Chapter 39 : Memories (1)

A while ago, a level 6 mutated skeleton mage had possessed a level 4 skeleton mage. It could do so because of its skill; skeleton summons that had an attached skill; possession. It's use; the owner of the skill could possess the skeleton and control it. It was a skill that the skeleton had from when it was alive.

It had possessed the skeleton as its instinct instructed it to. However, it didn't expect its enemy to be such a powerful human. It tried to trick the human. It wanted to sneak attack upon him right after the first sneak attack, making it a deadly combo.

However before it could do so, the human's crazy laugh that seemed to mock its very being sent chills down its bones.

Fear!

That was all it felt listening to the laugh. Not only the possessed one, even its original bodies bones were also trembling. It felt like it was trying to sneak upon a terrifying existence.

Listening to the laugh, it's very being was urging it to run. Run from this terrifying existence and that was what it did. It left its minion behind and left the place.

However, a while ago it felt that terrifying presence vanish. It immediately came back to check and seeing the one responsible laid on the ground totally vulnerable, its eyes burned with hatred and revenge.

It used its second spell that it got after promoting into a level 4 skeleton mage; Fireball.

...

[Error! Error! An unusual situation has occurred.]

[You are under attack.]

[Your class Jocker has forcefully brought you out of the illusion.]

[You have left the illusion.]

[The test remains incomplete.]

Before I could understand what was going on, I woke up to the room with an unusual amount of light.

With great difficulty, I opened my eyes to see something akin to the sun before me.

"What's going on?", at first I couldn't understand what was happening before my eyes. How could the sun be before me?

But, I didn't have the time to ponder on what was going on since I felt goosebumps all over my body. My senses were tingling with such intensity that it felt like it was hammering my mind.

Ba... Dump-! Ba... Dump-!

Similarly in the silence of the dungeon, my heart was beating at the speed of a bullet train and with the sound of a drum.

As time passed, I figured out what was before me.

My eyes reflected the sight of a massive fireball growing bigger by the seconds, confusion and fear reflected in them.

What was going on here? Wasn't I just in my bed, sleeping with my beloved?

How come I am here now?

"Could it be this is that dream?"

I had a guess, since that was the only thing that made sense. However,

"Isn't this too realistic? Those dreams were never like this."

"Instead, I felt like I was a third person in them, but right now, I feel like I am living it myself."

Even though I felt conflicted about the situation I was in, something was urging me to run. To escape this place or to kill that which was trying to kill me, which I also agreed to.

I immediately got up and instinctively said, "Status."

I was confused when these unfamiliar words came out of my mouth. They came out so naturally. However, before I could think further, my eyes were attracted to a green screen that appeared before me.

[Bittu sah–Lv.4

[Soul power: 190/5000]

Race: Half-Human (Half- zombie)

Class: Jocker

Bloodline: None

Strength-> E

Agility-> C

Stamina-> E

Constitution-> C

Perception-> E

Spirit-> E

Unassigned stat: 6

Abilities: Torment techniques, The tomb]

Seeing the status, my eyes moved on their own.

Almost as if I have done it countless times, my eyes rested on the undistributed stat section. Seeing the numbers there, relief washed over me.

Immediately afterwards, my eyes moved to the agility section.

I felt that the only way to survive that growing fireball was to increase this stat, and I did just that.

"Put three stat into agility."

[You have used two undistributed stats. Agility: C -> B -> A -> S]

And! If I was late then, I will only survive if I had a powerful constitution.

"Put three stats into the constitution."

[You have used two undistributed stats. Constitution: C -> B -> A -> S]

Suddenly, I felt a strange energy enter my body out of nowhere. Its smoothing and calming effect made my tensed body relax. The highest concentration being in my legs.

The tingling sensation lowered a lot with both of my stats going up. But, it was still numbing.

Without wasting anymore time, I changed my focus back to the fireball.

However, what I saw had me curse out loud.

"Damn"

The fireball was coming towards him, rapidly closing in the distance.

Unknown to him, seeing him suddenly awake, the one casting the spell released it before it was raised to its limit. It didn't want to give this terrifying being any chance.

"I need to hurry."

Bittu sucked in a deep breath as he looked at the incoming fireball. With a tensed mind, he turned back and raced away from the enormous fireball that was almost as big as the path itself.

'I need to find a place to hide.'

However, his eyes widened in surprise as he looked at the closed door before him.

"The path is closed?!"

"Why is it closed?!", he yelled with surprise and anger.

Suddenly, he felt a cool sensation in his mind, which calmed him down.

Taking in a deep breath, with a determined face, he turned around.

'If I can't get away, then the only way to survive is to dodge the fireball.'

But the fireball was so huge that it almost covered the path. How could he dodge it?

He was grinding his brain to come up with an answer in the shortest time possible when his eyes were attracted to the corners that were the only safe place from the fireball.

Bittu steeled his nerves and raced towards the fireball. With his speed, that was way more than anything that he has ever imagined, he reached the corner of his left side in an instant.

But he has underestimated the power in the fireball.

Even the heat coming from the spell was leaving burn marks around his body. Bittu grinded his teeth as he endured the pain felt from the burns and pushed forward.

Right when he was before the fireball, he jumped towards the slim corner that was safe.

*sizzle*

*hiss*

*hiss*

Being so near, the heat coming from the fireball was so intense that his skin gradually began to burn.

He endured the pain and moved while being prone. He had just crossed half the distance when his eyes caught sight of a reddish orange skeleton.

He wasn't the only one looking at him; the skeleton was also looking at him.

They both had en eye contact for a second when suddenly the skeleton moved. It raised its staff and moved it in his direction.

Booooommm!

With the command of the skeleton, the fireball that was going away from Bittu burst.

"Shit"

Flames engulfed every corner of the path, including the skeleton.
