Chapter 6 – Dinner at a Restaurant

Third person POV

Saturday came, and for Mariya, it was a perfect day to take Hoshi for dinner at a restaurant. Also, it was the end of the month, and so was her payday. She saved up enough money for a monthly dinner out at a casual restaurant. So, she worked a lot at the hospital while waiting for her shift to be over, which was 6:55 p.m. She always comes home before or at 7:30 p.m. Hoshi, meanwhile, did nothing all day long but study, watch TV, play video games, read books, and write in his journal.

And then, once she came home, Mariya changed in her casual clothes.

 "Hoshi-kun!" she called.

Her younger brother responded by leaving his room. "Yes? Are you home, onee-san?"

"Change your clothes," she returned. "Let's go out to eat."

 "Oh, okay. I'll be back."

Hoshi then hurriedly went back to his room to change his clothes. He knows this will happen at the end of the month.

Later, they left the house and went out in the city. Mariya knows a restaurant near the station.

"So, where are we gonna eat?" Hoshi asked her.

"I know one restaurant," responded Mariya back. "This will be different from last month."

"Is that so?" the youngster raised an eyebrow for a few seconds.

The evening was peaceful, except for the passing vehicles because they were walking down the sidewalk near a busy street.

Not long after, they arrived at that restaurant, which was an Italian one, and they entered in. Hoshi was amazed by the fancy-looking interior and expensive-looking interior. But in reality, those pieces of furniture are a bit cheaper than he thought. Both siblings then went to find a table for two. They did, and that one is next to a window. Then, a waiter came and gave them two menus before leaving. They then looked at the menu and began choosing for dinner. The atmosphere around them are quite busy and hectic.

"So, what would you like?" Mariya asked Hoshi.

Still choosing, Hoshi replied, "I don't know. They looked so delicious. I would like a lasagna with garlic bread, as well as some iced tea for drinks.

"Okay, I'll get their carbonara and a basket of French fries with ketchup."

"Ooh, I would like some, ate!"

And so, they called a waiter to list down their order.

The waiter did so and said to them, "Okay, your order will be in 15 minutes." Once again, the same waiter who gave them the menus hurriedly left their table.

Later, at 7:35 p.m., their order came, hot and fresh, and they are now eating.

 "So, how's school?" Mariya started.

"It's fine," answered Hoshi while munching on the French fries. "Fine as usual."

But, Mariya noticed his gloomy expression. "Um, are you not feeling well?"

The youngster then stopped eating and glanced at her. "Yes?"

 "Are you not feeling well?"

 "N-No, I'm fine, onee-san!"

Hoshi then washed his food down his throat with a glass of iced tea. He only consumed one-quarter of the glass though.

"Don't tell me you heard a bad rumor again that makes you gloomy!"

But, Hoshi couldn't hide that rumor passed by Bokuto, so he just admitted it to his loving older sister.

Moments later, Mariya was very surprised to hear that. "A fight?"

Her younger brother then nodded. "Yes, and it seems that person was looking for someone. I'm worried for Kuro-kun as well."

Because of this, his ever-loving older sister processed the information and agreed with him, promising to be with him when that happens, as her common defense and coping mechanism after their father died, and had no one to take care of them in Nara City. Their grandparents and relatives on their mother's side all resided in Osaka, and both siblings don't want to give up their inherited home in Nara City either. Back then, they relied on their father's inheritance to survive before Mariya graduated from medical school and started working. Hoshi, meanwhile, never works part-time or gets an extra income since the mortgage for their home is low and very affordable. Seeing that his older sister, Hoshi smiled slightly. "Thanks, ate. You're so protective of me ever since Papa died." After that, they continued eating their delicious dinner.

But, Sha was spying on them using his shadow magic that allows him to be hidden from plain sight. He plans to lure Hoshi and kill him. But, how?
