Chapter 28

Yuu, still in disguise, moved closer in order to hear their conservation.

"Hello Tsutsui Taro, how have you been?" greeted a large man who stepped forward from the group. Judging by his demeanour as well as the behaviour of his companions, it would seem that he was the leader.

The noble, whose name was Tsutsui Taro, merely clicked his tongue refusing to response to the large man's greetings, instead showing extreme irritation and dissatisfaction which was noticed by the large man.

"Oh come on, no need to be so glum. I already apologized didn't I. Even you should know that for shinobi, missions tend to not go as planned." Said the large man

"That still doesn't excuse you for what you did!" yelled Tsutsui with anger visible "Because of you, the rest of the nobles have become wary making the plan much harder to accomplish."

"I already told you it couldn't be helped. Who would have expected that there would be such a strong high level jonin guarding one of our targets. If I hadn't had my teammates alongside me, I most certainly would have been severely injured if not killed. Luckily, we were able to deal with him however the damage had already been done. Our battle ended up creating too much noise which alerted the nobles to their already growing suspicions."

"One of my men managed to gather intel that a mission has already been issued by the Hidden Leaf to discover and deal with us" said the large man.

On seeing the worried Tsutsui's expression, the large man proceeded to console him. "However, there is no need to worry as although out forces currently consist of 5 Jonin and 11 Chunin, I have sent a letter requesting for reinforcement just as a precaution. This mission after all is too important to our village after all." Said the large man.

The large man's aim was achieved as Tsutsui seemed to calm down at his words, the thought of reinforcements soothing his raging headache.

"How long will It take the reinforcements to arrive?" asked Tsutsui, his expression no longer rageful now merely a mix of anxiety and a bit of excitement. His dream of taking over the capital Asaki and ruling the land of Waterfalls was now so close that he could almost taste it hence his hopes were riding on the capability of Furuya Isao 'the large man', the rest of his team and the arriving backup as the stronger they were the higher the probability of success.

"They should arrive in three days, two days if they run here non-stop" said Furuya.

"Very well," said Tsutsui, his mind clouded with thoughts "For now we should lay low until reinforcements arrive after which we can proceed with the eradication of the rest of the nobles not part of my faction at an even faster rate with the newly added help."

Furuya nodded in agreement after which they bade goodbye to each other. Just as they were about to turn around and part ways, they were surprised to see the head of a Jonin soar into the air. For a moment time seemed to freeze as everyone stared in shock and horror as the head of a Jonin sailed across the air before thudding and rolling softly on the ground. For a second, no one moved, simply captivated by the gushing fountain of blood erupting from the headless corpse belonging to a Jonin standing by Tsutsui's side.

That's right. The head belonged to the high level Jonin guarding Tsutsui and the most powerful member of his guard unit.

'A high level Jonin just died without any of us sensing anything' is what everyone present thought as a cold chill travelled down their spines.

As they were frozen in shock, another attack occurred, this time causing the two heads of members of Furuya's team to detach from their necks and fall on the ground. The two heads belonged to a woman and man who were both a Jonin and Chunin respectively. The death of three ninjas woke Furuya and the rest from their dazed state.

"Everyone gather around in a defensive formation!" shouted Furuya to which his team immediately responded by forming a circle formation with Tsutsui and three ninjas inside, two Jonin and one Chunin.

"Search for the intruders!" commanded Furuya to which the three ninja inside the circle nodded immediately expanding their chakra sensory fields in search of any nearby ninja. It turns out that these three ninja were sensory ninjas which was why they were assigned the centre position which would allow them to be more protected allowing them to focus on sensing their enemies.

After a few quick seconds, one of the three sensors and the strongest sensor of them all spoke in a solemn "I'm sorry Leader, our sensory fields were unable to detect anything"

Furuya frowned at the female sensor's report 'since they can't find anything It means that either the ninja is attacking us from outside the sensor's range which is not possible considering my sensor's sensory range is around 4km and the attack slashes on the beheaded ninjas' necks belong to a sword which means that it's the other possibility. It would seem that our enemy possesses the capability to mask their chakra from our sensors and considering the fact that we didn't even see anything in the following attacks means that the enemy is also capable of camouflage.'

Furuya expression became grim at this thought. He couldn't help but question if their opponent was a Fuinjutsu user. After all he had heard that Fuinjutsu masters could use seals capable of concealing their chakra as well as reduce their presence though whether they could turn themselves invisible was something he doubted they were capable of, otherwise the already powerful Fuinjutsu Grandmasters would be basically invincible and everyone would be trying to become a Fuinjutsu ninja.

'So if it isn't Fuinjutsu then there is only one other explanation.'

'...Our enemy possesses a Kekei Genkai!'

At this realization, Furuya quickly alerted his teammates of his findings causing the already weary shinobi to become even more tense as they tightened their guard. Now that they knew the enemy had a Kekei Genkai related to invisibility, Furuya had already concocted and shared his plan on dealing with their enemy.

After having killed three ninjas, Yuu retreated onto a nearby tree where he gazed coldly at the ninja below who were gathered in a circle formation. He didn't know what plan these ninjas had made when they took this formation hence he decided to test the waters. He quickly created a shadow clone using as little chakra as possible and using even more chakra, he concealed its movements as it rushed towards a Jonin part of the circle formation ahead.

The shadow clone brandished a short sword as it quickly sliced through the neck of the shinobi resulting in yet another easy kill however as soon as the blade sliced into the Jonin's neck, the ninjas on the immediate left and right side of the recently killed Jonin immediately attacked the space in front of the dead Jonin using their Jutsus.
