CRAZY IN LOVE 3

"Ugh! Just pick up the call, you know what? Come to this side." She said, and sat up a little. He moved closer to her seat and dropped the phone on the other seat grabbing her hand together with the steering wheel.

She moved over to the other seat, and grasped the phone, and picked up the video call. Mason’s face appeared on the screen.

"Mason! What’s the meaning of this?" she said.

"Are you surprised to see me? Were you expecting somebody else?" He teased with a smirk.

"Stop messing around and get to the point. Why are you with Peter’s phone?" she said.

"Peter is with me," he said, and turned to the screen to show Peter so she could get a glimpse of him. She gasped as soon as she saw him.

"What’s wrong with you, Mason? This isn’t you. Peter has nothing to do with this." She said.

"I know but you are the reason I am doing all this, if you had listened to me all this wouldn’t happen." He remarked and started hearing the police siren. His heart skipped a beat as he looked at the side mirror of the car.

"Wait, did you call the cops on me?" He asked, glaring at her.

"I did. You are getting out of control," she replied.

"How could you? I am not going to surrender, even if the cops chase me. I am going to wait for you to come see me." He said.

"Let me see how long you will be able to run away from the cops," she said with a smirk.

"I can’t believe Mason has gone mad because he couldn’t get you. Why doesn’t he want his wife?" Xavier said, in the background. Mason scrunched his face, hearing his remark.

"Who are you to bad-mouth me? Aren’t you the one who abandoned her a long time ago and you came back out of nowhere to ask for her hand in marriage?" Mason snarled.

"You are talking about yourself. The truth is you will never get Amber." Xavier remarked, and Amber’s facial expression changed.

"Shut your trap, you asshole." Mason threatened, gnashing his teeth in anger.

"Amber, if you don’t want things to get messy, ask the cops to go back and come and see me at Sky View Hotel, or I am going to blow Peter’s head off. Trust me, I don’t make empty threats." Mason and cut the call on her.

Peter continued driving with sweat forming on his forehead as he saw that the cops were chasing them, waving a flag for them to stop. The cops in their city were very dangerous compared to the cops in other cities.

They both heard a loud noise. It was followed by the sound of air escaping from somewhere. Mason stuck his head out of the car and saw that the cops had hit two of their tires. It’s only a matter of time until the car stops on the road. He frowned and sat back in the car.

"It looks like I can’t get out of here without being caught by the cop. Why is Amber so stubborn? Why isn’t she asking the cops to go away?" He thought and stared at the side mirror. He sighted a cop on a huge motorcycle chasing them. The motorcycle was faster than the car.

"Step on the gas!" He yelled at Peter, telling him to increase the speed of the car.

"I…I can't. I don’t want to go to jail." Peter replied in a shaky voice.

"What about your life? Step on the fucking gas stop being a chicken!" Mason yelled, hitting him on the back. Peter stepped on the gas and increased the speed of the car, but the cop on the motorcycle had already double-crossed them. He was in front of them, staring at them on his motorcycle.

"Ahh!" Peter screamed and stepped on the brake, closing his eyes.

"Don’t stop the car, run over him." Mason said, and immediately regretted saying that. He was going out of control. The devil had taken over his body. He wasn’t in control of his body anymore.

The car halted before it could get to the cop’s motorcycle. The policeman was answering a call. The other cops behind them had already stood back. Mason turned to look at them and sighed.

"It looks like she had stopped them." he thought, breathing heavily. The cop finished talking on the phone, glaring at them as he drove to them, staring at Mason through the window.

"Be careful next time, sir, and don’t drive above the speed limit. I will let this slide because you are new to this town." He said as he drove off. Mason caught his breath and realized he had removed the gun from Peter’s head. He looked at Peter with side-eyes and saw that he was terrified. He felt guilty. Peter’s phone started ringing in his pocket. He touched his pocket and slowly stared at Mason.

"Don’t worry, you can answer the call." Mason said with a tight-lipped smile. Peter took out his phone with his hands trembling and answered the call.

"I am on my way home, honey. Something came up." He muttered.

"Alright, I will be careful. Bye love you," he said, and put the phone back in his pocket.

Peter sighed and stared at Mason. "Why are you doing…all this?" he asked, breathing hard.

"I need Amber. I want her to listen to me. All this is just a misunderstanding. She is trying to get married to another man because she thinks I have abandoned her." Mason explained to him and poured out his heart to Peter, who gave him a listening ear. They were in the middle of the road but no more vehicles were passing.

"If I were Amber, I would also misunderstand the situation, but uh, I don’t think she will believe you even if you explain things to her now. If she believes you, there is nothing she can do. She has already gotten engaged to another man." Peter said.

"I hate to admit it, but you are right. But I think there is another way to get her to see the truth. I just need to talk to her." He said.
