Retrospective III

As soon as Simuel heard everything Mathias had to say, his mind went blank.

How else is would one's brain react to such a crazy revelation such as this one? Although his mind was in complete disarray, his outward appearance remained the same. Blank and devoid of any emotion. This took Mathias by surprise.

How has he had no reaction up until now? What was going on? Did his transmission not go through? But that couldn't be. He had a lot of confidence in his transmission skills and on top of that, the boy could hear him perfectly before.

During the time Mathias was having his own internal monologue, Simuel had time to gather his thoughts, and put together the information that had just been inputted into his brain. Given all the messed up things he's had to deal with, this wasn't the worst but it certainly wasn't the best either.

If he had been the real Simuel Grey, this could've affected him quite a bit however, Simuel was completely unaware of any of these new characters that had suddenly been introduced to him. Not only that, the person who was supposed to be his mother was a complete lunatic.

He was no stranger to neglegent parents, but this took things to a whole other level. Why did the author never feel the need to mention that Sylia was and obsessive sociopath who could torture her own child just to get her husband's attention.

This was bordering yandere territory which he wasn't a fan of.

And there were still some points he didn't understand. Prior to reading the novel and now being inside it, what happened to Sylia? Did she really die? According to the novel she wasn't around and they clearly stated she was gone but now that he thought about, it never actually said she was dead.

Also was Donellan even aware of the fact that his child was being abused? There were too many things that weren't clicking and weren't making sense.

Mathias who finally broke out of his reverie spoke out.

"Are you still wondering why I did what I did to you? Of course it's because I loved—" Simuel quickly cut him off. He didn't care for his reasons of harming an innocent child, even listening to him would seem as though he was excusing his behaviour.

"That's of no importance to me."

"You really aren't curious to know my reasons?"

"I'm pretty sure you made your intentions clear in that very drawn out explanation of yours didn't you?" This time it was Mathias didn't say anything.

"Look, it's pretty obvious that you're an imbecile whose judgements are clearly askew. You let something dumb as the love for a woman who clearly did not love you back, trick you into harming a child. You are just as delusional as my mother was. Nothing you say can excuse the atrocities you've committed. I hope you end up in the same place as that woman."

Mathias frowned upon hearing this.

"What would a child like you know about love?" He sneered.

"Not much, but it doesn't take being an adult to realize when something is toxic. What you guys had was not love."

"It doesn't matter what you think, we shall finally be together when are reunited." He said smugly.

This took Simuel aback. Either this guy doesn't know that Sylia died or he is under the delusion that he can still get her back.

But wait... how was he so sure that she was in fact dead. Donellan never talked about her, and he never felt the need to bring up a character who wasn't relevant to the plot. But now that he thought about it, this woman kept getting brought up at every turn.

"My mo— no, Sylia is dead." I said with zero ounce of sadness in my voice.

This revelation shocked Mathias. He took a good look at Simuel , as if trying to see wether or not he was lying. But why would he lie about his mother dying? Also what's with that look of complete indifference on his face? I mean this is his mother we are talking about, he thought to himself.

"I don't know where you heard that nonsense, but Sylia isn't dead. She was sent away, it's the only reason why I am here. I want to know where she is." He said feeling the anger he was trying to suppress bubble over.
