Chapter 9

Ajax woke up feeling lethargic and a bit dizzy, no matter how many times he closed his eyes and blinked , the dizziness was not going off and his headache was still pounding like drums. He saw a creamy ceiling with a dim light that gave a relaxing and warm feeling. He felt cozy pillows around him and a warm blanket that covered his body fully.

How did I end up here... I was -was in the alley and now here... The bullies with their speed... And the boy .. Where he is.. MY BAG.. Where is it...

His thought was interrupted when the same savior of last night entered with a tray of two cups and some cupcakes.

They both stared at each for a minute.

Did he take my bag? Why is everyone after me?... Do I look like a unicorn with a rainbow on my head that every bad thing is attracted to me? Is he with that black hooded people who destroyed my village? . Will he kill me? . What will he do to me.....

"Stop thinking this much. I am not going to harm you. Your face is paler than that of a patient ., " said the boy while smiling and eating the cake he bought.

"Umm.. So nice, you should eat it is very tasty, said the boy passing a blueberry cupcake toward Ajax.

" What if there is poison in it? I don't want to, "said Ajax even if he was starving for two days.

Huh, you seem to not have eaten in a while and still refusing by making absurd excuses and that too for my favorite cupcakes that I bake personally, said the boy raising his voice a little louder.

Ajax kept quiet and like kicked puppy obeyed and ate the cupcake.

"Aww good kitty you are a very good boy, eat slowly, " said the boy.

By the way, we did not introduce ourselves to each other. My name is Xander Lee.

I don't have any family and I run a bakery. What about you, "said Xander in one breath.

My-my name is Ajax. And I also don't have a fam-family just like you and I am new here and don't have a place to live and food to eat., " Ajax spilled the beans but half of the truth. He did not find it convenient to tell everything about himself and his parents.

"Ohh okay sorry about your family. But don't you worry at all, now I am your family, your big brother okay and you can stay here with me and can help with the bakery stuff, okay? " Said Xander excitedly.

"You will give your living place and bakery to work and earn, really... To a stranger?? Asked Ajax with big doe eyes.

Xander chuckled and nodded seeing the innocent boy and his cute talks. He was too innocent of the outside cruel and inhumane world. Unknowingly Xander took the responsibility of taking care of Ajax as a brother.

Ohh I forgot what is your age? Asked Xander while passing a cup toward Ajax.

"Sixteen and what is this it is... it is bitter I don't want it ", said Ajax making weird faces.

" Drink it, it is a type of medicine you will feel better and eat these five cupcakes. And later I will give you a proper meal, these are some of my clothes, the bathroom is their wash up and come down. I will tell you more things later said Xander while going downstairs.

Ajax nodded and quickly drank the medicine. Uff that medicine is yucky!! He quickly gobbled up the cakes and washed up and wore the dresses.

Ajax was a little shorter than Xander that is he needed to fold them up and the shirt fell off his shoulders. But he still did not mind and went down.

The bakery was cute and cozy with the fresh smell of baked cake, doughnuts, the different flavors. The bakery was not giving a rich, wealthy type of feeling instead gave a warm and calming effect. There was not a normal tingle bell when you open the door instead bulbs of chocolate color in cake shapes which were present from the door's top to the counter through the sides, would light up making a beautiful color dance on the ceiling and then the counter it would end where DING! the sound would be made at the counter indicating someone entered. The bakery itself had a theme of different flavors. The counter table was of chocolate color with a cover seeming like melted chocolate on it which was soft to the touch. The computer was off-white with a creamy note-counting machine. The tables were butterscotch type made where the cloth on the table was of caramel color. The floor was of strawberry color with frosting designs on it. The ceiling was painted with faint yellow color with blue lights with light intensity making the whole bakery presentable and welcoming. Even the door was in the shape of a frappe with a straw on top from where the bulbs were attached. On the counter was an online menu from where you can select what you want and pay online. The tablets were round giving the appearance of a vanilla doughnut.

"Awesome, this bakery gives a very nice feeling, never seen one built like this. Everything is cute and the smell... Wow, it makes me more hungry. This is amazing. But the owner..... I doubt him a little if he has no family how come he has this much money to make such a pretty bakery? Let's keep my profile low before I burst out everything before him.

The Ajax who used to be naughty and who without thinking of consequences did whatever he liked and was arrogant, lazy, and did not listen to anyone was changed just within two days. Now he was thinking before speaking, observing more carefully, and learning new things. CIRCUMSTANCES DO CHANGE PEOPLE WITHIN MINUTES. IT'S SCARY.

Xander was in the kitchen baking something. When Ajax entered he quickly turned to check who was it.

"How"?

" What? Asked Xander while checking the dish on the stove.

"How did you know someone was here, I am just wearing socks and I did not make any sound, so how did you know someone was here? Asked Ajax curiously.

" Ahh... that.. I-i am always alert... I know it... Aren't you hungry, I made us some noodles and rice with curry plus some dessert for my cute little kitten, let's go said Xander while ignoring Ajax's eyes and taking the food out towards a room where only a table with two chairs was and a cupboard was present. The room was clean but too simple compared to the bakery just one step outside. The walls were solid blue in color and the ceiling white with a cupboard and some boxes kept.

"Come on you haven't eaten for two days and still you aren't hungry whereas I am starving, said Xander while placing plates.

" Ahh... Yes actually the difference caught me, "said Ajax while sitting in front of Xander starting to eat.

" What difference? Asked Xander while taking more noodles out and equally placing them on both plates.

"Umm.. It's just that -that your bakery is too fancy while...

" Don't hesitate I won't feel bad and yes the difference can easily shock anyone. But there is a reason for this. This was not originally my bakery. It was of an old man named -Alex Francisco. I came to this city when I was sixteen and that was when he offers me to work here. At that time this bakery was simple but Alex had money. He did not have any heir for the money and bakery and I was a hard worker and a good baker too so he considered me as his son and handed me his bakery after he died two years later. After that, with all the money he earned, I spent it on the renovations rather that on myself. So this storeroom is the same. But with the money I earned I renovated the upper room and converted it into the bedroom which previously was just a store room. I also bought high-tech types of equipment for my kitchen with my money. That is why the name bakery is named after my father -' Francisco Bakery', said Xander calmy while putting rice and curry on Ajax's plate.

"Ohh, you maintained it very well if your father Mr. Alex was here he would be proud of you," said Ajax feeling proud that he encountered a good person in his worst situation and internally thanking God.

"I told everything about myself now what about you, where were you living previously, and were you born an orphan, or were you made an orphan? Asked Xander with a serious face, he looked like he was checking on something but Ajax was not able to pinpoint as to what was his purpose because he changed his facial expressions and behavior within seconds like there was a switch.

"Well... Umm, what should I say and where to start, " Ajax told . He was feeling nervous about revealing himself.

Should I tell him and ask his help about who were those black hooded people... No what if he knows them and sell me to them.... Ahh.. What to do... If I kept my secret about my village and family will he kick me out... Will he not trust me to keep here.... Where will I go then.... What if he asks me about my spirit animal... I can't tell Zane to come out.... I won't do that... Also, I haven't asked about those weird powers he used yesterday night... Should I ask him.... But then again he will ask me about myself.... Uff what to do..... Trust him or tell him a lie... What to do?
