jason has started shuffling his feet in every direction.

"What the hell is he doing?"

Jason slowly lifts both of his fists.

"He's going for an attack!"

Jason's right arm moves and Kage instantly puts up his arms in an attempt to cover his face.

"Oh no, it seems you left yourself wide open!"

Jason punches Kage in the stomach, causing his head to fly forward.

"And now your head is open."

Jason starts hitting Kage with an onslaught of punches to the head.

"Come on now Kage. I know you're better than this. Did you forget how to fight, or am I just trying too hard?"

"Shut the hell up!"

Kage releases a burst of energy from his body to push Jason away from him.

"Oh, interesting a burst of energy to try to push me away. Good tactic."

Jason plants his feet on the ground.

"I might be light right now thanks to the Tankish metal, but trust me, it won't be that easy to push me away."

Jason starts walking through Kage's burst of energy.

"Damn freak!"

When Jason gets close Kage puts both of his palms on his stomach.

"You should have just let me push you away! Full power energy shot!"

Kage releases a focused blast of energy from both of his palms completely leaving a crack in Jason.

Jason jumps away from Kage.

"Wow, you caught me again with that attack very im—"

Kage uses the accelerate technique to get in front of Jason, applies the flex technique to his arm muscles, and punches Jason in the face. 

"Shut your bitch ass up!"

Jason gets sent flying back and he cracks even more with the punch. Jason turns back to normal and looks at Kage, who has deep purple bruises all over his head.

"It looks like you got bruised up a little by my punches."

"Yeah, and you had to stop using that metal again, and soon you will be knocked out on the ground."

Kage rushes at Jason, and at the same time, Jason pulls out another capsule and crushes it in his hand.

"Another element! Well, it doesn't matter to me!"

As he rushes toward Jason, Kage starts shooting beams of energy at him. Jason dodges all of the energy beams, but Kage is already right in front of him.

"Rahhh!"

Kage punches Jason but his hand goes directly through him.

"He turned into water!"

Jason looks down at Kage's arm through his chest and smiles.

"Yep!"

From Jason's body, spikes of water sharp enough to stab through Kage's body are released.

"Ahhh!"

A spike of water goes through both of Kage's legs, both of his arms, and his stomach.

"I hope that doesn't hurt too bad, but question? Can you swim?"

Jason engulfs Kage in water and starts swinging him in the air.

"Just tell me when you can't hold your breath anymore!"

Inside the bubble of water, Kage tries his best to hold his breath, but after getting swung thirteen times, he opens his mouth and starts to drown.

"Oh, done already. That's too bad. Now you can go ahead and go to sleep."

Jason starts spinning Kage around in the air at a faster rate. As he gets spun around, Kage starts to lose consciousness slowly, but at the same time, he starts to once again remember his last battle with Jason. 

"This sneaky polite motherfucker and his dumbass power!"

Kage opens his eyes wide and now looks to have an expression of ferociousness.

"You're strong, Jason, but I won't lose twice! Energy manipulation:Semi-Energy Release!"

Kage releases a blast of energy from every direction, completely breaking through Jason's water. Jason, seeing the blast of energy, smiles.

"Impressive"

 Jason gets completely engulfed by the attack.

"Woah, what a huge attack from Kage! Will Jason survive it?" Mr.Brown says.

When the dust clears, it is revealed that Kage is using the recover technique to soothe his wounds, and Jason is still standing with bruises all over his body. With the battlefield in a complete wreck, the two of them stare at each other.

"You actually survived that! Bastard!"

"Yep, and I watched your battle with Dexter, and I know that move you just used uses all your remaining energy at once."

"Nope, your wrong dumbass. I used Semi-Energy release, which means I only used half of my remaining energy. You, on the other hand, might be hitting your limit."

"Yeah, I wish I knew you could drain my energy just by being in my vicinity before this fight. I would have reserved myself more."

"Hehe yeah, that wouldn't have made a difference."

Kage shoots out a beam of energy from his right hand. With the energy beam coming at him, Jason puts out his hand and smiles. The energy beam hits Jason and blows up.

"Yeah, I might be low on energy, but I'm not low on tricks."

Jason starts to glow a bright green.

"Tch, so you can adapt to energy as well!"

"Well, you're the one who ran my energy dry, so I'll just do myself a favor and become pure energy!"
