Chapter 14: Don’t Fight It
Luci’s POV:
When the AC from the humanities building greeted me, it shook me from my stupor.
I hardly remembered the walk over from where I took the call. My mind was going a mile a minute trying to sort out my best options to deal with my father and Alex.
I looked up to see Gavin holding the door open for me.
Had he walked with me in silence all the way here?
That must have been uncomfortable for him. I felt bad that Gavin was dealing with me going through drama, which was the last thing I wanted him to think about.
He didn’t ask me about the call the entire time we walked together. I’m sure he had questions, it would have been natural. So why didn’t he ask me?
The building was livelier than I thought it’d be as students started filing down the staircase and headed for the exit.
“What time is it?” I asked as I looked back at Gavin.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. He tapped the screen and nodded as he put it back in his pocket.
