Reiki, Shisui, and Nozuki were well into their regular training routine when the news of their Chunin Exam participation spread throughout the ninja school.
"Reiki-san is really going to the Chunin Exams?" Might Guy asked Yuhi Kurenai with wide eyes, his admiration evident. They'd once shared the same classroom, and now Reiki was headed for the prestigious exams.
"Yeah, Tsunade-sama signed them up," Kurenai replied with a proud smile. "Uchiha Shisui and Namikaze Nozuki are also joining him. It's inspiring, and it's making me want to graduate early too!"
In the classroom, Kakashi Hatake leaned against his seat, coolly listening in before stating, "I'll definitely graduate early as a genin."
The enthusiasm was contagious, and Uchiha Obito jumped in with a determined look, "If Reiki can do it, then so can I! After all, I'm going to be Hokage one day!"
While the group's excitement grew, Sarutobi Asuma sat silently in the back, feeling a pang of frustration. His failed attempts to compete with Reiki and his growing recognition had only served to widen the gap between them. Unable to bear the scene any longer, he stood up and left the room. At home, he approached his parents with a decision to graduate early, seeking to prove himself in his own way.
Meanwhile, Reiki and Shizune noticed something unusual at the hospital. "There's been a spike in injuries here," Shizune remarked with concern.
"True. Maybe people are pushing themselves harder with the Chunin Exams coming up," Reiki replied thoughtfully, noting that Shizune's skills still needed refining. "Tonight, we'll do a special training session. You'll have this down by morning."
When they reached the training ground that afternoon, Hatake Sakumo greeted them with a peculiar expression.
"Uncle Sakumo, why so few people today?" Reiki asked, observing the scarce attendance and small number of teams left to train.
Hatake Sakumo sighed, glancing at Reiki with a slightly exasperated look. "You're really asking that?"
"Me?" Reiki replied, puzzled.
"The number of people training here has dropped because of you," Sakumo said. "With you charging for treatment, a lot of ninjas ran out of funds and have been forced to take on extra missions to earn more." He shook his head. "You're the reason they're getting hurt more frequently."
Reiki scratched his head, feeling a bit guilty. While it wasn't his intention, his actions had certainly created an unexpected ripple effect. "I'll make sure to bring back good results in the Chunin Exams," he promised with renewed determination. He couldn't let Tsunade down after all this.
Elsewhere, the Konoha gate guards were dealing with an unusual situation. A caravan, claiming to be merchants, approached with an offer that stunned the guards.
"Thirty percent off on Konoha goods?" the guard echoed, intrigued. The discount was substantial, practically close to cost after transportation. Recognizing the significance, the guard knew he'd need to report this to Hokage as soon as possible.
