Alicia's POV.

"Bye guys", I said to my friends as I got down from the car, we were all just coming from a friend's birthday party and trust me when I say I am dead tired."Bye Alicia, see you at school tomorrow" Zia replied "sure guys see you tommorow bye and drive safe Nick" I said " Sure Alicia I will goodnight" Nick said with a smile. "Bye baby"Jack said. I waved my hand at them and watched them drive off before going inside the house. "Hello everyone" I shouted once I opened the house door. "Welcome miss", Christine one of our helps said. "Thanks christine, where is everyone", I asked her. "They are in the sitting room miss" she said. I nodded at her and went to the sitting room. "A very good evening to the beautiful James family". I greeted my family with a smile I really loved my home. "Welcome pumpkin" my eldest brother greeted, Something is wrong they all look worried I thought but I ignored It, I am probably been paranoid again. I hugged my parents and kissed them both on the cheeks.

My dad smiled at me and said "how was the party Alicia, did you enjoy yourself, "yeah dad it was so much fun" I said sitting between my brothers. "Uhmm that's good my dear, why don't you go have a shower I will get you something to eat", my mom said and was about to stand up, "I just remembered dad we have to go check some important files lets go", my brother Julius said facing my dad "yeah I almost forgot Julius let's go" and the both of them stood up. "I also have to finish a presentation for tomorrow mom so I will go do it quickly", my second brother Justin said and stood up too. "Alicia why don't you have dinner and go to bed okay my dear" my dad said with an awkward smile and started to walk out of the room with my brothers. "All of you stop right there", I said in a commanding tone. "Am not hungry mom I already had enough at the party and brother Julius what files could be so important that you didn't check before I came back, all of you were having a discussion right before I came in but immediately I came in you stopped talking what's going on" I asked suspiciously do they think I am a fool. "Alicia its nothing like that", My mom said "if its nothing like that why don't you all tell me what it is then". I said eyeing the four of them.They four of them looked at each other and sat down. "Alicia my dear actually we have something to discuss with you but we don't know where to start", my dad said. "You have started talking dad that means you have started just continue you guys are scaring me". I said anxiously getting scared.Her father started" Baby, do you remember Grandpa Collins your granfather's best friend", "yes dad", Alicia replied even though its been almost thirteen years since she last saw him, they went out of touch after her grandfather passed away, "what about him Dad" she asks again actually "my dear uhmm he and your grandfather had an agreement many years back to get their children married to each other but since both of them gave birth to sons the agreement couldn't push through, we all had thought that they dropped since we never heard them discuss it again but who knew that they moved it to their grandchildren instead, after your grandfather passed away Uncle Raymond and his entire family moved out of California to New York and they moved back here to California five years ago. In the last thirteen years we were in touch but they never mentioned anything related to it and now suddenly after thirteen years they want to fulfill the agreement and they want to get you and their eldest grandson Nathan married, you never saw Nathan in your childhood because Uncle Raymond's son Anthony and his wife Kisha were based in New York but they moved back together with the entire family five years ago" her father said nervously, "but don't worry Alice we will find a way to break the arrangement if you don't want it", her mother quickly added. "WHAAAT.... Marriage, How, When, why and what do you mean by if I don't want it uh un?, of course I dont want it and exactly why do they suddenly want to push through with the arrangement after so many years" Alicia asked in shock. Grandfather Collins is currently in the hospital and in critical condition and he wants his and his best friends promise to be fulfilled before he passes on" Mr James said. "I am just nineteen dad and I am not ready for marriage so you guys better find a way to end this, Final" Alicia said with finalty. "Can't you get one of my brothers married to a daughter of their family if it is so important to keep the promise. Before their father could answer Julius shouted "that can't possibly work out with me dad I mean I have a girlfriend whom I love very much what am I going to tell her she has never even offended me before"." I also have a girlfriend brother and i love Zia very much, i mean i cant live without her" Justin said. So because I am single I should be the sacrificial lamb is that what you guys are saying" Alicia asked her brothers.

No pumpkin that's not it no one has to be the sacrificial lamb dad and mom just said they will handle it so relax" Julius comforted Alicia."Yes my dear don't worry we will find a solution to this, they do have daughters though Alicia their eldest daughter Ria is two years older than Julius she is 27 years old but she is already married with one year old son and their youngest Stacy is only sixteen years and she is still in high school", Mr james answered his children. Anyways dad I dont know about all that but find a way to solve this because I am not ready to get married" Alicia said stubbornly. It was obvious no one was going to be able to change her mind. "Don't worry my dear we will handle this you should all go to bed", Mrs james told them. "Sure mum goodnight" the three said and went to their respective bedrooms. Alicia slumped on her bed immediately she reached her room and stood up after five minites to go shower. after showering she entered her walk in closet and changed into her favorite pink pyjamas, she sat on her bed and opened her bedside drawer, she took out a picture from there and rubbed it lovingly and said to the picture "look honey they are about to get me married to someone else and you have no idea do you even remember me and the promise you made to me.I really wish I could meet you but that's next to impossible isn't it, I don't even know where you are or if you are alive or dead or if I will even be able to recognize you, its been ten years" she looked at the picture for a few more minutes before putting it back in its previous place, she laid on her bed and switched off the lights. She dozed off immediately after her head touched the pilow

Downstairs Mrs James looked at her husband and said "we only told our children the tip of the story Andrew and not the depth we are highly indebted to the Collins family, if Grandfather Collins and his family hadn't raised your father and sponsored his business we wouldn't even be here. They saved him after everything your grandfather did, after all these years the collins family has grown from a simple second generation family to American's most powerful family and they are currently in the fourth generation of their family's wealth they are not in our league and never were. They are the richest family in America and their grandson Nathan Collins has brought the family and Company to great heights within the last five years that he took over Lance Inc. At the age of twenty five he has proven to be the gem of the Collins family honey, he his currently the second most richest man in the world and the richest one in America And Europe. We had thought that after had become so much more richer and powerful than us they would have forgotten about the agreement but now all of a sudden they have decided to go through with it". "They didn't plan to contact us honey, if Grandfather Collins hadn't been on his sickbed and insisted they fulfilled the promise he and his friend made as his last wish they probably wouldn't have contacted us to go through with it, I just don't know how to bring Alicia refusal up with them". Mr james said dejectedly. "We are going to visit Grandfather collins in the hospital tomorrow right, we will find a way to bring it up with them then I just don't want us to look ungrateful after everything that family did for us" Mrs James said "don't worry Julie all that is well ends well, everything will be alright Okay. Let's go to bed now its already late, tommorrow will be a new day" Mr james said and both he and his wife stood up and went to their room.

California City Hospital in a VVIP room

"Exactly what are you guys saying right now",Nathan asked his grandparents confusedly. " Exactly what you heard boy" his grandmother said angrily. "You want me to get married to your late friend's grandaughter, grandpa are you kidding me right now what kind of an absurd last wish is this. Exactly what has my marriage got to do with your death". Nathan Collins said with a calm voice but everybody in the room presently knew that calmer he his, the angrier he is. "Are you cursing my husband right now boy, what do you mean by his death are you trying to turn me to a widow" Grandma Collins shouted furiously. "You never grasp the point of discussion grandma my point is not your husbands death but my marriage exactly why do I have to be involved in an age long agreement and why have I never heard you guys talking about this absurd agreement before, we are in the 21st century for goodness sake who promises marriage this days. How can you promise me to someone do I look like a sculpture that you can give away whenever you want to you too" Nathan said again angrily, " A sculpture is better than you at least it wouldn't be arguing with me right now" Grandpa Collins said in a low voice and Nathan's mother chuckled. " Mom, are you laughing right now this old couple is about to sell your son" Nathan told his mother incredulously. His mother shrugged and said they are your grandparents Nathan they wouldn't wish you I'll". "The marriage arrangement was made long before you were born you fool and you are going through with it whether you want it or not, is not like you are in a relationship with anyone and you better not lie to me. Just because that good for nothing Nari broke your heart does that mean you I shouldnt see my great grandchildren" Grandma Collins said again angrily. "What has this got to do with Nari grandma, I have nothing to do with that girl anymore and I hate her just as much as you do I just don't want to get married, please try to understand am not ready yet" Nathan tried to convince his grandmother. "I don't care whether you are ready or not you are getting married to Alicia and that's final" Grandma Collins stated with finalty. "Hey you boy are you trying to kill my wife why are you stressing her you seem to keep on forgetting that the company is still in my name so if you love your precious company that you have worked so hard for for the past five years and you do not want to lose it you better tell me right now are you getting married or not, answer me Nathaniel Collins", Grandpa Collins said angrily while patting his beloved wife's back. "Calm down dad its not good for your health Nathan will agree", Mrs Kisha Collins Nathans mother said. "Mom you too" Nathan said Shockingly. "Just agree Nath Alicia is a sweet girl and she will keep you happy" Mrs Collins persuaded him. "Fine suit yourself but you guys should know that am only doing this for the company otherwise I would have never agreed" ."Should I set up a meeting then, his mother asked, "I don't want to meet her just tell me when to go sign the marriage certificate". "Are you treating this as a business deal how can you not meet her even once before marriage, his grandmother said." If after meeting her, I come to you and reject the marriage will you agree to call off the wedding", Nathan asked. " of course not you have to marry her", "if I have to marry her and look at her face for the rest of my life anyways, what difference will it make if I meet her before the marriage or not". Nathan said angrily, he picked up his suit jacket from the couch and left with his assistant following behind him. "He is always so stubborn thank God we could get him to agree", Nathan's mother said after he left. "Quickly honey call Andrew and Julie and tell them Nathan has given his consent. I hope their daughter has agreed too", Grandma Collins told her husband. "They are coming here tomorrow, mom we can tell them in person then, you should go and get some rest now and you too grandpa the doctor said you needed a lot of rest" Mrs Collins told her in laws. "Don't worry Kisha I am fine, you should go home now, my wife as well as the nurse are here to take care of me so don't worry Anthony must be waiting for you" Grandpa Collins told his daughter in law. "Okay then Dad, Mom goodnight and call us if anything happens, okay I will bring your favorite chicken soup for the both of you tomorrow", Mrs Collins said with a smile. "Sure my dear goodnight" Grandma Collins said and laid down on the second bed in the room, after making sure the both of them were comfortable Mrs Kisha Collins left.
