Chapter Seven

KADE

"How about after getting your things unpacked, we go out to dinner?" I asked as we headed to Ace's room. We had been hanging out with Noah for a few hours.

My mate looked nervous and played with his hands but nodded. "Yea, that'll be nice."

'I wish I could know what was going on in his head.' I thought

'We could know if we mated him. Just think of him under-'

"So, tell me," I said cutting Conan off from finishing his sentence. "Do you have any special dates coming up? Birthday? Anniversary?" I asked Ace. We had made it to his room and I held the door open for him.

He walked into the room with a smile. "I almost forgot. My birthday is in a few weeks. May 16th to be exact. No anniversaries." He said putting a bag on the bed. I was pleased to learn more about my mate.

He began to unpack so I made myself busy with helping hang up his shirts. Because he had so little, it only took us thirty minutes to get everything put away.

"We can get you some more stuff if you want. Anything you want." I said

"I don't want to be a burden, plus I'm not sure if I'll be here much longer after I turn eighteen and have enough money." It felt like my heart with hit with ice at his words.

I smiled calmly and said "Don't be afraid to stay as long as you'd like. There is no rush for you to leave. Go ahead and get ready for dinner and I'll meet you downstairs." I left once he agreed.

"We're here," I said getting out of the car, before Ace could get his own door open I opened it for him. He blushed as he got out of the car.

I was taking him to a restaurant called 'What a Wolf can eat and more'. It was a buffet that was owned by a pack member named Susan and her family.

"So, where will we be eating tonight?" Ace asked looking at the many different restaurants in front of us.

I smiled and led us toward Susan's place. "It's a buffet that serves a little of everything. I figured it'd be a safe place since I don't know what kind of things you like." I opened the door for him causing him to blush again.

There was a small line of people at the host stand, all waiting to be seated. As we were waiting a little voice yelled from further inside the restaurant. "Alpha! Alpha! Pick me up! Pick me up!" Aiden yelled running toward us. His giggles made a grin grow on my face. Aiden was a four-year-old boy with short brown hair, chubby cheeks, and eyes that shined with happiness despite all he'd been through.

When he got to me I lifted him up above my head causing him to laugh louder. I lowered him down to hold him at my side, "Aiden, this is Ace. Ace, this little guy right here is Aiden. He is being fostered by Susan." I said looking at Ace, who looked happily at Aiden. I turned to Aiden and whispered in his little ear, "Ace is my mate. Can you keep that a secret?"

Aiden giggled and put a finger to his lips and 'shh'ed me with a smile. I set Aiden down at our feet, he held a tiny hand to Ace and said "Hi Mister! I Aiden, I was thinkin' that we play cars?"

"I would love to if you're allowed." Ace smiled down at him causing Aiden to jump on him for a hug.

"Aiden! What have I told you about wandering off?" Susan said worriedly as she ran up to us.

"I can't get taken wif Alpha 'round! He would punch those baddies!" Aiden exclaimed while throwing his fist forward like he was punching someone.

'I'm with a human, please call me Mr. Smith. It's one thing for Aiden to do it, but for an adult.' I quickly mind-linked to Susan.

"Mr. Smith! I'm so sorry, I didn't realize that you were standing in line. Please follow me and I'll seat you right away." She said giving me a slight bow.

"But there are so many people in front of us. It doesn't seem right." Ace whispered to me as we followed Susan and Aiden.

"It's alright Ace, don't worry about it. It's a normal thing here and as long as I'm here no one can mess with you." I said pulling his seat out for him, he blushed again for the fourth time that night.

"What drinks can I get you tonight?" Susan asked

I told her the drinks that we'd like while watching Aiden. He pushed a chair next to Ace's so that they were right up against each other. He struggled with it but he managed to get in the seat and asked for chocolate milk.

"Aiden, I'm sure that Mr. Smith and his date wouldn't want you to join them," She said softly trying to get him out of the chair. As soon as her hand touched him, he screamed and clung to Ace. Ace warped his arms around him and calmed him down quickly.

I smiled at them walked around the table and crouched to Aiden's level, "If you go with her now, then maybe later we could have a sleepover. Wouldn't that be fun? Playing games all night long, eating junk food, all of it! Whatever you want!" I said, Aiden slowly nodded but didn't let go until I gently tugged him off and handed him to Susan.

"I'm so sorry Sir, please forgive us for not teaching him to show respect. It's just that he has been through so much and we didn't want to put too much pressure on him and-" I cut her off by putting a hand on her shoulder.

"I promise that it's fine. I enjoy spending time with Aiden and I'm sure that Ace will take a liking to him in no time." I said while Ace nodded in agreement.
