Good News and Bad News
Twist joined his brother outside and sat on the hot veranda. Ess didn't spare him a glance.
The boy's mood could only have been spoiled by the look on his brother's face. He didn't think he really needed to ask what Ess was thinking about. Back at the bar in Giant Milkshake, Ess had made sure Twist would understand that he really didn't miss hanging out with the family.
Twist had had a blast in Green Lolli, and he was sure Bee shared the same sentiment. He hoped Ess would feel the same, that at least the rush of fighting mildly powerful opponents would trigger his inner Ryduun. So far, it didn't seem like there was anything of the sort lighting up in Ess.
Yet, for all the coldness Ess expelled like some furious blizzard, Twist wondered why he was so adamant about protecting the family. He was the one who had suggested that they disregard the Unlimited Forecast and gather everyone so that they could be prepared for Father's wrath instead.
