Comfort (Depressed Lucifer x reader)

Y/N's POV

I was in my room, pacing back and forth. I was contemplating on the idea of going to Lucifer's room.

You see, Lucifer has been acting different lately, and I feel like I'm the only one who's noticed it. He's become more...distant.

Sure, he prefers things to be quiet, and gets annoyed by other easily. But this seems different than those times. I've been worrying about him.

I nodded to myself as I opened my bedroom door, feeling slightly nervous eith each step I took. By the time I got to Lucifer's door, most of my confidence w

I slowly lifted my hand up, and softly knocked on the door. Lucifer didn't answer, so I tried knocking harder.

"Come in." I heard Lucifer's voice, but I felt a small pang in my chest. He sounded tired, and maybe even a little troubled.

I opened the door, and walked inside. I immediately noticed the stacks of papers on his desk.

"Y/N? Did you need something? If not, can you please leave? I need to finish these papers." He said in a somewhat cold tone. I walked over to him, and grabbed one of the papers, grabbed one of his pens, and got down on my knees.

"I'm helping you." I simply said as I placed the piece of paper on the only free corner of the desk, and started to read through it.

"That is not necessary. I cam handle this by myself." Lucifer tried to grab the paper, but I took it before he could.

"It's not necessary for you to work on all of this alone either, so I'm staying here." I retorted. For a split second, I thought I saw a look of anguish on his face, but it dissapeared as quickly as it had appeared.

"Do what you want, but just know I will not be helping you if you have trouble with one of the papers." Lucifer sighed as he looked at the paper he was working on when I came in the room.

For the first few minutes, we sat in a comfortable silence, but then I glanced at his face. He seemed slightly down, so I decided to say something.

"Are you....feeling alright Lucifer?" He immediately nodded, which was suspicious to me.

"If you're going to help me, then please stop the idle chitchat." I could tell that he was avoiding the subject.

We continued to work in silence, and I couldn't help but glance at him every ten minutes or so, just to check on him. He was so caught up in his work that he didn't even notice my glances.

Sweat was starting to form on his forehead, and that's when I decided to say something out loud.

"Lucifer, we should take a little break." He shook his head without even looking at me. I gripped the pen I was holding a little tighter.

"We've hardly done enough work to take a break. Just leave and let me handle this myself. It doesn't matter if I'm feeling a little down at the moment, I'll finish it." He said nonchalantly. That's when it finally clicked.

I silently put down the pen, and stood up from the ground. Instead of leaving the room, I walked behind Lucifer's desk.

I swiveled his chair around somewhat forcefully, and his face was filled with surprise. I leaned down, and gave him a hug.

"W-What are you doing?" Lucifer asked. I only held him tighter, trying to release the feelings inside of the demon.

"Lucifer...you don't need to hide it anymore. If you're feeling depressed, you can always come to me." I whispered. Lucifer tensed up in my arms, which cemented my theory.

"....I see. It seems I can't keep the act in front of you." I moved away, and Lucifer brushed back his bangs. There was a great sadness in his red eyes.

It broke my heart to see him like this, so I leaned down to hug him again. I felt Lucifer hesitate a little bit, but he wrapped his arms around me.

"I know it's hard for you to open up because of your pride. But I want you to know that I'm just a call or text away.

Even if it's the middle of the night. Just know that I'll always be by your side." I felt Lucifer's chest vibrate as he chuckled softly.

"You really are an interesting human. Thank you." He whispered the last part. I loosened my hug, and smiled at him.

"No problem. Now let's take a break. I'll go get you some coffee." I left the room, and made two cups of coffee for us.

"Where are ya going with those?" Mammon says as he came out of his room. I ignored him as I headed back to Lucifer's room.

I opened the door with my foot, and closed it with my back. However, I saw an interesting sight before me. Lucifer was resting his head in his arms, and his eyes were closed.

I placed the cups of coffee aside, and smiled. I knew he was exhausted, but I didn't think it was that bad.

I kneeled down, and lightly nudged his arm. Sleeping hunched over like this isn't comfortable or good for his back.

"Hmm?" He glanced over at me, and suddenly grabbed my wrist, and stood up.

"L-Lucifer?" I stuttered and he practically dragged me over to his bed. He laid down, and pulled me close to his chest.

"You said you'd stay by my side. So you're staying by my side as I rest." He explained. I was too stunned to say anything.

I decided that it was useless to try and escape Lucifer's strong grasp, and just sighed.

I looked up at Lucifer, and he was already back asleep. I rotated to face his chest, and whispered something before falling asleep myself.

"I'll always be here for you."
