29: Too Well

"Of course, I already knew everything. Noah can't hide anything from me, Carter, not even his mate."

"Mate?"

Oh my God...

"Noah's mate?"

This can't be true, can it? Carter felt as though he was about to flip!

Noah has found his mate. And she's a vampire! A literal, blood-sucking vampire! "The prince is mated to a vampire?"

Stefani cringed, "Well, she's half vampire, actually." Stefani said, trying to lessen his worries, but it only added to Carter's shock.

"Don't tell me she's the person I'm thinking she is." He said fearfully, and the corner of Stefani's mouth twitched. Giving answers to all the questions in his mind.

Half-vampires are uncommon. So, Carter already had a person in mind when Stefani mentioned Lara had half of the vampire's blood running in her veins.

As far as Carter knows, there's only one half-breed vampire who's widely known in the supernatural world. The night creatures are aware of her existence and of her origins.

Noah pursed his lips as he watched the entire scene unfold in front of him. He's not sure whether he's amused by Stefani's enjoyment at Carter's surprise or he's irritated at them for brazenly chatting in front of him as if he weren't there.

"You realize I'm still here, right?" He said.

Noah wanted Stefani and Carter to be aware of his presence. But unfortunately, Stefani and Carter kept talking as if he wasn't there. It's as if he never talked at all. 

"Is his Majesty aware of this?"

Stefani shook her head. "No, he is not."

And she's wondering when will Noah reveal to his parents that he's mated.

"How about Seth and Tony?" Carter asked Stefani, who suddenly went into deep thought.

For now, he's one of the few people close to Noah that knew of Lara's existence. There's still his two best buds, Seth and Tony, who serves Noah as well, just like him. What will their reaction be hearing this news?

"What about us?"

"Oh, my gods!" Stefani flinched back when Seth and Tony suddenly materialized behind her. She was about to answer Carter's question, but they suddenly appeared behind her, taking her by surprise. And she's rarely surprised.

This hiding stuff is stressing her out and Seth and Tony's appearance totally shocked her to wits. What the hell are the doing here in the first place?

With Tony and Seth standing by the entrance of the clinic, Stefani went to Carter's side, whispering in his ear.

"What are they doing here?" She asked, half angry and half confused.

Carter cringed. His expression guilty as hell. He's actually the one who made this awkward scene possible. Before Noah arrived, he called the two, thinking Noah might call for them, too.

Carter sighed. Seriously, the situation just got from bad to worse.

And for Stefani, another group of clueless people has arrived.

"I'm sorry. I forgot to tell you I called for them."

Stefani gave him the sarcastic eyebrow. "Clearly," she said. 

"Why are you two acting weird?"

Suddenly, Tony inserted between Stefani and Carter, looking at them whispering like they were hiding a big secret. Stefani and Carter didn't reply, so Tony got nothing from them.

Tony turned to Noah, who just sat there, observing everything. "Your highness?"

Noah didn't respond.

Stefani secretly high-fived Carter from behind while Tony gave them a weird look.

Seth, who stood beside Tony, was observing everything too when he got a glimpse of Lara laying unconscious on the patient bed with Noah holding her hand. He thought the sight was unusual, but he didn't comment on it right away. First, he greeted Noah, "Your highness," He said with a bow. His actions reminding Tony that he hasn't greeted the prince yet.

"Oh," Tony realized his mistake and greeted Noah as well, after Seth did his.

"What are you two doing here? I was not informed of your arrival." Noah asked, which Seth responded respectfully.

"My apologies. Carter told us to come. He must have forgotten to inform you in advance before our arrival."

"Hmm." Noah droned and then gave Carter an icy, side-long glance. This surprise visit would have been avoided if he didn't forgot to inform him about it.

Knowing he did a mistake, Carter froze where he stood.

Shit.

"Your highness, may I ask, who is that?" Tony pointed at Lara. And Tony, being the guy without a filter in his brain, openly asked Noah in front of everyone.

Seth's eyes widened. He was going to ask about it for Tony later on, but as always, Tony beat him to it. Talk about picking the wrong time to drop the bomb.

"Uh, she's..." Stefani tried to answer, but nothing came out of her mouth. She looks at Noah, not knowing what to do. Seriously, Noah being mated wasn't her information to reveal. It was Stefani and Noah's right.

However, if Noah doesn't reveal her identity now, there might be a lot of misunderstandings that'll arise in the future.

Noah looked at Tony and Seth and studied their expressions. They were looking for an explanation from him and he's deciding whether he should be truthful about this. Or not...

"She's my mate." Noah answered and Carter's eyes widened. He admitted it himself!

Stefani, on one hand, sighed in relief. She's pleased that Noah didn't hide Lara's identity from Seth and Tony. They are his trusted men, so of course they deserve the truth. It's also good that it came from Noah himself. Not from her own mouth. Them, being fated mates is Lara and Noah's right to reveal. Not hers.

"His highness' mate..." Tony murmured, turning towards Stefani, who looked like she's aware of the situation. "His highness really has a mate?"

She nodded. "Yeah, he does."

"So, it's true. Our prince finally mated to a female."

Tony's words made Noah frown.

"Why do I feel like you believe her words more than mine?"

Tony shrugged. "Stefani knows you well.. she knows you too well, actually..." Tony mumbled but Noah heard him anyways.
