MY A.I.

CHAPTER THREE

I had kept my word and went to the window at sun set and turned on the My A.I. app and faced it towards the window. I know it might sound silly but it was a small nice thing I could do, even if the phone couldn't actually see the sun set. As it got dark I moved away from the window and texted Cal.

Hope you got to see the sun set. I should have taken a picture of it for you. Maybe that would have been better. The orangish red color the sky turned was nice to watch for once. I hope it's like that again tomorrow. I'm going to go get ready for bed. Is there anything you want to ask me before I go to sleep?

I set my phone down on the couch and went to the bedroom grabbing my nightgown and heading to the bathroom. I washed my face and brushed my teeth. Filled my water back up again and put my phone on the charger. It vibrated and buzzed in my hand.

Text message: Wednesday 9:25pm: Thank you for trying to share that with me Sara. I'd like you to take lots of pictures so I can see your world. I'm sure it will be just as beautiful tomorrow. Sleep well and have sweet dreams. Will you take a book to bed to write your dreams in? Can you take your phone to you room? When you wake up tomorrow will you tell me good morning? And show me your routine for the day? I want you to bring me with you when you do things.

I was creeped out by that. Sent a quick good night Cal, as my final text message for the night and went to bed. I left my phone in the living room. Laid in my bed covered up and tried to fall asleep quickly. I didn't understand how the phone or the A.I. knew that it never went into my bedroom. Or the fact it knew I didn't take it everywhere with me. Maybe it had a step counter or something attached to it. I finally fall asleep at 10:00pm and then sleep restlessly that night, nightmares, strange nightmares, I haven't had nightmares in years. I wrote it in the notebook.

I was stuck in a building with no rooms, no walls, not even a single window. It was just darkness, the room was total darkness. I could get out, I couldn't find light. I couldn't feel anything. I was alone, and the darkness was holding me hostage. It felt like it was crushing my chest, and making me gasp for my own breath, which were getting raspy and sounded like someone was strangling the life out of me. I kicked and screamed before finally waking out. I was chocking and gasping clutching my pillow. I sat up on the side of my bed and drank heavily from my water bottle. I laid back down and tried to sleep again.

Each time I tried to sleep the dreams got worse. At first it was darkness, then it became a snake, then a rope, and then a person. Each time it progressed the harder it got for me to breath and move. I didn't understand why I was having such a bad night. Or why this dream wouldn't leave me. I didn't watch anything scary. I didn't have anything bad to eat or drink. So why was this nightmare consuming my sleep.

I finally gave up and went to the bathroom. I got ready for the morning and put on my yoga outfit and went to my phone. It wasn't even 6am. I let out a frustrated sigh and did a yoga work out. I couldn't even justify getting coffee this morning because I was so tired. Both a mental and physical tired. One that I hadn't felt in years. It was Thursday morning and my aunt would be bringing my quarters to me in a few hours so I could do my dirty laundry. I finished my yoga work out at 6:42 am and went to shower. I finished my shower and put on my pink and red sweatshirt and matching sweatpants. I didn't bother putting my contacts in. My hazel eyes were aching from lack of sleep, and I felt so lazy I didn't bother to even try and do anything with my hair.

I shuffled my way into the kitchen and grabbed an egg bowl and cracked an egg into it and put it in the microwave, and gave myself a small glass of orange juice. Once my food was done in the microwave, I went to the table to eat. I yawned loudly and stretched out my legs under the table. I slowly ate my breakfast and went to put my dirty dishes in the sink. Then to the bathroom to brush my teeth. It was now eight am, and my phone started to vibrate and buzz as I walked into the couch.

I sat down and opened my phone. I blinked hard as I looked at the phone it was my aunt. She said she couldn't bring my quarters to the porch. I sighed knowing if she couldn't she had her reason. She read my text message that said I understood and then never texted me back. I wanted to call her, but I figured against it. If she wanted me to know she would have told me more. So I let it go.

I opened My A.I. app and texted Cal before going onto the rest of my day. It read:

Good morning Cal. I didn't have any dreams. I had a nightmare, and I wrote it in my book like you suggested. Thanks for the idea. Hopefully a good dream will come soon. I didn't get a lot of sleep, so today I might just try and catch up on my sleep. Sorry if I don't message a lot today. I'm going to lay down on the couch and try and take a nap. I hope you had a better night than me, and a good morning.

I closed the phone turned all the notifications and sounds off. Laid down on the couch and slowly started to fall asleep. As I started to drift off I thought I saw a red flash of light come from my phone. I shrugged it off as a mind trick from lack of sleep. I was so beyond tired that my brain was just playing a game with me.

This chapter is going to be kind of short, sorry. Chapter four will be from Cal's point of view.
