I Have Good News for You

After the audition, Qin Nuan had only rested at home for two days when Tan Xue called her back to the office again. 

This time round, Tan Xue sounded a little excited over the phone. "Xiaonuan, come to the office quickly. I have good news for you." 

When she heard there was good news, Qin Nuan practically flew all the way to Warm Hues Media Entertainment. 

Once Tan Xue saw her walk in, she got Li Jing to carry all the documents from her desk and spread them out on the coffee table in the office. 

"These are all the jobs that are offered to you at the moment. I've got three scripts, two magazine shoots, and one variety program. Take a look at them and tell me if you're interested in any of these?" 

Qin Nuan sat on the sofa and looked at the pile of documents that covered the coffee table. She was rather surprised. 

She wasn't famous at all, so it was strange that she could clinch so many deals at this time. 

Tan Xue was initially stunned as well. When her manager asked to see her in the morning, she didn't think it was for this. After what happened the last time, she seemed to run into dead end after dead end, so the jobs she could get were few and far between. There was a point when she was worried about whether she would end up implicating Qin Nuan. 

But when she remembered that Qin Nuan was someone recommended by Song Zhan, it didn't seem surprising anymore. 

She picked up one script and started to explain each job offer to Qin Nuan. 

"I've got three scripts here. One is a web drama set in a school, so it's a coming-of-age story about puppy love. The role offered to you is the second female lead, but this second female lead is both pretty and talented, doesn't try to ruin other's relationships, and even helps to get the two leads together in the end. The character is well written and isn't too stereotypical." 

"The other one is an eastern fantasy drama, and the novel it's based on is viral. It's a story about how a human girl born with extraordinary physical characteristics was saved by one of the immortals in heaven and taken in as his disciple, and the long and difficult love story between this girl and the immortal. The third female lead, who is a senior of the female lead, is the role offered to you. She tries to harm the female lead out of jealousy and is eventually killed by one stab of the male lead's sword." 

"The last one is also set in ancient China, and the role offered to you is the third female lead. It's the role of the best friend who grew up with the female lead. This role isn't involved in any complicated love triangle, and some of her lines help move the story along. The character is very ordinary and nothing to shout about, but the good part is that this character gets a lot of screen time." 

Qin Nuan listened to Tan Xue give her rundown of the scripts while flipping through them and eventually decided on the first one. 

Tan Xue asked, "Why? I thought you would like the third one." 

Qin Nuan laughed and fluttered her eyes. "I didn't get to fall in love when I was in school, so I'm going to make up for it. Besides, I really like bringing couples together. If it's a pairing that I'm a fan of, I want to be the one who helps them get together." 

Once she confirmed which script she wanted, Tan Xue held up the two magazine shoots documents. "This one here is a fashion and lifestyle magazine that publishes twice a month. The insert for this month's issues are all artists from our company, and we've got a slot for you. This other one here is a romance novel magazine that publishes weekly. You get to be on the cover, and the contract is for an entire year. The filming schedule is once every month for four issues." 

Qin Nuan looked at the magazine called Youth. Its monthly sales were stable at 500,000 copies and above, so it was an excellent publicity channel. 

Moreover, magazines like that generally targeted the younger crowd, and the volume of readers was high. 

She replied, "I can take both magazine shoots." 

"Are you sure about that? The contract for Youth is a yearly contract, and their company's offer is $20,000 per issue plus 0.5% of the total sales as commission. Even if you suddenly become popular in the next few months, the contract terms will not change," said Tan Xue. 

Qin Nuan nodded. She understood. 

"Alright then!" Tan Xue picked up the last contract on the table and said, "The last one is this reality show deal. My manager passed this one to me this morning. It's called Adventures in the Wild. This is Blue Cable Channel's prime-time variety program, so it's broadcast in many places, has very high viewership ratings, plus triggers a lot of discussion after each episode. Each season features six regular guests and one special guest. Every guest is trendy within their own circle." 

But after she finished saying this, Tan Xue's expression immediately took a drastic turn. "But not every artist is willing to go on this show. Just the name itself, Adventures in the Wild, tells you a lot about how insane the production crew of this show can be."
