HOW TO WOO A GIRL

"Hi." Bernice greeted Melody.

"Hi. I'm Melody you can just call me Mel for short."

"Bernice. I don't have a nickname unfortunately." Bernice said still smiling brightly,"I love your eyes."

"Oh, really?" Melody asked shyly and Bernice nodded her head vigorously while maintaining intense eye contact,"Thanks."

"Welcome. Are you guys dating?" Bernice asked wriggling her brows playfully and I heard Melody's heart rate increase and I'm sure Bernice heard it too.

"No. We're just friends." I said and I saw how disappointed Melody looked,"I need to take a shower."

Bernice realized that she had created an awkward atmosphere and just let me leave.

"I didn't mean to make things....awkward." Bernice said to Melody once I was out of the room.

"You didn't do anything so don't worry." Melody responded.

"Where are you off to now?" I heard David as from behind me.

"To take a shower." I answered not looking at him.

He followed me into my room but I didn't ask him why he did. He sat down on the bed as I started to take my shirt off.

"Were you married?" he asked suddenly.

"Almost. She died." I answered not dwelling on the topic.

"Then you know how to woo a girl?" he asked hopefully.

"To some extent, yes. Is there a special someone?"

He blushed and then smiled like a little child and my eyes widened seeing him act so.... adorable. David was always stoic with his expressions so seeing this was a pleasant surprise. I must share the joy! Forget about the shower, I need back up!

"Wait right there." I told him and his smile fell as he watched me run to the door.

I went to find Michael and Ray immediately and I was glad that they were in Michael's room.

"Why are you walking around half naked?" Ray asked contorting his face like he was disgusted.

"I was going to take a shower but then David came to ask me to help him impress a girl." I said excitedly.

"A girl?!" the asked in unison jumping off the bed.

I nodded my head and they run out the room to mine. David looked like he felt betrayed after seeing that I had brought his brothers.

"So you confided in Dee instead of your twin." Michael said smiling brightly at David,"Is it who I think it is?"

"Who?" Ray and I asked at the same time.

"Close the door you fools." David pleaded in a panic.

I shut the door and sat on the floor in front of David. Ray sat on my left and Michael on my right while an uncomfortable David sat on the bed.

"We are all men here go on." Ray urged him,"How can I get a girlfriend if my older brother is shy to even speak to fellow men."

"It's Virginia." David started.

"I knew it." Michael said triumphantly as he crossed his hands across his chest.

"That really chatty brunette I saw last month?" Ray asked to have the boys nod and I could only listen because I had no idea who they were talking about,"She looks like someone who is approachable."

"Approachable but lacks concentration. I don't think I've ever finished ten sentences in any of our conversations. She just jumps in and changes the topic like I wasn't even saying anything." David complained.

"Bruh, it's literally just three words; I like you." Michael interjected.

"He can't just walk up to her and say 'hey, I like you." Ray said in a matter of fact way.

"Shut up. It worked on my girl." Michael said in a tone that made it obvious that he was bragging.

"Then what should I do?" David asked almost pleading.

"What does she like?" I asked.

"She likes a lot of things." David answered like it wasn't obvious to the rest of us.

"Things like what?" I asked again.

"Flowers, butterflies, children, poems, singing, dancing, guitars and pianos, star gazing, swimming, football, chocolate, the beach, cabins, romance novels and many other things that I can remember when I see her."

"Has she ever talked about a guy when she was with you." Michael asked and David shook his head,"Good."

"You said she can't concentrate but most of the things you said she likes take a lot of concentration to do or enjoy." I pointed out.

He looked dumbstruck and lost for a few seconds.

"Maybe she would listen to you if you talked about some of those things so you have a shared area of interest." I continued,"It might be why she changes topics so quickly because she's looking for something you enjoy too."

"I don't know why but you are making a lot of sense lil bro." Michael said rubbing his chin.

He just doesn't seem to understand that I'm older than him.

"He's older than you Mike." David pointed out.

"I know I just like the death glare he sends me when I call him that." Michael said,"And it's revenge for him always calling me by my full name. I bet he's doing right now in his mind."

"Yes I am Michael." I responded.

The door opened and we all turned to look at who had come in. I was Sam with a plate with sliced pineapple.

"Did I disturb something?" he asked with narrowed eyes,"It's very unusual to see all four of my boys like this especially with David leading."

"Leading?" David asked them he realized that he did look like he was heading a meeting,"It just looks like that but I'm not leading. Dee is."

"What?!" I asked,"No one is leading. We were just having....."

"A guys' talk." Michael finished.

"Let me in on that." Sam said and before anyone could protest he closed the door and locked it then he sat on the bed while David joined us on the floor,"Let's go."

"Shouldn't you be with Mr Guilder or something?" Ray asked.

"Nope. They left a while ago. Pineapple anyone?"

The room fell silent with only Sam's loud chewing being heard.

"Let me guess." Sam started and he let his eyes sweep over us and they stopped on David,"You got a crush on that brunette and you were asking these three for advice."

I'm impressed. He figured it out so quickly. David looked embarrassed and he couldn't maintain eye contact with Sam so he looked down.

"I can't believe you didn't come to me kiddo. I'm your dad."

"And totally not romantic." Michael mumbled under his breath.

"I heard that kiddo. If I wasn't romantic your mom wouldn't be so in love with me."

I agree with Sam. His and Bella's relationship is one to be envied.

"Just pour out your heart and let her decide if she's gonna take a sip of it's contents. If it goes well she be drinking from it every day for the rest of her life."

"You make it sound like cannibalism." David said smiling.

"Do you think you can do it in person?" Sam asked.

"No. I can call her if that's okay."

"I want it on speaker though."

David nodded and took his phone out of his pocket. He dialed her number with shaky hands and we waited for her to pick up.

"Hello!" came the vibrant and energetic voice of Virginia.

"Hi." David said with a shaky voice then he cleared his throat quickly,"Sorry I had a bit of saliva down my throat."

"That's okay you sounded kinda cute."

David turned pink instantly and Sam couldn't contain himself so he joined us on the floor to shake David's hand,"So what's up?"

"I wanted to tell you something important." David said firmly.

"I'm walking by your house so I could come....."

"No!" David shouted and he rushed to the window to see her,"Stay there I can see you."

We went to kneel next to him and peeped from the side and I could see the girl standing by the gate wearing a white shirt and leather pants and boots. She spotted David at the window and waved at him probably unable to see us from her angle.

"Okay. I'll listen from here if you are uncomfortable facing me." she said.

"Promise you won't cut in while I speak." David said nervously as he placed his hand on the glass as if he was touching her.

"I promise."

"Do you remember the time I tried to run from home?" he asked.

"You tried....." Sam started but he was quickly pinned down by Ray and Michael and they dragged him a little bit away from David.

"What was that?" Virginia asked.

"You promised." David reminded her.

"Sorry. I do remember. That was when I first met you."

"2nd November, 2020."

"Woah....you remember the exact date?! That's cool."

"You looked so beautiful that Monday afternoon. I can still remember how brightly your eyes were shinning when I said I wanted to leave home because you wanted to runaway some day too. But for some reason you told me it would be ten times better to run with a companion. The only reason I came back was because I wanted to make you my companion and maybe because I was worried about mum."

David stopped to take deep breaths and I could hear Virginia breathing just as deeply through the phone.

"I've liked you every moment since then, Virginia. I've watched you to know you better so I could treat you better than anyone else."

"You have..... you've treated me better than anyone ever has Day. I....I like you too, a lot more now than ever."

David dropped his phone and run out to go to Virginia. Sam and the boys came to the window to see what was happening and when David hugged her we started hugging as well. Then he kissed her and Michael opened the window so we could started cheering.

"You won't yell at him will you?" I asked Sam.

"No. But he'll definitely be upset with us for disturbing their kiss." Sam answered.
