Naruto: Time Traveler

MC reincarnates in the world of Naruto with ability to control time and travel back in time, that will help him survive but not make him strong directly. To climb to the top MC have to rely on his own capabilities and build up his own strength himself, as he don’t have any bloodline or exceptional talent to rely on. Story starts slow and MC will not become OP any time soon but he will work all the way up to the top eventually. If you prefer novels where MC is strong from the start – you won’t find it here. --- There will not be any harem and probably there will be no romance either, or maybe not, let’s see how story would progress. But definitely no harem! I will focus on the realism, darkness and cruelty of the shinobi world, so there will be some violence, gore and occasional unfairness, and story might be a hardcore one compared to most of the Naruto fanfics. Also, I have to admit that early chapters are bad, like first 20 chapters or so written quite poorly, but I’m improving as time goes. So, you are warned, don’t read this fanfic if it’s a problem for you. --- Updates: 5-7 chapters a week, no fixed schedule. Chapters in advance on patreon /SycoreNovels.

Training Continues, Years in the Time-Loop Passes…

After Yuta depleted his chakra flying high in the sky in the form of an eagle, he activated time-travel and went six weeks back in time, deciding to take this six weeks' time frame as his current time-loop for training.

After he came back in time Yuta went to the team-two training grounds and started practicing D-rank fireball jutsu, throwing fireballs from his mouth with the size of his head, focusing on making it faster and decreasing the amount of the hand seals needed for it.

As for why Yuta decided to train D-rank fireball jutsu instead of C-rank great fireball jutsu, that is because his goal right now to make his fire release be able to hit the target, and he prefer to work on the fireball speed rather than its size, what C-rank great fireball was represented.

At this point, having only one arm Yuta was already forced to perform chakra molding needed for his jutsus manually for half of it, so getting rid of the hand seals at all is the logical next step for him.

When he runs out of chakra, he starts practicing fire element control exercise as Koichi taught him, by grabbing a leaf and trying to burn it with his chakra, manually transforming his regular chakra into fire release chakra and controlling it.

This exercise, at least on Yuta's current low level, is not very chakra consuming, and Yuta's chakra gradually regenerates in the process.

Yuta decided to train his fire release to a satisfactory level at the very least in the current time-loop, as for his two secondary elemental affinities – water, and wind, he decided to live it for later, as training them will be harder than his primary fire affinity and Yuta didn't used any natural transformation jutsus in actual combat even once yet, so it's better to focus on one thing at a time he thought.

Days are flying by, and some other day Yuta tried to use shadow clone to speed up his training, but it turns out that it is inefficient with his current amount of chakra, as his chakra is his current bottleneck and spending it on shadow clone make him train less than without it.

With that Yuta starts slowly improving his fire release.

Days flying by, then weeks, then months…

After getting a painful experience in the fight with Tatsuko and losing an arm Yuta changed, now he has a lot less complains about shinobi training and his mind is more focused now on getting stronger to be able to properly defend himself in the shinobi world.

Yuta is no longer finding excuses for limiting his time-loop training or postponing it anymore, and finally takes it seriously. His fire style training being monotone and boring but seeing a gradual improvement with time, it motivates Yuta to continue his grind.

Then more months are passed, and time count switched to years eventually…

At some point practicing fireball jutsu, that Yuta mastered to use without a hand seals a long time ago, he shot a series of fast small fireballs from his mouth at his targets that are drawn at the big stones nearby, the series of five fireballs with the size of a fist hit their respective targets leaving black marks on the stones.

Then Yuta shot another five fireballs at the nearby tree trunks, and each fireball left a smoldering hole the size of a fist in the trunks. Yuta performed fireball jutsu one more time, shooting a one small fireball into the tree trunk and this time the fireball left a hole two times bigger the previous ones.

Then Yuta started to practice fire release control exercise trying to melt a shuriken that lies on the ground, the shuriken become extremely hot but didn't melt.

When it was dusk and Yuta was ready to go home to sleep, Koichi appeared before him. Yuta was surprised to see Koichi here, as he had already restarted this time period many times, but Koichi approached him here for the first time.

"Hey, Yuta, how is your training so far?" Koichi asked, his face is emotionless as usual, it's hard to read his mood or intentions.

"Sensei, I'm doing well recently, I have made good progress with the fire release these days" Yuta said calmly, curious to know why Koichi approached him here suddenly.

"About that, I was noticed that your fire release is improved a lot, it's almost seeming unnatural to me, how did you managed to do that?" Koichi asked Yuta looking at him attentively.

'So that is what it's all about, he knew my fire release level, and now it leagues above that. Sight, and what should I do about it, for now it's not a problem, but later when I end the time-loop, how should I explain my new abilities?'

Yuta thought without finding an answer.

'Well, I will think about that later, for now let's just restart the time-loop and train in some other place for the time being.'

Then Yuta gave some half-hearted excuse to Koichi to see how he would react, and Koichi just nodded and left without showing any signs of suspicion or any other emotions.

'Well, at least he wouldn't restrict and interrogate me on the spot for my unnatural growth, that's a relief.'

Yuta thought while activating his time travel just to be safe.

After that Yuta started train in the forest of death, he spent a lot of time there before, when he was practicing bird transformation, and he was never confronted back then, so Yuta decided that it's the best place to not draw any unwanted attention.

'Well, there is still Hiruzen with his spying jutsu, so if I will be confronted by Koichi this time too, I will know that Hiruzen does spy on me.'

Yuta continues his training, time passes, and in this loop, Koichi never confronted him, so he decides that he was left alone during this time frame and it's likely that no one is spying on him.

Months continue to pass unnoticed, and Yuta continues to train his fire release, but currently his growth in it starts to diminish, and further improve in it becomes harder and harder.

Yuta tried a lot of different things and changed his training routine a couple times, thinking that this might fix the issue, but it did not, and Yuta realized that soon he will have to end his fire release training for the time being, as further improve it requires more and more time.

For a few more loops Yuta was thinking about continuing his fire release training to go from months and years to decades to polish it to absolute maximum, but soon he decides not to do such thing, as the benefits would be gradually diminishing, and time needed will grow exponentially. So, Yuta decided to stop his fire release training soon, and return to it once more after a few years of objective time or so.

After a few more months of training Yuta realized that his progress has slowed down a lot, and he decided to stop his fire release training for the time being.

'Well then, what to do next I wonder, I'm doing so great this time and actually not really tired from training, maybe I should continue with nature transformation while I'm at it and train my wind or water release as well, who knows when I would find a suitable time for the time-loop later.

Should I train water or wind release? Probably water, as fire lacks defensive capabilities, and wind also are good at offensive but not as good at defense as water release.

I can rely on Kawarimi and Shunshin jutsu for avoiding enemy attacks for the time being, but later having a good offensive and defensive elemental jutsus is essential in my opinion, fire is good at offensive and water is the second-best defensive element after earth, and I doesn't have any affinity with earth element, so water it is.

And then in the future I can train the wind release to make some combination attack jutsu with my fire and wind releases to further improve my offensive abilities, but this will wait, as I don't have tons of chakra yet to use something expensive as combination attacks all by myself anyway.'

With that thought Yuta started to train his water release the same way he done it for fire release, but this time it was water balls that Yuta was trying to make smaller, faster, and decrease the hand seals requirements. And for the water release control training he conjures and controls a small amount of water with his chakra, transforming his regular chakra into water release chakra.

Weeks are passing by, then months, and finally years…

Yuta was gradually transforming his D-rank water ball jutsu into something completely different, as now he shots a series of small and fast water bullets from his mouth, up to ten of them at a time, which make holes in the tree trunks with the depth of up to twenty centimeters (8 inches).

And this time Yuta also hit a soft ceiling in growth of his water release abilities.

After a few more months trying his best to further improve at it he decided to stop at some point and find something else to do.

'Should I start with the wind now? With how it's going now, I easily can improve all basic nature transformation to this level in this time-loop… Hmm, I probably shouldn't, at least not now, it's already being years since I started, I don't want to spend decades and centuries like that, this years-long training is already changing me little by little, I should use it wisely and do not exaggerate my staying in the time-loop too much, as it starts to affect my mentality already and not in a good way…'
