What Must Go On(3)

[Skyline above New Jaku Research Facility]

A clear sky on a hopeful day was supposed to be all there is to it. Not to this pilot.

"With this, I'm done with that Doctor and All For One," the pilot muttered to himself.

The pilot pressed, and out ejected a lone capsule from the aircraft. The capsule, thousands of feet in the air, began to fracture.

********************

[New Jaku Research Facility]

The building itself was without a doubt awe-inspiring, its sleek glass façade reflecting the once vibrant cityscape.

Upon stepping inside, the grandeur of the facility only intensified.

The spacious lobby featured soaring ceilings adorned with intricate chandeliers, casting a warm, welcoming glow over the polished marble floors.

The walls were adorned with tasteful artwork depicting medical breakthroughs and the human body, including uplifting portraits of heroes of the vigilante age. This added a certain sophistication to the environment.

Having medical wings to support Quirks of virtually any variation.

The Operative Wing assisted those with Emitter-type Quirks.

The Composite Wing for Transformation-Type Quirks.

Lines for those who wished to understand their Mutant-type Quirk started first. This would be the Morph Wing.

These individuals often possessed physical traits or abilities that were not entirely human. Their Quirks manifested in mutations such as extra limbs, enhanced senses, or unique anatomical features.

These Quirks could be diverse and versatile; however, they also faced challenges in societal acceptance due to their visible differences.

Of all the classifications, the world had a dark history with Heteromorph Quirk possessors, individuals whose Quirks permanently transformed them into non-human forms. These could range from minor alterations to complete metamorphoses, turning them into creatures like beasts, monsters, or mythical beings.

Due to fear, prejudice, and misunderstanding, Quirk users of this class often faced discrimination and were sometimes ostracized from mainstream society. Though with hope, this building could bridge the gap and destroy these fallacies.

The new age heroes would assist the residents of the building.

Whether it was helping with security, engaging in conversations with citizens, or aiding parents in rallying their children as they awaited attention, everything felt as it should.

Until every hero received a message from Deku on their comms.

Deku: "Secure the building!"

*SWOOOOSH* *BANG-BANG*

Simultaneously, Deku and Dynmight appeared, both landing on top of the newly revealed building to witness.

A levitating capsule gliding hundreds of feet above them.

Bakugo: "What the hell, Deku, so much for a danger sense?"

*Crack*

The capsule broke, revealing a black viscous glob-like substance. This substance then appeared to form a deformed face showing parts of a brain.

Deku: "A Nomu!?!"

Bakugo: "Nomu!!!!?"

The substance scattered around the building, forming into other Nomu.

Some were winged, others had longer appendages, claws, and fangs.

All from the minds of very sick, twisted individuals.

Though as far as anyone was aware, Dr. Garaki was still imprisoned in Tartarus. There was no time to speculate who created them.

The heroes chose to make time, saving everyone from the Nomu.

It didn't take long until the facility was in disarray.

However, these weren't the same heroes. What were once students were now running the show.

Momo: "Phantom, did you get enough of the buffet from earlier?"

Monoma: "Ha!! You beat me to my own question!!"

The Copy Hero high-fived Creati, duplicating her Quirk.

They both used her Quirk, Creation, to form fairly large jars and spiked weaponry to drive them back.

Momo: "Not bad. But you need more imagination!!!!"

From her back spawned an industrial vacuum cleaner. The suction of the machine was no joke.

Monoma: "Oh, I suck, huh! Hilarious!"

Tsukuyomi: "There can only be one darkness."

Tsukuyomi's Dark Shadow seemed to get stronger as he became surrounded by this dark-themed substance.

Using his cloak to cover Dark Shadow, allowing his size to cross the entire lobby to gather innocents. The bird-headed man distracted the Nomu.

"Thank goodness."

Many said as a giant shadow claw grabbed them to safety. Surprisingly, none were scared when a giant shadow claw grabbed them to safety. Many of them jumped to the shadow.

Deku and Dynamight.

Over the years, the two had come to a sort of friendship/rivalry. Since the idea of a Top Pro Hero was their boyhood dream, instead of competing, which they still did, they more times than not helped each other and had immense battlefield cooperation.

Deku: "Full Cowl: Full 50% + Float!"

Deku blitzed through the sky, smashing all Nomu in one shot. Danger Sense flared, helping him avoid attacks. With 50% power, Izuku avoided danger by country miles.

Dynamight: "Still a simple nerd!"

Bakugo, while loud and pragmatic, loved to show off. Leaping into the sky, he smashed his hand upon the heads of many Nomu.

This did no damage at all. Upon reaching the apex of height he wanted, Bakugo smirked, then flexed his right hand.

Dynamight: "Bang."

*BOOM**BBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOM**BOOOM*

All Nomu below him exploded in the same spot Dynamight placed his hand.

The little beads of sweat he left on villains were a key component of his hero work.

Creating more ranged abilities was a big goal for him.

The corpses began to fall to the ground. Until...

Deku: "!!!!"

Danger Sense was a lifesaver. Deku grabbed hold of Bakugo, moving them out of the way and back on the ground in front of the hospital.

Dynamight: "The hell, Deku!!! Never save me like that again!!!"

Deku: "Look up."

His lifelong friend pointed to the sky as the surroundings became dark.

Inside the facility, the Nomu remains began reacting together, levitating from place.

*Break* *Break*

Before all of them shot out of the building.

As if they were being summoned.

Everyone then noticed the shift in atmosphere. The outside covered in darkness not dissimilar to an eclipse.

Deku stared into the sky, an overwhelming feeling in his chest. He had only felt it once before. The Vestiges within him resonated with his emotions, as if time had stopped.

En: "You're not wrong."

Daigoro: "This is 'his' M.O."

Kudo: "Without a doubt."

All For One. Only he could orchestrate anything of this scale.

Dynamight: "Deku! Are we going to do something or what!!!!? Wake up!!!!!"

Time resumed for the green-haired man. His friend pushed him back to reality. A terrifying reality.

In the sky, covering the former city, was an erupting mass of Nomu. Slowly but surely coming to decimate what had been built.

It's been 10 years. The new heroes felt again, the iron grip of despair forged by a Demon King long thought defeated.

Civilians saw the blob incoming, and did the only thing they could do.

Run.
