Then laughter filled the halls.
"Still the same daughter as ever huh? You're still thinking about that bet we made years ago?" My father said, laughing between each of his words.
"Just the same as ever Dad." I said, chuckling as him. He was already wheezing and wiping tears away.
"Come here you. You scared me there for a second kiddo. I knew you wouldn't do it though, considering all of the rumour I've heard about you." I walked towards him and he embraced me with a big hug.
"Yeah," I sighed. "I missed you."
"Me too kiddo. Sorry I had to leave you like that. It was all for a good cause you know."
"I know." I hugged back. After a few more seconds we parted and my father gave me a slight tap on the shoulder.
"C'mon. I picked Maxy up already. His ship came earlier than expected and I went looking for you to surprise him. We also have to talk about the Student Council thing alright?"
"Alright." I sighed, returning to my normal self and followed him towards the principal's office. As soon as we walked in, I felt something hug me at my waist. Looking down, my eyes fell upon a little boy staring up at me, smiling widely.
"I got you!" Maxy told me, clinging onto my waist and laughing. I smiled faintly and kneeled down to match his height.
"Hey bud! How are you? Did you get here safe?" I asked him while playfully ruffling his hair. Laughing, he grabbed my hand and pulled me deeper into the office. While talking about his trip and everything he had experienced the last time I saw him, we went past shelves of books, many screens, and a huge door slightly ajar. It revealed our fathers working quarters along with a great view of the stars. Pushing the door fully open, we went to the corner. There I saw dinosaur bags all stacked up. Some had fallen over while others were threatening to.
"Then Mom told me to pack my things. She said that I would have to stay here for a while and she kept reminding me to write to her. I told her that I didn't know how and-"
"How about we get your bags to our room. Then you can tell Grace and your other friends your story while I make snacks. Is that alright?" I asked him. Looking back at me with a skeptical face, I prepared for the coming question.
"What kind of snacks…" He said, crossing his arms and eyeing me playfully.
"Whichever one you want." I told him as I let a bag fall into my arms.
"Alrighty! Let's go!" He said. Knowing Maxy, he went for one of the bigger suitcases. I didn't bother to tell him to go for the smaller ones knowing that he would fuss about it. We walked out together hand in hand.
Then everything went blank. Red sirens were ringing. People were everywhere, running in one single direction. The escape capsules.
