Chapter 89 Angelus Guild
The sun rays coming from the window is the only light source this room has at the moment. The room is decorated with different armors. Some of it are noticeably battle worn as it still has scratches and burn marks. Some are almost never seen the light of the battlefield.
Sitting at the corner of the room is an old man that's writing something at a piece of scroll using a quill. Every now and then he touches the long scar in his face as if he's recalling something.
*Thud, thud, thud*
His focus was disturbed by a knock that's coming from the door in front of him. As much as he wanted to hide the irritation that was caused by this knocking, his face betrays him.
"Come in!" the old man said still trying to remain calm and compose.
The door quickly open the moment the old man utters the command. A young elf that's panting comes inside the room. The elf tries hard to say what in his mind however the old man in front of him raise his hand and order him to breathe slowly and compose himself first.
After calming down and a final deep breath, the elf finally took out a scroll and proceed to read the contents of it.
"The reports that came from our scout that is located near the abandoned cathedral came earlier this morning." the young elf announced.
"Proceed." the old man ordered.
"The scouts saw three of our newly hired guild members head inside the abandoned cathedral. Their intention was not disclosed and they used false information at our registry to hide it. The three members were River, Phraan and Ryder. All are under the same superior which is Roark." the young elf explained after composing himself.
"Aren't they too low leveled to venture at that location?" the old man asked.
"That's correct guild leader. The scouts also said that they saw them goes down deeper at the basement." the young elf added.
Alger eyes widened at the news that the young elf delivered. He is fully aware of the difference in levels between the monster from the abandoned cathedral and the three newly hired members. However he have no idea what they're trying to achieve by venturing in an almost impossible place for them.
Alger just audibly release a sigh of exasperation and wave his hand, a sign to let the young elf messenger to continue with the report.
The young elf that's already used to Alger's mannerism proceed to continue with his report.
"The scouts also see a golden carriage coming from Lavierre Kingdom. Albeit not 100% sure they think that the carriage is from the Angelus Guild and Siegfried amongst the people inside that carriage." the young elf continues.
Alger jaw drops at the second news to the point it almost looks cartoony.
"You should've lead with that!" Alger shouted. "What's a God's Chosen gonna do in that place?" he askingly added.
The old man hurriedly head towards out side the room and without stopping he goes at the back area where their guild stable is located.
"Good day! Guild master!" the groom that's cleaning one of the horse stops what he's doing and greeted Alger upon seeing his guild master.
The old man ignore the groom and hurriedly mounts one of the available horses.
"I will be going first. Tell the elite members to follow me at the summit." Alger ordered.
The groom made a salute before following his order.
The second news that prompt his actions takes priority at the moment. The fact that a God's Chosen crosses the border made him anxious and he is not sure what's the repercussion of this event once the Protector knows of this news.
The summit where he is going is a place where the Protector of Zirracania made her home. That place also houses almost all of the most wanted criminals in all of Zirracania. Since Camilla is also being detained there, Alger needs to warn the Protector about the movement from the Lavierre Kingdom.
One of the unfortunate news he received prior that he wishes to not be true is someone from their alliance kidnapped the second prince which made Camilla move at the first place.
Sweats started running down at the old man's forehead just thinking all of the what ifs.
