Chapter 3: Assessment
Early the next morning, Alfred arrived at the venue for the assessment. He was surprised as there were more than 100 Awakened at the venue.
When the number of Awakened had reached more than 200, Alfred and the other were led to the meeting room by a staff of the Awaken Center.
Many Awakened had gathered at the meeting room waiting for the examiner to arrive, soon more Awakened were brought into the room by staffs of the Awakened Center.
While Alfred waited for the assessment to commence, some E rank Awakened were scouting for, and recruiting F rank Awakened into their groups. An E rank Awakened approached Alfred with a smile and sat on the vacant chair between them.
He then whispered to Alfred, it seems that you overestimated yourself coming for the assessment as a F rank. Don't you know that not all Awakened here are newly Awakened, some where rejected during the last assessment, meaning that they have experience on how the assessment is.
How about joining our group, we would ensure that you become a hunter after the assessment. Before Alfred could even tell him that he was confident in his strength, a lady in high heels walk up the podium.
The noisy room suddenly feel silent as everyone was mesmerized by the lady on the stage.
She had red long hair that reached her waist, She wore a short skirt that showed her beautiful long legs, and carried along with her a katana.
The lady looked over the crowed and introduced herself.
Hi, I am Sarah, the examiner for your assessment. The total number of the examinee present for the assessment is 231. The remaining 4 Awakened that are not here have been eliminated from the assessment. She said in a stern voice.
I will be telling you the rules of the assessment that will be commencing soon. When I'm speaking, please keep quiet so as to pay attention, she said.
You are not allowed to bring any equipment that is higher than E rank, no drugs allowed, she continued.
Let me bring you to the assessment point, Sarah said as she waved her hand into the air. Suddenly, there was a tear in space as a door appeared.
Please queue up, after you pass through the spatial door, you will meet the other examiners and they are going to address you on the assessment, she informed.
Oooo! a space type awakened, some examinee exclamed when they saw the door.
Alfred became more curious about the world he was transmigrated into. Just how powerful can Awakened become if Sarah is as strong as this.
More and more people passed through the spatial door, the queue got shorter and it was finally Alfred's turn to enter.
As he stepped into the door, he felt dizzy and in the blink of an eye, he was in front of an abandoned city.
That's amazing, Alfred exclaimed.
There were staff members from the Awaken Center already waiting at the entrance of the abandoned city.
Immediately after Alfred came out of the spatial door, a staff came to him and used a machine to scan him after telling him that he was to scan Alfred to prevent examinees from bringing in equipment higher than E rank and beast carcasses to manipulate their result.
Soon, the staff members had done their job.
Most equipment and carcasses were confiscated, but Alfred had nothing to be confiscated as his storage ring was empty.
Suddenly, Sarah appeared in front of the examinees, her appearance draw their attention.
See this abandoned city in front of you. This is Emerald city, where you are going to undergo the assessment. The beast have taken over the city turning it into a beast haven.
Our Zion base will be expanding in the future and Emerald city is an important target of expansion because of its terrain, Sarah said.
(Zion base is the name of the base Alfred live in)
So we have gotten rid of all beast above E rank, what's left is a massive number of F rank and E rank beasts. That's why we chose this city for the assessment.
The assessment is simple, enter the city and kill the remaining beasts, and gouge out their hearts. You can claim the carcass of the beast you killed.
The test will last for three days.
