Handover

Lili didn't want to tell Lei until she knew it for sure, so she called her gynecologist early in the morning and got her ass to the doctor's office in the afternoon. Fortunately for her, he had free time.

And what he told her was something… unexpected for Lili. But what she expected when she had forgotten to take pills with all the stress and running around.

Walking out of the office, she was totally stunned and the first person she called wasn't Lei, but Lucy.

"I have a problem!" Lili started. She could hear music on Lucy's side and chuckled when she recognized C-LAND's song.

"What happened?" Lucy shouted into the phone and walked a bit to the side, so she would understand better.

"I'm pregnant…" Lili said, still absorbing it herself…

"What? Louder, I can't hear you," Lucy shouted over the music and Lili had to laugh. She raised her voice and repeated it once again.

"You are pregnant?!" Lucy yelled out and the song just stopped at that moment.

"Fuck.. I'll call you back. I need to go and work... Sorry, shit…" Lucy whispered and hung up promptly. Lili was laughing hard getting into her call.

She just hoped that there was no one near Lucy, at least no one that knew Lei. Lei… she should definitely call and tell Lei about it.

Lili looked at the picture from the ultrasound and saw a small bean of black and white. She should show him. Would he be happy? Or would he be upset about it? That they will have a child so early on…

No… knowing Lei and his family, they will be happy. And Lei's father will be thrilled. In all honesty, she could imagine all of Zhu long being really happy.

Lili was just three weeks in, but it would be better for her to tell Lei and stay here in Czechia for a time being.

She arrived home and breathed out. It wasn't too late in Hong Kong now, but Lei had a morning meeting. So Lili sat at the table and started cutting out the strands of fabric for the choker. It would be better to get it done and then stay home.

Lili sewed the choker on a sewing machine, but she had to sew on the beads by hand. Then make a mold or the part that had to be molded. She grabbed the ingredients and walked to the smithy her neighbor had in the village.

Lili never actually forged the parts, not even poured the molten ingredients. She didn't know how to do it, and Lili was sure she would pour it all over her. So, after being told he could make it in the evening, she walked back again.

By the time she was home, Lili knew she could call Lei. And she actually did call him, but he wasn't picking up. She was tempted to send him a message about it, but this wasn't a matter that could be explained just like that… It needed to be a video call.

Lili continued to work on the fabric and then the red heart she bought, trying to connect it. But It was stubborn and every time she bent the connecting part, it jumped out.

The time was flying, and suddenly it was dark. Lili wrote a few more messages to Lei, but maybe he was sleeping or something because he wasn't reacting. Instead, Lucy did call back and almost killed Lili with questions. Questions she couldn't answer without talking to Lei.

"I will meet Adam tomorrow and give him the choker. So I will call you right after it if I walk to Lei in the meantime. I can talk to you on the way back. At least I won't fall asleep," Lili said and chuckled. She hung up again after Lucy agreed on that.

The blacksmith neighbor popped in and Lili finally finished the necklace after polishing it. Happy to have it done, she wrote to Adam if they could meet in the morning tomorrow. And he actually agreed.

The next day, she got there a bit earlier. But she had to use the underground parking because of that, as the other parking lots were full. Lili hated parking in these narrow spots, so she let her car a bit further away, where no car was around. And messaged Lucy she arrived and messaged Lei the same thing.

They had missed each other. Lili was tired and fell asleep so hard that no one could wake her up. Not even the four calls from Lei. And when she called him back again, he was busy at work.

Lili arrived at the cafe and waited again. But after waiting for a half-hour, she got a call from Adam.

"I'm really sorry, there was a traffic jam and I can't waste more time. Could you please go to the parking lot and give it to me there? I will wait for you at F5," he asked, his voice in panic. Lili was in a good mood, so she complied with his needs. Especially when he needed to go to the hospital. The patients needed him.

It took her some time to be able to pay, but in the end, she was on her way to the F5 parking lot. Walking around for a bit, she noticed Adam waving at her from her car. By the time he got out, Lili was actually standing by the driver's door.

"I'm really sorry. I made you come here. But there is something urgent in the hospital and they need me to get there as soon as I can." Adam apologized as soon as Lili came to him. She just waved her hand and smiled at him.

"It's okay. I get it," she said, smiling. And then she passed him the box the choker was in. She actually made a painted wooden box with a velvet pillow inside, because the choker couldn't fit in anything she had.

"Thank you very much," he said and put the box directly inside his car.

"Don't you like.. wanna check it out?" Lili asked, surprised, but Adam just shook his head and smiled at her.

"I believe you did a good job," he answered, and took out the money they had agreed on. He actually gave Lili gas money too, even though she rejected it many times, saying it was a gift. In the end, Adam insisted, and Lili had to comply.

Lili thanked and then turned around to walk away. Instead, Adam caught her hand and made her turn around. She was surprised to find him putting a mask around her mouth. It was so quick she couldn't even fight back, and in a matter of seconds; she found herself falling asleep.

That fucker used anesthesia on her!
