Chapter 7 - I Thought Nothing of Him

RICHARDSON'S POV

"I never thought a day would come when I'd have to question kids, especially ones from my alma mater" the woman said smiling at

me.

So she is a product of Alpha Elite. That explains a whole lot, her confidence, the way she carries herself; it is almost impeccable.

"Right after this place I furthered my studies in Criminal Psychology," she continued.

Why was she telling me this? I don't care about her personal life. I don't care about her accomplishments.

She looked at me expectantly. Seeing there was no reaction, she furthered her statement, "tell me Richardson, what do you want to do after highschool?"

"I don't know, I haven't decided yet" I quickly replied. Really, what was her deal?

"Of course," she nodded, "there's no need to rush the thought, I actually felt the same way when I was your age"

I see what you're trying to do, it's not going to work. "Why are you telling me all this?" I asked looking directly into her eyes. I knew she wanted me to let my guard down, but that's not happening. I already told her what she needed to hear. All this is a waste of time.

"I just want to get to know you, Richardson" She told me, "you're a brilliant kid. I know how being shouldered with so much burden can do, especially to a boy your age."

"...you think I know something about Mr. Adu's death?" I responded, cocking an eyebrow. She cocks her eyebrow back and

leans forward.

"I don't just think, Richardson" she admitted in a low tone "I know you know something, and you're refusing to tell me."

"I already told you what you need to know"

"Let's say I believe you, I want you to tell me what your sentiment of Mr. Adu was."

Mr. Adu. That man was only interested in me not because I was intelligent, it wasn't my grades either. The truth is, my dad is a shareholder in the Alpha Elite Academy Committee(AEAC). Mr. Adu was only trying to ingratiate himself with me because of that in hopes that my dad will see his efforts in trying to help his son and gain promotion one way or another.

"I thought nothing of him" I finally replied her after a long pause.

The woman smiled, "your unflinching

expression is really impressive. I wonder how long you can keep it up."

She really is trying to get a rise out of me.
