Making Sacrifices

Feng Xiaoli sat down on the chair as she looked at herself in the mirror.

Her eyes had become red from crying too much. Her hair was a bit messy.

"I'm sorry baby girl.....I couldn't get us away from here" Feng Xiaoli said as she looked down and held her stomach.

She wanted to get away from Xie Jian so that she can raise her child by herself. Feeling a uncomfortable after her planned to escape failed, Feng Xiaoli walked into the bathroom and took a shower.

Lin Jie who had just finished running some errands entered the car and told the driver to move. He looked at his phone and saw the message from his boss. His eyes and his mouth opened when he saw the text. What was his boss writing?. He was confused, he wanted to call his boss and ask him but he quickly killed the idea. He did not want to die young. He quickly told the driver the venue.

Lin Jie arrived at the venue. He walked in and saw some men who came with their wives while some women were just looking at the various item. Lin Jie was baffled because most of the women there was pregnant. His brain was in a mess. Seeing smartly dressed man inside his building, the manager walked up to Lin Jie grinning happily.

"sir... how may I help you?" the manager asked with a sharp voice.

"CEO Xie sent me" Lin Jie answered. The manager's eyes widened his eyes.

"CEO..... Xie..." the manager said as he held Lin Jie's arm and asked him to seat. He brought out some snacks and drinks but Lin Jie rejected them. The manager dashed into his office and brought out two boxes. One was pink while the other was blue. Lin Jie looked at the boxes in shock.

He was at a store where they sell items for babies, almost all the customers were pregnant, and now the manager is giving him two boxes, pink and blue. The signs were too obvious but Lin Jie refused to believe. He felt that he was blowing things out of proportion. He quickly collected the boxes and left.

Feng Xiaoli just came out from the bathroom and was drying her hair when a maid came in holding a white dress.

"What's this?" Feng Xiaoli said as she walked towards the maid.

"Miss... Master Xie asked me to give this to you" the said as she gently placed the dress on the bed. After she said that, Feng Xiaoli froze on the spot. She thought she heard wrong so she asked her again. The maid said the same thing. Feng Xiaoli could feel her bones tense up. She looked at the dress on the bed. It was a white cocktail gown. She picked it up and scanned the dress carefully. Her head was confused while her heart was filled with suspicions.

"Miss... the driver will be here to pick you up at 6:00pm" the maid said as she excused herself and left. Feng Xiaoli looked at the time. It was just 3:20 at that time. It was very unusual of Xie Jian.

The only time they would go out together was if they were going to a small gathering by any of his business colleagues and that rarely happened. She was always imprisoned at home. She has never been allowed to go out, to leave her life the way she wanted. She felt suffocated because she never had the freedom she wanted, she was never loved the way she wanted.

All these years, her heart went to only one direction and that was Xie Jian. When he asked her to marry him, she felt very happy and thought that he loved her.

She thought that he had acknowledge her love for him but after sometime, she finally realized that she was just day dreaming. Even though Xie Jian knew very well that Feng Xiaoli loved him very much, he never accepted it. He treated her as a necessity and ignored her feelings for him.

Since he never loved her, she decided to love him back but it was very hard, but after last night, she managed to convince herself to stop loving him which gave her the strength and confidence to run away from him. As she thought about why Xie Jian would ask her out, an immeasurable amount of fear rose in her heart. Was he going to punish her for trying to escape?.

Later in the evening, Feng Xiaoli dressed up and went downstairs where the car was waiting for her. She was hesitant at first but if she didn't go, then she might have to suffer the consequences and he didn't want that, not in her condition. If she didn't go and Xie Jian looses his temper, and something happened to her child, she'll never forgive herself. She had to do everything she could to keep her child safe even if it means dinning with the devil, after all you make sacrifices for the ones you love right?.
