Beer Pong (1)

Dead of night. The kitchen table was lit with 4 dumbasses standing around a table. On the table were cups arranged in a peculiar formation. There was a platter of food in the center.

"Cups, check. Popcorn chicken, check. Tartar sauce, check. A lot of beer, check," the first dumbass was a black haired boy, under average height-- though he's growing taller-- his hair parted at the right side, a little puffy on the top with stray hair loosely over.

"What's the point of the popcorn chicken? I thought you said beer pong?" The second dumbass-- that would be me-- was questioning the first dumbass on the use of the chicken.

"Are we allowed to even play this game? We're underaged.." the third dumb.. no. Prune, the white haired girl with two wolf ears poking out from the tufts of her hair asked.

She was in fact, a normal girl that became a half-wolf due to her TALENT when her 16th birthday came.

"We need to learn how to drink beer. If not we can't even visit the normal taverns," said the fist dumbass, Nine.

Taverns. That time when we decided to properly visit one for once-- The smell of alcohol in the air and the dark dim environment.. yeah. Not the most pleasant. It feels like we've just entered a pub. Scary stuff.

When we asked the barista if there was anything other than beer.. we were kicked out of the store. No questions asked-- just kicked out.

"We're still underaged?"

And because of that first ever visit to a tavern, Nine thought we all should learn how to drink our fill.

"Jennifer-chan can drink though? You saw it last time."

Yeah.. Jennifer chugged down an entire Stein mug of beer without getting drunk. She only became slightly tipsy.

We were currently living in Prune's apartment hidden inside a proxy room we sorta borrowed from a florist owner by the name Margrett. Jennifer was Miss Margrett's only daughter.

Seriously, do people in this world have amazing livers or what? No wait.. there's magic to fix that. What a cheat.

"I'll accompany Prune," Liliath said, pouring the last paper cup a third full with beer.

Liliath, my sweet heart and demon just like me. Silky velvet hair, eyes red like a blood rose. Together we will rule the world.. cough. That won't happen.

Our current predicament, or reason why we were 'isekaied' to this world was because of her 'Evolution Quest'. The requirements of completion was to stop the war. Which.. wasn't our duty. No idea what's the point in that let's move on.

Beer or whatever.. Miss Margrett helped us find a place that allowed take-away beer-- or ale, or alcohol.. I'm not too well versed in this subject.

And then we basically acquired a few large glass bottles with beer. The glass bottles were from Margrett's past drinking bouts.

"Rules are simple, whichever cup the ball lands into, the group will have to drink it--"

Just a quick explanation on the rules of beer pong because even I had no idea how in the hell beer pong worked until I did some research. Beer pong is a 2 player game-- but since we have 4 people we had to go for a 2 v 2 match. Each team tosses a ping pong ball into the opponent's cup.

10 cups are arranged in an inverted triangle-- that's if you're viewing it as the enemy team. As for the ping pong ball.. we decided to use an alternative, a slimeball.

You heard me right, a slime ball. Funny as that sounds, the slimeball was the result of Nine's experiment. I don't know if I've mentioned this before but Nine placed some slime goo in the fridge. He took it out one evening and tried mixing it with different components-- he was probably bored out of his mind.

One of them was coarse salt. And if you add a lot of it, it will bind together with the slime and harden. It holds the shape molded and thus was how Nine successfully made a slime ball. It's bouncy too. The feel of it is like your normal everyday rubber ball. We also made sure that it wouldn't just dissolve when it came into contact with water,it was properly solid.

Liliath was able to hollow out the inside to decrease the weight. It still bounces alright.

If the slimeball enters the opponent's cup, the opponent will have to down that cup of beer. Common sense.

"Got the rules down?"

"What has this got to do with the popcorn chicken?"

"Just take it and eat it," Nine skewed a piece of meat with his fork, dipped it in tartar sauce-- crunch. "It's a snack."

Really.. you spent 70 points just for that?

"Which team goes first?" Liliath asked.

"Can I not.. participate.. what if we get drunk.." Prune wanted out.

"That's the point. Tomorrow we're free right?" Nine took another piece of chicken. Liliath too started joining in.

"I heard that hangovers are painful.." Prune tried another excuse.

"I came to learn of a spell to cure hangovers?" Liliath said. No escape Prune.

"Really? Then is there one for reducing the pain for period cramps?" Nine asked.

Oh. Is that why Nine wasn't in her girl form? Damn.

Liliath shook her head and smiled. Looks like such a spell doesn't exist.

I took the fork and popcorn chicken to my mouth. Oh wow, it's good.

"It alright, I'll be here to support you.." Liliath held Prune by the arm, squishing it between her breasts. Hm… you can really see the height difference between them. Prune is much taller. Though.. Liliath is getting there. After all, they're two years apart.

"Okay then.." Prune resigned herself to fate.

"Now then, rock paper scissor--"

Nine and I were a team, Liliath and Prune were the other team. The goal of the game-- to learn to drink. I don't know why we decided on this when we can just drink a little beer at a time to increase our tolerance but..

Splash.

"Ah.. it went in," Prune managed to land the ball in the front-most cup.

"So what happens next?" Liliath asked.

"Well, either Noel or I drink it. So.."

"Fine, I'll take it."

I took out the slime ball and drank the beer. I tried a sip first.

"Ugh.. what is this.. can this be drunk??"

It's like this weird aroma of malt? And then it's like.. super bitter, worse than coffee. How do people drink this without sugar? Not to mention, it's stinging hot.

"Let me try."

I passed the cup to Nine.

"I think it's alright though," after savoring some, Nine said.

"Seriously.."

Nine was most probably a drinker before we got to know him. He once hid champagne in the fridge.

Nine passed the cup back to me, I forced the beer down.. sip by sip. I felt the burn travel down my throat, esophagus, and stomach.

"This is one cup.. seriously.." I leaned against the table with my hand.

"You want to do the honors?" Nine passed me the ball.

"Does it really taste that bad?" Prune asked.

"You'll know when you taste it," I tossed the ball.. it missed.

"Are you drunk?"

"Not yet.." I think? I don't know what it feels like to be drunk.

Then it was their turn.. Liliath tossed and it entered one of the cups at the back.

"Oh, crap." Even though Nine cursed, he downed the beer in a swig, "Oh, this is not bad actually."

"Are you kidding me.. how do you even.."

"Once you learn how to drink you'd be just like me. I'm a pro at this," Nine pumped his fist and stuffed another popcorn chicken into his mouth.

Toss~

Splash.

Liliath turned to Prune. Prune nodded and took the first sip.

"Ekk.. it's spicy.. do I really have to drink this?"

"Yup, you have to."

Prune grumbled, but tried her best to down it. Even a third of a cup was difficult for us non-drinkers.

"Haaaaahh…" she let out a elongated exhale. She looked at Nine with an annoyed expression, her face was on fire.

The slime ball was tossed-- it landed in another cup.

"You guys have good aim.."

"Noel."

"Not again.."

I bore with the taste and bitterness of it and took it down into my stomach.

"I think I get why people tend to drink alcohol in the winter now.." it's not just my stomach, but my entire body that feels warm and tingly. I think it would feel amazing if I were in a colder place.

After a popcorn chicken, I tossed the ball.

Plop.

Liliath took the cup upon herself. She flashed a bitter expression.

"This is rather difficult to drink. Different from wine.."

"It's a lot cruder," Nine explained.

"There's a floral note to it.. by all means.."

Liliath finished the cup.

Toss.

"Not again.." Nine said with a sigh and swigged the cup. The cups for our team were rearranged.
