Mr. Beck

"I chose to become a soldier in the special forces, in order to achieve my noble goal," Tala added, her voice was trembling, as if difficult and sad memories were passing before her eyes.

Niard sighed, not caring about the dreams and aspirations of others. All that occupied his mind was the challenge he had announced to defeat those men after a month.

Niard returned to his room, which it was next to Tala's one. In his room there was a glass of water on the dresser, and his bed was not soft but rather hard, a small cupboard with seven brown suits.

This place felt more like a prison cell, but he had to endure it. He had to become stronger if he wanted to survive, not knowing what the future held for him.

For a week, Niard trained before sunrise, running for two hours and then practicing boxing for a few minutes. He felt improvement in his physical fitness.

"Alright, let's see how I progress,"

Niard muttered, then opened his system display.

"Name: Niard Lux

Level: 1

To advance to the next level, you need 3,000 level points.

Rank: Soldier

To promote to the next rank, you need to complete an S-rank mission or reach level five.

Intelligence: 100

Basic Skills: Iron Grip (Level 2), Hundred Kicks

Acquired Skills: Healing Ability, Falcon Eye (identifies opponent's strengths and skills)"

Niard finished reading today's notifications. Obtaining the Falcon Eye skill was the result of his intensive monitoring of soldiers secretly engaging in unauthorized strength matches.

As for his current rank as a soldier, he had no intention of undertaking any missions. He believed that if his foundation was strong, learning more skills would become easier.

"Why isn't my intelligence increasing? Should I read more?" Niard asked, his eyes widening. He used to find studying burdensome, but now, as a player in the galaxy wars, knowing his surroundings and humanity's important enemies was crucial. And he couldn't forget the importance of knowing military tactics.

Niard smiled happily, feeling some muscles in his abdomen had grown. "Thank God the system didn't reject me eating fruits as a healthy food. The good thing is I don't need to eat a lot of dishes, just some of them."

As he walked towards the training base, Niard thought about the two hours he had before their field lessons began. Thanks to Tala's special missions, he found some privacy and comfort in moving around alone and on his own in the academy.

"The academy consists of three buildings, the first building is for beginners like us and has the largest training hall among all the buildings, in addition to a small dining hall, but the library is located in the building attached to the second building, where graduates hone their skills." Niard thought.

He walked with his hands behind his back, feeling his hair had grown a little longer. The sun was shining, guarding the library building were a number of guards. It was massive and vast. Niard stood in front of the entrance, presenting his ID card. The guards looked strong and emotionless.

"Feel free to enter," one of them said, while the other nodded. Niard sighed. He had thought he might face a problem with the guards, or perhaps one of those men who witnessed his fight with the tattooed man would confront him.

"And now let's see whether I'll start with the history of the empire or with martial arts," Niard said softly, his gaze quickly scanning every book title on the shelf.

"Daily Task:

Learn all military tactics, galaxy history, and the evolution of spacecraft. Deadline: two weeks

Reward: Increase of one hundred intelligence points."

Niard smiled after reading the system message, which proved to him that reading increased his intelligence level. He gathered as many books as he could carry to the table.

"No one can beat me in reading. We'll see if I can overcome this system," he said to himself and began reading. What he noticed after finishing the first book in a quarter of an hour was that every word in the book had been memorized in his mind at first glance.

A thrill ran through his head. He was ecstatic, never expecting his memory to improve because of this system. "Great, I'll move on to the next book," he said softly, lowering his voice, and started loading more books related to military tactics.

From a distance, he was being watched by the librarian. He noticed that he was the only boy who frequented the library for a week without interruption, spending three hours reading every day.

"As I told you, General, the new boy, Niard Lux, is strange. I mean, his peers don't even enter the library, and if they do, they won't read anything except the data they need to memorize to pass the written exam," sighed the librarian, wearing glasses made of pure gold. The General smiled as he ran his hand through his hair.

"What's strange about a boy reading books?" the General replied in his steady voice, turning his eyes to the librarian, who then placing a long, broad paper with the names of the books Niard had read during the week.

"This boy has finished reading all the first-floor books about battles, galaxy wars, history, and military plans," the librarian finished his speech quickly. The number of books Niard had read reached 500 books in a week, which was considered impossible based on the information about his skills.

"Ah, Mr. Beck, reading books is different from memorizing and learning their content. I think he's just searching for something," the General said mockingly, he had encountered many soldiers who didn't care about intellectual heritage, but this Niard seemed different.

"Do whatever you want with him, Mr. Beck. I'm curious to know what Niard Lux is hiding," the General said, then turned his chair to enjoy the view of his garden, filled with all kinds of flowers, ornamental trees, and many fruit trees.
