The Price of Protection
"Be sure to come home." That was all Larkin said before the knight carried him away from the danger zone. However, Artie felt like her entire body froze at those words. Her eyes lifted and watched the two retreat to a distance away from the edge of the ravine where she was.
Artie got to her feet and faced the glass spirits that were trying to do the same in the distance. The only one who couldn't stand anymore was the one with a broken belly. She then looked down the ravine and saw the crumbling debris rolling down the depths of the cliff. When her previous life was ending, this was also the sight before her eyes as she fell to her death.
