Triple Entente

"Overthrow?" Hecate asked, a look of disbelief plastered on his face.

He was casually slumped on the chair, watching Emille pace around the room frantically.

Meanwhile Donellan who would normally be enjoying a cup of tea with his son around this time was in the company of three individuals he did not want to see at the moment.

Mathias sat on the sofa in the mansion's drawing room like an obedient child not making a peep.

Donellan sighed out loud. How did my peaceful morning become this chaotic.

A couple hours earlier.....

"You guys might already be aware of the Syndicates existence but you probably don't know about the plan they are working on at the moment." Mathias said taking in the two men's expressions.

"They are planing to revolt against the king."

"Revolt? Do you guys plan on overthrowing the king?"

"There is a divide within the Syndicate on wether or not they want to rebuild an empire and have all the different countries ruled by a singular monarchy or enforce a new form of control giving the military more power over the country than the monarchy."

"So the military police is also involved?" Hecate asked.

"Not quite. If the Syndicate comes to an agreement with the second plan, than they would most likely try and gain favour with the military police, but since the MP is mostly neutral, the Syndicate is leading more towards rebuilding an empire."

"I see, well this is quite serious." Hecate said with a sly smile on his face. Emille was, at how nonchalant Hecate was being towards the situation.

"This is no laughing matter Hecate, this could pose a serious threat to the country and more importantly to-" Before Emille could finish, he was brusquely cut off by Hecate.

Realizing his blunder, Emille quickly composed himself.

"You guys must've truly lost your minds. How can you even hope to overthrow the king with so little man power? Even if you guys have the MP on your side, it still won't be enough right?"

Hecate's tone was very clearly implying that Matthias was leaving something else and that if he didn't want to rot in this cell for the rest of his life, their plans needed to be revealed quickly. His guys although playful, Matthias could tell from the look in his eyes that were dark and devoid of any humour that Hecate would not tolerate any lies.

Matthias unconsciously swallowed the saliva that had been building up in his mouth. He tried his best not to make any unnecessary moves out of fear of being found out but when facing the man in front of him, all caution was left in the winds.

Despite how nervous he felt, he wasn't going to give up on this opportunity he had landed for himself. Even if he was a seasoned warrior, he still valued his life and would do anything, whatever the means to survive.

"....I won't reveal anything until you let me see the Earl." He said.

Hecate who had a calm and nonchalant demeanour finally stood up right and faced the man seriously. His sharp eyes looked at him directly, almost piercing into him. He bent down getting on Matthias' level who was still laying on the ground.

"Listen here and listen well because I won't repeat myself. You better waste our time nor my lord's time either. One wrong move and you're finished got it?" He said, his voice laced with venom.

Matthias could tell he wasn't lying. The hairs on his neck stood in attention and the sweat that had been dripping down his face turned cold.

But despite all of that, he looked at Hecate dead in the eyes and said rather confidently: "I don't have any plans of dying just yet."

Which brings us back to the present.....

"So, who else is the Syndicate collaborating with to execute this ridiculous coup?" Donellan finally asked after being silent.

Matthias shot his head back in surprise. He was almost startled by the man's voice considering how this was the first time he had spoken since entering the room.

"Besides the military police, there's the aristocratic faction as well as..." Matthias stoped talking mid sentence.

This pause seemed to greatly annoy Emille who had been anxiously waiting for his answers. "As well as what? Don't stop mid sentence!" He yelled.

This reaction seemed to shock Donellan a little, meanwhile Hecate could barely hold in a laugh. Emille a little embarassed shot Hecate a glare before turning back to face Matthias.

"Hrm... Please stop wasting our time and get on with it."

"Right, sorry." Matthias replied back feeling a little awkward. "The noble party. Those are the groups the Syndicate is planning to ally with."

The room went silent for a second before Hecate broke said silence.

"Did you just say the noble party? As in the group belonging to Duke Ferdinand, King Asmodeus' brother?"
