Chapter 23: Denial

Luci’s POV:

Gavin led me down the hall to the third door from the right.

“Don’t expect too much,” Gavin said as he unlocked the door.

He raised his hand for me to go in first. Once I got inside, I realized what he meant.

I’d only seen places like this in minimalist videos online. As I looked around, I noticed he had all the necessities but there wasn’t much else.

He had a large couch that doubled as a futon that sat across from the television with a gaming console hooked up to it along with a glass coffee table and a work desk that was bare except for a laptop and a pile of textbooks.

There was one piece that stood out next to the couch and it was a beautiful mahogany bookcase that was filled to the brim with books.

Gavin flipped the switch that turned on a dim light in the kitchen area that spread out to the living room.

“You have a nice place,” I said as I took my shoes off at the door.
