Chapter 14

Isabella's POV

Through the dense, towering trees, I wandered barefoot through the forest, my torn dress snagging on thorns and branches. The sunlight cast a soft, eerie glow through the leaves, illuminating my path. I didn't know where I was or where I was going, but I prayed that this path would lead me out of this forest.

Uncertain about what fate had in store for me, I saw my escape from the cursed wolf's cottage as nothing but an undeniable miracle. It convinced me that my demise was not imminent, inspiring me to seize this escape and search for a path to freedom.

My stomach growled as hunger pangs hit me. From the position of the sun, I could tell that it was already past noon and I hadn't had anything to eat or drink. My breath came in ragged gasps, and my cheeks were streaked with dirt. I leaned against a tree as I was slowly losing strength.
