Chapter 30

Meanwhile in the location of the battlefield, various shinobi belonging to different noble families had arrived at the scene where they were met with sight of the ruins of a battlefield. The ground where the fire clones and explosion tags had exploded was still smoking on the verge of turning to magma which showed just how hot the flames of Yuu's fire clones boosted by the explosion tags had been. It was no wonder many ninja died under that attack.

"What the hell happened here?" asked one of the ninja belonging to the Kiata clan.

"Judging by the number of footprints and their depth, it would seem that approximately 20 ninja were here." Said another ninja belonging to the Takkaku clan.

"Judging by the orientation of the footprints they appear to have been in a circular formation which indicated that they were guarding themselves against something or someone however I can't find traces of the supposed attackers." Said the Takkaku clan ninja.

"Are you sure this was done by multiple attackers? It could have also been done by a single powerful shinobi" reasoned another ninja to which the rest of them agreed hence they simply left the status and number of the attacker/attackers as anonymous.

They spent the next half an hour combing the battlefield however other than a few splatters of blood here and there, they weren't able to find much. Even the ashes of the burned shinobi had been scattered by Yuu before he left so there was truly nothing salvageable. Having not found much, they all decided to retreat back to Asaki to report their various findings to their clans.

Two days later, a large squad of 20 shinobi arrived in Asaki. They were under disguise as a merchant caravan from the land of Earth. As soon as they passed the entrance inspection of the city they entered and rented multiple rooms in a large Inn where they all rested. Later that night under the cover of darkness they quickly donned their weapons and after sounding a flute signal that couldn't be heard by human beings they headed towards the forest outside the city.

However when they arrived at the designated rendezvous point they were shocked to find the place looked like a battlefield with multiple craters and black earth.

They quickly inspected the area however all they were able to deduce was that there was a battle here and judging by the fact that their fellow shinobi nor the nobleman they were allied with had arrived at their designated meet up point, they were all able to deduce that whatever battle had occurred here three days ago had resulted in the death of their spy shinobi and their allied nobleman.

"What do we do now Captain" asked one of the high level jonin in the team.

The captain, an elite jonin, thought for a few seconds before replying "We still continue with the plan. We'll simply pick someone from Tsutsui Taro's faction to be the new leader of Asaki when we take over. Tsutsui was always someone replaceable so his death doesn't affect the mission."

All the other shinobi present nodded. They returned to the city however this time they each rented different rooms in different areas in the city using disguises.

The next two days nothing happened however on the third day, news spread that a noble in the city alongside his entire family had been murdered. Even the guards guarding them hadn't been spared.

The next day another noble was found dead along with his family and guards. This one was a famous noble who led the Takizaki family in the city. A large family with great roots and heritage in the land of waterfalls.

This time the death of the Takizaki noble frightened the rest of the nobles who quickly sent out mission request for a guard detail to the land of Fire and the land of Earth which were the lands containing the two closest villages. Unfortunately, by the time more shinobi arrived at the scene, two more days had passed and three more nobles and their families had been slaughtered. However, their killing streak was about to end.

On a dark stormy night in the city of Asaki, a shinobi could be seen running on the rooftops of the city's buildings, his footsteps silent and graceful producing not a single sound as he ran at high speeds. The man soon arrived outside a noble residence where he spotted more than a dozen shinobi sneaking towards the area. 

'it would seem that their next target is the Takkaki clan nobles' thought the man on a nearby rooftop The man was actually Yuu in disguise using the transformation technique.

Yuu had been investigating the attacks that been occurring over the past few days and finally he had managed to narrow down the suspected next attack locations to six residences belonging to noble families of Asaki.

He had then sent shadow clones to each of these locations where they kept watch while hidden from sight using genjutsu and after a few nights of constant vigilance, his clones had spotted at least a dozen shinobi rushing towards the Takkaki residence under the concealment of the darkness of the night. His clones had then dispelled themselves sending their information back to Yuu who immediately headed towards the residence bringing him to now where he currently stood on a nearby rooftop.

Yuu observed as at least a dozen shinobi wearing masks rushed into the Takkaki residence after which he heard the sound of blades clashing and flesh being sliced and torn apart.

'Better get started...' thought Yuu as he leapt off the rooftop advancing towards the compound. Within the compound he came across bodies of both shinobi and civilians littering the floor. Yuu advanced further inwards, his feet walking across the pool of blood beneath him yet making no sound at all.

Soon he came across an ongoing battle between 15 shinobi. Judging by their attire 9 of these shinobi were Takkaki shinobi who were currently facing off against 6 masked shinobi who despite being outnumbered were currently pushing back against their opponents. Soon one of the masked shinobi managed to run his sword through the stomach of a Takkaki jonin severely injuring him. The Takkaki ninja gasped in pain as he immediately covered his stomach wound with one hand while quickly retreating backwards in an attempt to get behind the cover of his companions however how could the masked shinobi allow his opponent to escape so easily.
