Sezy

Removing the mask on my face, I wipe out the tears before I wore the mask. Looking around the place, I checked if there was anyone around.

Someone who must have seen me wiping the tears from my face.

But I saw no one. Aside from the music coming from the house, I heard no noise at all. Everywhere was quiet.

"This is it, Lee. It's time to party all the way. No need to think about the future, just enjoy your day to the fullest. You can think about the future after his." Giving myself the pep talk, I walk to the stairs.

No bouncer was at the door when I came to stand in front of the door. I stood there, not knowing what to do.

Should I open the door and walk in, or should I stand here until the door bouncer comes in?

As this is my first time being here, I just don't know what to do. I want to avoid messing things up today.

"Are you going in, or do you prefer staying outside?" Someone asked behind me.

Turning to the voice, I gave the pink masked male a look.

I had to stiffly laugh as I did so, For fear of making him angry.

But it's too damn funny seeing a male with a pink mask.

Why will he go for bright colours when there are more masculine masks like mine around?

"So, what are you doing outside here?" He asked again, this time in a rather impatient voice.

"I want to enter, but I don't know how to do so."

"Oh darling," closing the gap between us, he came to a stop in front of me. "Today's your first day here, isn't it?" He placed a hand on my shoulders.

"Yes."

I nod.

I don't see anything productive in lying. He might likely be of help to me if I'm to say the truth.

"Any partner in there?" His tone this time sounds gossipy.

"Nah." I frantically shook my poor head.

Aside from Sly, I've had no partners.

"Good, now you have me as a partner." He links his arm with mine. "Am Sezy by the way, what's your name?"

"Lys." I gave the man a once over. Sezy indeed.

He went overboard with his so-called Sexiness. The suit he's putting on I cut tightly, the slack looking like it's near being ripped should he so much as bend.

His blonde hair made him stand out more if the clothes haven't already done that.

"Lys? Is that your real name?"

"Nah. Lys is not my real name, it's my cover name."

I see no use in telling him Lys is also my husband's name.

I'm here to escape from reality, and not to still dwell on reality.

"The name is dope. Wish I thought of it when I was asked to choose a name."

"Nah, the Sexiness of our name makes you sexier," I smirk.

"Thanks." He squeals in a not so masculine voice.

Had I not been speaking with him, I would have thought he was a female who happened to be in male clothing.

"You're welcome."

"So Lys, I think it's time to introduce you to a new whole world. A world you can do just anything without getting exposed."

"I see."

Linking our arms together, he opened the door and led me inside.

"Wow."

Was the first word that escaped my mouth as I look around the place. Dumbstruck by not only the beauty of the place, but the people in it.

This place looks like it was cut from a movie. The getup, the decorations and the loud classic music playing from wherever it is it's playing from.

This looks like a classic ballroom. There's nothing different between this room and the ones I've watched in movies.

It seems the owner of this place made it look exactly like the ballroom in movies.

Most of the couples are dancing, their mask on their face as they danced their life out.

Those who aren't dancing are either sitting on the cushions or speaking with someone.

The bar area is also filled with those who're more in the mood to drink than socialize or dance.

"Wow right?" Sezy asked, "I thought so on my first day here."

"It's more than wow." I gasp when my eyes landed on the dessert table. "Don't tell me I am seeing exactly what I think I am seeing." I held his suit, tugging it a little, I keep my eyes focused on that Ray of sunshine.

The entire place is more than I expected it to be, but the one that took my breath out the most is the table of goodies.

"And I landed myself with a foodie." Sezy sighed.

"It's okay if you want to avoid staying with me, but I am going over there to have some sweet things, and after which, I'll dance."

Dancing was the first on my mind until my eyes landed on the goodies.

Sly never allowed me to take more than a needed amount of sweet things each day, that's why seeing an entire table of sweet things made me happy I came here.

If I didn't achieve anything, at least my table of goodies is worth coming here.

"And you think I am going to abandon the only friend I have here? Come to one, Lys, you're stuck with me." Dragging me like a little child, he rushes to walk to the table of goodies.

"I thought you want to dance and mingle."

"With whom? I've been here for like a month now, and I've not met a friend. The females here act like they're goddesses of a sort, while the males act as if they have a stick up their arse. No, I've not met a friend until you came along."

"That's not bad. In some ways, I'm happy I met you. I thought I'll be the only odd number here."

Sezy might not know this, but he saved me from the awkwardness that would have taken over me if I had been the only one that walked through that door.

He might think I saved him, but of the truth, he's the one who saved me.
