Something’s off (The Count)

A noise. A murmur. Then silence.

I awake, yet again, from another deep slumber. Yet, this time more annoyed than confused.

I opened my eyes to still be blinded by a white light. However, this time the light had been dimmed to a point that I wasn’t leaking bloody tears.

I tried to move slightly by lifting my head and immediately regretted it. A throbbing sensations flooded my mind and I immediately felt like throwing up. I could feel bile forming in my throat as I rested my head on whatever I lay on.

“What the hell is going on,” I thought.

Questions raced through my mind. Questions that I had no answer to. Questions that I was afraid to answer.

“Who are they?” I thought. “What do they want? Why couldn’t they have just left me down there to rot?”

I couldn’t keep up with my thoughts. My mind was fractured; more than it already was.

“This wasn’t natural,” I thought, “Something is wrong. I can’t think straight.”

My mind continued to hound me as I continued to lay on my back.

My body was now numb. My eyesight blurred.

Suddenly, a small figure steps into the frame of my vision. Shrouded by light, I can’t make out feature, except for their hair. It was long and a very vibrant red. The color popped with rest of the whit atmosphere around me.

Strangely, the sight of the hair calmed my mind. Thoughts were more coherent and now I could actually think.

“Magic,” I hissed.

Of course it’s magic. Why am I surprised? I shouldn’t be. You’d have to be a fucking magician to find me in the first place.

“Magician,” I hissed silently

The figure drew closer and the closer it got the more I noticed. The figure looked familiar. It looked extremely familiar…. In all the wrong ways. I could feel my body growing anxious.

“Who are you?” I muttered.

My mind might have been more pieced together; however, it still throbbed, immensely.

“In due time,” the figure said. The voice was soft and soothing like a lullaby. It was beautiful… and enchanted. Sadly, I was already under its spell.

“We need to talk,” it said.

I didn’t like where this was going.

“I want to know why she sent you,” She asked. “I want to know why that dragged you her…. I want to know who you are.”
