Chapter 64 : Tree Climbing

Standing in front of one of the trees that was located in the backyard of his home, Kai inspected it thoroughly to see if it was an ideal tree for his tree climbing practice.

Looking at the straight posture the tree had and not many branches on it that were going to obscure the path, he thought it was going to be his ideal tree for his tree climbing practice.

After he was discharged from the hospital after that incident his mother was still in the phase of overprotective mother in the past few days, after all it was his mother's first time seeing his son that badly hurt since he was born.

So when his mother was outside Ōmu was assigned to watch over him in the past few days to make sure he did not wander around.

"What do you think Ōmu, do you think I can do it?."

Kai asked while moving his eyes from the top of the tree to his parrot that was already landing on his shoulder.

"Master Kai I believe you can do it, just make sure not to try to go so high or mother is going to scold me if you get hurt."

"Don't worry Ōmu I also don't want to get scolded by my mother, you can wait in one of the tree branches while I was training."

Kai asked his parrot while he was getting ready for his practice. After seeing his parrot leave his shoulder to one of tree branches that he was going to climb, Kai started channeling the chakra from his stomach to his legs.

He could feel that the consumption of the chakra was much larger than when he was training Leaf concentration exercise, which also means he only has a limited amount of time during his training.

Raising his right leg, Kai took his first step to the body of the tree but he didn't feel the sticky feeling that his father described the moment his feet were touching the tree like what his father briefly explained about tree climbing practice.

After remembering words from his father teaching, Kai put more chakra into his feet until he feels sticky feeling that his father described and made sure to remember the amount in his brain,

Finally finding the perfect amount of chakra, Kai channeled the exact amount of chakra to his other leg who also followed suit to the body of the tree.

He was left in a horizontal position where he supported his upper body with both of his hands that were still holding the ground.

Slowly he retreats his hand from supporting his upper body and only using his stomach muscles alone to stay in a horizontal position that feels really new to him seeing the world from this angle.

With careful movement Kai started advancing upward toward the top and each step he took he felt strain in his body because he needed to support his entire body with a single point in one of his legs while defying gravity.

Halfway there he decided he needs to stop his step from keep advancing, he doesn't want his parrot who is already getting restless to get scolded if something happens to him, it is also for his own safety after all he cannot fly if something unexpected happened.

"Don't worry Ōmu, I keep my promise."

"What do you think Ōmu, am I alr…"

Before he could finish his sentence Kai noticed his chakra getting depleted and went back to the ground with a hurried step and when he was 1 foot away from the ground his chakra was run out that made him fall to the ground because he lost his grip.

"Master Kai, are you alright?"

"I'm okay Ōmu."

Kai said with an embarrassed tone in his voice while giving thumbs up to his parrot who was flying towards him and was panicked about his condition.

Turning his body around from facing the ground Kai lay on his back resting his body while thinking about what just happened.

From that short time he was trying tree climbing he noticed some things that he now learned from his first try.

It was better to be quick while doing tree climbing on his current chakra reserve, because the consumption of the chakra when he supports his entire body on a single leg is larger than when he uses both of his legs because the strains were much bigger.

Also he almost forgot the most important thing while using chakra is to stay concentrated, he needed to put all of his concentration to reserve his chakra because of the limited amount of chakra that he currently had.

Kai rested his body while talking to his parrot to pass the time while he was recovering his chakra to continue his tree climbing practice.

After more trial and error and also with the help of some of his regeneration skills that keep his body in prime condition Kai finally adapted to the tree climbing practice and grasped the basic principles.

Without him noticing the afternoon already coming with the sign of the sun getting more orange Kai decided to go back inside the home and clean his body before his mother arrived.

He also already finished his repeatable mission for today. What he needs to do for the next training is to make the chakra consumption more manageable in his current chakra reserve.

And maybe next week he will be allowed to go to his school when he shows his father his chakra control level that he is pretty sure he was really good at for his first week.
