Mind Hex {I}

Shian waited for some minutes to gather his energy before getting up. He studied the dead rhino at his side, poking random places at intervals, he went round the rhino but didn't move close to the bite mark on its neck, he felt that of he touched it he would die instantly.

After scrutinizing the rhino enough, he produced a dagger from his space ring and began to cut in between the armor-plated skin of the beast.

After an hour of arduous struggle, he finally got to the core of the beast and saw a massive crystal the size of his head glowing brightly.

Shian was mesmerized, he had never seen anything so breathtaking in his life. While he was looking at it, a fight was happening inside him, he was resisting the urge to grab the crystal simply because of its beauty, but his rational self knew better that if he touched the crystal, the system that was synchronizing with him, will synchronize completely and he didn't want to know what will happen if it did, so Shian did what he had been doing for the past few weeks, he wrapped the crystal thoroughly with half of all the clothes he had and placed it in his space ring. When he was done with it, he was once again smiling like a retard.

'Can't believe I got a legendary tier crystal so easily' Shian thought then remembered the pain he felt all over his body and subconsciously shivered.

"No. It wasn't easy at all." He said.

He slowly made his way towards the giant snake in the distance. On getting there he saw several beasts feasting on the snakes carcass.

"What the hell, do they not know that it's poisonous." Shian said.

And as if reacting to what Shian said, two beasts dropped to the ground dead with foam spilling out of their mouths. The remaining beasts stole a glance at them and then continued eating like nothing happened.

Shian was staring at the beasts with shock, wondering why they reacted that way. Unbeknownst to him he was slowly inching closer to the body of the snake, when he was just inches away from making contact with the beast, he looked up just to see his hand resting on the snakes body, Shian yelped and jumped back landing on his butt.

"Fuck!!" Shian screamed. He was looking at his hand in horror. Shian turned around and walked back to the base quickly, he washed his hands with some water, brought out a first aid kit and pulled out a bottle with a green liquid in it, he downed the content and sat down in a meditative pose for it to circulate faster.

What Shian drank was a healing tonic that focused on detoxfying poison, though the tonic he had was low grade, it could do the work, or so he thought.

Shian sat for a while without moving, if someone were to see him, he could be mistaken for a humanlike statue. Shian got up when the tonic had finished circulating round his body, he walked outside and saw the body of the rhinoceros already rotting.

Beasts rotted faster when their core was taken out of their body so Shian wasn't surprised when he saw the rhinoceros already decaying.

He walked to the giant snake in the distance, it couldn't be called giant anymore, as several beasts had eaten up most of it with several of them dead.

"Just what is wrong with them, they didn't even attack me when I was close to them. That snake, something is wrong with it, since it died that was when all the beast started behaving weirdly" Shian said to himself. "I must be careful then"

'It's cold out here, I better go inside and rest' Shian thought.

He walked back to the base and lay down on the ground.

'Wait, I went out for a reason right, what is it that I wanted to do?' Shian was deep in thought.

'I'll deal with it when I wake up' Shian thought lazily.

Shian opened his eyes, he was about to get up when he fell heavily to the ground. His body felt weaker than usual and he felt cold... terribly cold.

Shian sat up, he wrapped the blanket he brought with him around his body, but he still shivered, it felt as if the cold was passing right through the blanket to get to him.

'I should have brought warm water with me too' Shian thought.

Shian powered through it and got up, he walked outside the base to check up on the beasts eating the giant snake and to his surprise they were all dead except one, though he didn't know it was alive.

Shian limped to the beasts and saw them all sprawled on the ground with foam flowing down their mouths. In their midst was a purple crystal the size of his head glowing faintly, Shian turned around and began to limp back to the base.

A beast that looked like a mix between a horse and a wolf was struggling to get up, it had the powerful body of a horse and sharp wolf claws and fangs. Shian walked by it carefreely, unknown to him the beast was paralyzed in its body but it's head was still full of power. It's head shot forward with the intent to seize Shian's leg and gobble it up.

Shian threw his legs back, although they were saved, his torso was falling down swiftly, the wolf-horse variant opened its mouth, ready to snap them shut and take Shian's head with it.

A green bladed sword with a white handle materialized in his hand, he thrust it forward aiming for the neck, the beast was smart enough to dodge to the side and continue its assault, Shian's sword plunged into the ground raising dust up and blocking his view of the beast. The beasts head suddenly shot out of the dust-out scaring Shian shitless, Shian closed his eyes hoping that his plan worked. The beasts head stopped just mere inches from Shian's face, it seemed to be struggling to move. When the dust-out settled, the beasts head was rooted to the spot with thick roots the size of a man's arm holding it down firmly.

Shian pulled his sword out and thrust it deeply into the beasts head, it struggled for some time before the light in its eyes slowly dimmed down and it died.

Shian got up and continued to limp back to the base.

"What did I come out to do in the first place" Shian thought out loud. "I'll figure it out later"
