Chapter 2 - Meeting Minato Namikaze

The next day, Kagami found himself staring at a blonde-haired teen. His dark eyes staring up at him as his blue eyes stared back. All with recognition flashing through his eyes as he didn't expect his neighbor to be Minato Namikaze.

Since the Third Great Shinobi War Officially kicked off during the time he was born. It was very rare for his neighbor to be home. So it was quite the surprise to see the rising star and future Fourth Hokage.

While a few thoughts ran through his mind, Kagami was curious about how old Minato was at the moment. The teen in front of him appeared to be around eighteen or nineteen. Plus Minato's name has been fairly popular lately from what Taiyō's said.

"I should be back in a few hours, Minato. During this time, he shouldn't cause you much trouble." Taiyō said as he opened the door.

After dropping a few coins in Minato's hands in case both wanted a snack and didn't like what was in the fridge or cabinets. Taiyō finally left to visit his old friend with a small hum in his lips.

One more look at Minato, Kagami decided to work on his unique mechanical clock. It wasn't that he didn't want to interact with Minato, but he didn't have much to say to him. He couldn't even mobilize his own chakra, and he hasn't even formally learned about chakra.

'Is this considered to be too smart for one's own good?' Kagami randomly thought for a moment until his hand picked up the first piece.

--

Unlike his future son, Naruto, Kagami found Minato to be a fairly quiet person. Besides a few questions and a small introduction, the two didn't really communicate much. So after Minato watched Kagami building something with a bunch of cogs, shafts and metal pieces he didn't understand. He began working on his own thing which allowed Kagami to come to a weird discovery.

Fuinjutsu.

To him, it triggered his mechanical affinity yet at the same time it didn't. He didn't know why or if it was an issue, but it left him stumped. If he had to explain the closest he could compare it too was being able to read, but unable to speak or write the language. However, even that wasn't exactly it, so that is why he was stumped by the sudden issue.

Minato soon noticed Kagami's weird gaze and assumed he was curious about what he was doing. So not seeing any harm in it as he will soon learn what it is upon entering the academy. Minato decided to explain it.

"It's Fuinjutsu, a branch few learn past the basics." Minato said.

Kagami nodded, but pointed to a scroll. "There is an error here, there is a loop in the sequence, thus shortening the range the user can expand it. Unless one wants to forcefully expand it with…chakra?"

Minato blinked before looking at what Kagami pointed at and just blinked. In the next fifteen minutes, Kagami watched Minato flash through various expressions and eyes glowing as he began furious writing on a paper.

"Are you being taught fuinjutsu?" Minato asked.

Kagami shook his head.

"Then how did you know?" Minato asked, wanting to know the answer.

Kagami rubbed his chin for a moment, "Instincts?"

Minato frowned as he didn't believe him and decided to run a few tests. After writing a few simple seals like storage or the like. He made a few errors here and there and passed it to Kagami to point out all the errors.

One by one, Kagami reviewed the seals in his hands and pointed out all the errors he could find. However, Minato, whose eyes grew heavier as Kagami went on, soon saw light. He figured out that while Kagami could read fuinjutsu, he didn't know how to write or improve them.

'Great, he is just like a debugger and not some ancient fuinjutsu being reincarnated.' Minato sighed happily to himself.

Only what Minato didn't notice was due to giving Kagami different seals to examine. Kagami began to understand fuinjutsu to a small degree. As well, gain a few pieces to the Flying Thunder God Technique.

Not wanting to allow this boy talent to go to waste, Minato pulled out a couple books from his pocket. They were the basics of fuinjutsu he carried in case he needed a reference. Then he passed them to Kagami.

"Basics of Fuinjutsu and Uzumaki Basics." Kagami blinked, but was interested.

Sadly, Kagami found himself torn between reading these books and working on his mechanical clock. His mind and body was interested in reading these books, but his desire to build the clock was great too. So, he decided to read the books first as his memories were impressive and the Science Notes will store it also so he could just reference back if needed.

Hence, time flew by with Taiyō returning after a couple hours.

--

While Kagami tinkered away at the clock, Minato stepped outside with Taiyō. After closing the door, Minato looked at Taiyō.

"So you discovered it too." Taiyō started.

"His incredible talent? He probably outpaces my girlfriend in fuinjutsu and she is an Uzumaki."

Taiyō nodded only slightly surprised, but he always knew that Kagami was talented. Which kind of four year old can fix clocks like many well known experts?

"Since he is so talented, I can't wait to see what kind of shinobi he will be in the future." Minato added.

"I feel he will go to unimaginable heights." Taiyō said.

--

That night, like most nights as Kagami was going to bed, Taiyō sat in a chair. He would tell stories about the antics of Hashirama Senju or his brother would get up too. From how Hashirama was a cheerful guy who loved friendly competitions, meeting new people and gambling. To how Tobirama had to pick up or straighten out his brother when he got carried away in something.

This time the story was about the time Hashirama wanted to throw a taijutsu tournament in the village. However, upon learning that he wanted to join in, the idea was forgotten nearly instantly. For many dared not face him even when limited to taijutsu.
