He had half the mind to really call Anziano for a duel, but then he'd have to call Verona out, too. The entire situation was partially her fault.
Instead, Cael closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath. 'A mage doesn't let emotions rule his mind, even in the heat of battle,' he reminded himself.
The cold mind told Cael that a call for a duel won't go unnoticed here; and while any noble would be honor-bound to not give any of the duelists to the authorities, they would be free to think low of the participants.
The Foundation Games were about to begin. Even if Cael could heal any injuries in an instant, no one knew that. They would assume that Cael is wounded and his combat capability is lowered, even if this is the farthest thing from the truth.
Then he'll definitely end up on different teams with Ginevra.
