It's August which means summer is about to come to an end. Which meant we were going to be pushed ever harder than before. I headed to my class and sat at a desk.
" Ok is ever-where is the little Todoroki at?," Mr. Miyoga sighed.
" I'm HERE!," Tadashi ran into the class and took his seat.
" Anyways, I have a feeling all of you are going to love this news!" A light smile spread across Mr. Miyoga's face. " You all will get to go patrol around the city on Mondays, Wednesdays, and fridays!"
"REAL HERO WORK?!." The class cheered in excitement.
" I'm not finished! It's only helping out with minor problems. If there is a serious problem you will only be out to help with evacuation. I know you all have your license but right now villian attacks are getting even higher and the school can't risk any students lives lost. This is only a thing for two weeks so the teachers can observe how you work as a group. I was also supposed to do something in the beginning of the year that I waited until now to do. You will need a Class Representative and a Vice Class Representative to lead you in these activities. You have twenty minutes to choose. I'll be gone during this time so manage to get it sorted out before i'm back."
Mr. Miyoga left the room.
" We should do this the easiest way," Sachi said. " Everyone should write the person's name on a paper of who they think would be best fit for those jobs. Whoever has the most votes will be it, whoever has the second lot of votes can be the Vice."
We all agreed to his judgement. It took me a while to think about this. Then I got my votes down. Our Teacher walked back in and collected our papers and took a look at them.
" The person with the most votes is Daiki," Mr. Miyoga announces. " In second place is Yuki!"he announced.
I walked up to the front of the classroom. Usually I would be nervous in situations like this but for some reason I was fine. I wasn't trembling too much, I was thinking correctly, my face didn't feel hot, and I wasn't stuttering.
Mr. Miyoga walked back in. " I have to say I'm not surprised. You can all go put on your suits. When you get outside you new representatives will assign a place for you to patrol. You are expected to be back by Five to Five-Thirty. Now skedaddle.
I decided that soon enough I'm going to have to stop looking for heroes to save me so I changed my sneakers. I won't wear them in combat or during hero lessons, also I don't think I need the luck. I replaced my blue shoes with black combat boots that went up to my knees.
" Ok, everyone," I said. "Since we would have to split up in groups we would have to think about which quirks work best together. Kaito since your quirk is water manipulation I would pair you up with Tadashi, Haru, and Yuki to look after Takoba Beach. Kiyoe, Himari, Akito, Sachi, Akiri, Amaya, Nanako, and Miyu can get to the southern part of town. Me, Nori, Hijiri, Yuu, Akio, Watanabe, Kenji, and Riki will go with me to the northern part of town. Remember what Mr. Miyoga said, don't get involved in heavy situations."
We all went our separate ways and to my surprise the city was pretty peaceful. It was mainly just kids running around with what I guessed were parents. There were maybe a couple of kids running around with parents. Though my brother must have been serious because I didn't see him anywhere.
" Mommy, look!," A little girl called from across the street. " Heroes!"
She pointed at us. She had a green ball in her hand. I almost couldn't be fast enough when the ball rolled into the street. The girl tried to run after it. A car nearly hit her! She would've been crushed flat if I didn't stop the car in time. I was on my knees and my right hand was on the front of the car. There it was again...the fingers of my glove were ripped and my fingers were glowing red. The red soon faded away. I looked back at the girl.
" Are you alright?," I asked.
She nodded her head and smiled. Her mother ran over and grabbed her paying no attention to me. Meanwhile I would have to deal with the man who nearly ran over this girl. He got out of his car.
" Look what you did to my car!," he fussed.
the front of his car was basically crushed from what I did to it with my hand.
" I'm sorry sir but if I did nothing this poor girl would've been seriously injured," I said.
" Well you got insurance to pay for this?," he questioned.
I didn't answer. Then, Hijiri ran over.
" Calm down you old damn hag," he sneered. " I can fix it. Gimme like one to two hours and it'll be brand new."
" Wait really?!," the man and I said in unison.
" Matter-of-fact, give me twenty minutes," Hijiri said.
He really fixed it! All he needed was his bare hands and his quirk. There were no more dents left. Not even a single scratch!
" U-uh, how much do I have to pay you?!," the man asked. " ¥87,723?"
Hijiri grinned. " If I weren't a hero I would've made you pay a whole lot more than that. No, I don't want your crusty money. But make sure you tell your friends about me. The name is Carver!"
" I-I will!." The man got back into his car and drove away.
" Impressive," I said. " You know, I never thought that you would be the one to have that type of patience to sit down and fix something. You always had that impatient attitude."
" Yeah, well that was old me, Daiki. I may sometimes still be the hot-headed jerk I was but I'm better now. I needed to change my ways if I wanted to become a hero. I-I had to stop running after that bastard Shimizu. It was kind of like the way you always ran after me," Hijiri explained. " We all wanted to be the same hero, we just saw it in different ways. But hey, we're both getting what we both want, right?"
" If you guys are done having your little moment we should get on with the work now," Yuu called.
As we were walking something came to my mind.
" Did you really mean it when you called me a quirkless loser?," I asked.
Hijiri answered me with a smile.
It wasn't long before we got back to the dorms.
" Your quirk nearly crunched up a whole car!," Riki said as we were all sitting in the lounge. " It's crazy strong man! Might be even greater than whatever Deku's is."
Maybe he was right...but the thing is my quirk was Deku's. Deku did tell me that I accessed a higher amount of One For All that he couldn't when he first got it.
" How did your day on patrol go?," I asked Kaito.
" It was calm," he answered. " We got to entertain some people. Made sure nobody went too far out into the ocean. Stuff a lifeguard would do. Wasn't too rough!"
"Guys come look outside!," Yuu said.
We all followed him out.
" If you look closely at the sun while it's setting you can kinda see flames sprouting from it. Never saw that before," Yuu noticed.
" You're right." I looked where he was looking.
" Maybe it's a sign for good luck!," Tadashi said.
" Yeah...maybe."
We went back inside and I started to head up to my room. My room was basically still empty. I remade some of my hero plans and hung them back onto the wall but you could barely tell that I was some hero fanboy. That was good, because I was aiming for that. I knew nobody in my class would judge me for that, but a side of my brain told me that I should let go of those things.
[FLASH BACK]
" Hijiri, Sora, wait for me!," nine year old me called.
" Oh come on, just try to keep up with us!," Sora insisted.
" Don't leave me!," I pleaded.
" Ground Zero is the greatest hero ever!," Hijiri would say. " BOOM! SMASH!." He imitated the hero's moves. " MY quirk is gonna grow to be as flashy as his!"
I put my fist in the air. " Yeah!"
" You two can keep on dreaming," Sora smirked. " It's obvious I'm going to become the greatest! I'll have you two as my sidekicks!"
" No Way!," Hijiri denied.
[Present]
To be honest, I really missed those days. but back then I didn't know the phrase " Pick and choose your friends wisely." Instead I learned that the hard way. I went back downstairs and found absolute chaos.
" Seriously, Sato?! Your name would be STABBY?!," Tadashi asked in confusion.
" I am a stabbing type so YES," Hijiri answered. " STABBY STAB."
" Wait would that make me a fire type pokemon or one that can create things?"Tadashi looked at his hands. " I would prefer a create type."
" Wait...what does that make me?," I asked.
I saw the girls in the room shaking their heads.
" THAT WOULD MAKE YOU A FIGHTING TYPE," Hijiri answered. " NOW, DAIKI, I CHOOSE YOU!"
" What...?"
