GETTING READY TO SPY

"What is a camera?" I asked them confused.

They both turned to look at me like they didn't know how to explain it. They looked at each other then at me and Rose was the one to speak.

"It....it's a...thing that's used to like...uh...watch people's move....ments."

Watch people? As fairies we don't watch people who don't want to be watched. The humans are a very peculiar species indeed.

"I know it's weird but you'll get used to it. Every important building has cameras so you'll be watched a lot and I advise that you get used to it right now. Be careful what you do public and when you're alone." Rose added awkwardly and Rilili nodded in affirmation.

It is strange how she was speaking like she didn't do anything. I mean if I was to be caught then she would be in trouble too. With how much warning they are giving me I'm sure the existence of fairies is not something humans will take lightly.

"So does that mean even when you use the toilet you're being watched?" I asked them in realization that the cameras wouldn't hide anything.

"Pretty much." Rilili said shrugging,"I don't think they watch that though unless a creep is on duty of course. Argh.....some people are just disgusting...." she stuck out her tongue at the end.

"Look here, that's not what we are talking about and it's not as important as dealing with the footage." Rose said annoyed as she stood by the door.

"We are still talking about cameras, right?" I asked because of the sudden mention of 'footage'.

"Yes we are." they both answered.

"Then what's footage?" I asked still confused.

They frowned and sighed in sync and left to go to the main room. I followed them there feeling the pants I had on tighten every time I moved my legs. The door was quite low so I had to bend a little bit before getting out. The two girls wrapped some black clothes around their lower faces and I wondered why they did so but I didn't ask.

"Come on." Rilili whispered and the clothe made her voice sound muffled.

"We should just disconnect the cameras in here because I don't think we can hide some like him anywhere in this room." Rose said sounding suffocated.

"Yeah. Dude, you're so tall." Rilili commented with her arms crossed as she supported her weight on one leg.

Rose nodded and then moved closer to whisper into Rilili's ear but I heard what she said,"Just my type."

"Ohh yeah....!" Rilili whisper screamed.

"Shall we?" I asked feeling left out and impatient.

"He should stay for the time being." Rose said suddenly serious.

"Why?" Rilili and I asked equally surprised.

"He's huge and tall and muscular and wearing a girl's PJs! If anyone sees him they'll think his trafficking girls and not to forget Mr Wilbur's on patrol. We are on a school trip so we can't just move around you know?"

I don't know what she's saying or trying to say but I think it's making sense because Rilili nodded in agreement. I don't want to stay here!

"What if this Wilbur man comes here, then?" I asked because it was a possibility and also a good excuse for me to follow.

"Well you can't come dressed in that either. I guess I'll have to go and ask for some clothes." Rose said sighing.

"What will you tell them if they ask you what the clothes are for?" Rilili asked.

"I'll just say I lost my pyjamas."

"And what if they still ask you some more questions?" Rilili pressed on.

"Why would they. They'll just have to trust me." Rose argued.

"Why don't you just ask from that buff hot neighbour of yours?" Rilili asked smiling at Rose,"At least the clothes won't be that short on him."

Rose nodded reluctantly then went out of the room. From the door I could see there is a long passageway with several doors with numbers on them and some square things right next to each door close to the door nobs. "I guess it's just you and me." Rilili said smiling at me,"So can I see your wings?"

"I haven't eaten so they won't come out right now." I lied hoping she would drop the subject.

"I have food in the fridge." she quickly countered me.

"Fridge?" I asked confused.

What was she talking about now?

"It's where you put food to keep it fresh and cool." she explained to me.

"So you like cold food?" I asked again happy that she wasn't talking about my wings any more.

"I have food that needs to be cold if that helps you understand better." She said with a bright smile while walking to the short rectangular thing standing in the corner.

"What food needs to be cold?" I asked following her.

"Ice cream, chocolate and other sweet things." she said wriggling her fingers and squinting her eyes.

"Okay then. I'll eat." I said after seeing the things she was telling me about as she had opened the fridge.

I completely loved the food! It was so lovely on my palate that I didn't stop eating until everything was done and at the same time Rose came back to the room holding some black clothes in her hands. She walked towards us and then came to stand in front of me.

"In exchange for getting you these clothes I need to see your wings properly." she said in a sweet tone when her request was pure violence.

I frowned at her request and quickly got up to snatch the clothes she had in her hands from her then I run to the bathroom and pushed it closed. I'm sure if she wasn't in this place she would d have definitely started screaming at me and I was lucky. She was quiet but I heard her stomp her foot on the ground. I smiled internally and started changing. Indeed these clothes are more comfortable and better fitting. I finally feel like I can breathe! I stretched every muscle in my body like I had been unable to move for a very long time and now I had just regained that ability.

When I got out Rose and Rilili were dressed in black, same as me. Whatever it is we're going to do I hope the black doesn't make it more obvious but the question was so how they are going to get me out of here. Should I just use the way I came in? That would be a better option for all three of us but I don't think they'll agree to that.

"We should wait for everyone to fall asleep because if people are still awake we'll get caught very quickly." Rilili said thoughtfully

"No. We're going to fall asleep instead. In case you've forgotten we sleep a lot." Rose protested.

" But still we should wait because I don't think I'll be able to get much sleep with him here with the thought that he could get us in trouble at any moment."

Rose nodded and went to sit down in front of a rectangular thing that had moving pictures and sounds coming out of it. I want to ask what it is because it seems like they're already tired from telling me what each and every thing is so I won't ask.

"It's a TV in case you were wondering." Rilili said as if she had read my mind.

I smiled at her in appreciation and went to sit next to Rose and Rilili followed as well. Rose looked alarmed by the closeness so I moved a bit but then Rilili came to sit on the other side so I have nowhere to move to and I wasn't too fond of Rilili so I moved closer to Rose.

"Change the channel Pen, this is boring." Rilili said pointing at the TV.

Rose picked up another rectangular thing that had circular, semi circular and rectangular projections on top of it that had tiny writings on top of them while some had symbols.

"It's a remote." Rilili said and I nodded.

Rose pressed one of the projections and the pictures on the TV changed to some things that didn't look so real. They were made to resemble people but they didn't look like people.

"These are cartoons." Rilili informed me.

"Do they have many minds of their own?" I asked.

"They have minds assigned to them." Rose said and I got more confused but no one bothered to elaborate further.

Some more time passed and Rose got up to quietly open the door to check if anyone was there.

"We can go now." she said with a smile on her face that told me she was very excited about whatever we were about to do.

Rilili excitedly got up from the chair and went to the bathroom then came out shortly after when I was standing next to Rose who looked quite uncomfortable with me so close to her. She said I'm her type though so why is she uncomfortable? Maybe she's just nervous.
