The next few days I made more and more progress in my plans to become a Wizard Saint and to increase my Wind Dragon Slayer Magic.
In my plan to be a Wizard Saint I found some valuable information, the year. Right now it was X779, so around 5 years before the start of the series.
It was annoying because most of my information came during the time the show was running but it did give me some interesting opportunities.
The first one that popped into my mind was the Tower of Heaven. Right now it was basically only protected by adolescent kids who couldn't really fight.
I mean Jellal may be great and all but right now he was only a kid. Destroying the tower would net me enormous praise from the magic council for little to no effort.
I just had to find it and I could ask Erza that. It might be hard to get that information out of her but I think I can use my authority as a Rune Knight to get that information out of her.
Destroying the Tower of Heaven would also get a potential Wizard Saint candidate out of the way. Jellal who was pretending to be Siegrain became one of the 10 Wizard Saints.
So destroying the Tower and arresting him got him out of the running and guaranteed that sometime later there would be an open Wizard Saint seat.
This vastly increased my chances of becoming a Wizard Saint. A side benefit of the deed was that it would also help my reputation with Erza and therefore Fairy Tail if I helped her friends.
If I saved Lisanna as well then I basically became one of their most favored people. Being friends with the protagonists of the world would definitely help.
Maybe I could get a recommendation from Makarov, that would definitely improve my chances of becoming a Wizard Saint. Other than that I had critical information about each Dark Guild.
I know about the Eisenwald plot to get the demonic flute lullaby, the magic that each powerful member of the Dark Guilds uses, and the motivation of each character.
For example, I know that Hoteye, one of the members of the Oración Seis had lost his younger brother, Wally Buchanan, who was actually one of the kids stuck in the Tower of Heaven.
I could hopefully leverage this connection to maybe get him to spy for me in the movement of the Oración Seis. Overall now my canon knowledge would truly show its worth.
Other than my scheming to become a Wizard Saint I have also been training my Wind Dragon Slayer Magic as well as my Haki.
I was in an annoying situation where if I wanted magic to work I had to say it out loud, as I was not skilled enough to do it without talking.
It seems that there is a reason why mages yell their attacks out loud. Supposedly it also enhances the power of your attacks even after you have mastered them.
Fulmiur said that "Yeah that's why so many people yell out their attack. Even if you give an enemy a warning most consider it worth the extra power you gain along with it."
He was turning out to be pretty useful, I had sparred with him and he wasn't terrible, probably a B-rank mage which at his age was pretty respectable.
But compared to me he was useless, his real trait was that he was an encyclopedia of useful information about the magic, peoples, and history of this world.
Whenever I had a question I wanted to be answered he was the first one to who I would go. It also helped that hanging around him seem to improve my reputation.
People seeing me talk animatedly with this nice kid made them forget I was a murderer. It also made people remember that I was only 17 years old, which helped their view of me.
This has led to me sparring with a lot of the Rune Knights here giving them pointers and learning how to deal with the many different magics they had.
It was useful for the way I think, facing so many different types of magic and having to constantly adapt the way I fight.
I would also handicap myself to make it better training for me and the Rune Knights. At first, they were angry at my dismissal of their strength but after losing a few times badly they quickly got on board.
It did actually allow them to get a few wins here and there. Other than that I had a lot of progress in my Wind Dragon Slayer Magic.
I could do all of the basic moves like the Wind Dragon's Roar, Claw, Fist, etc. but what made me happy with my progress was the combinations.
Before my Rokuogan was sidelined because while it was probably my single most powerful attack its setup was way too annoying to do in an actual fight.
Now I could actually use it with one hand, it cost a sit ton of stamina and was not as powerful as the original but I could still penetrate defenses easily and deal deadly blows.
I think that if I worked on it hard enough those downsides should also disappear. Along with that the part that got me really excited was mixing my Renewal Taekwondo with this magic.
My Blue Dragon's Kick and all its variations fit so perfectly into Wind Dragon Slaying Magic that I would have assumed it was designed for it.
I could now send out wind dragon blasts with my fists, kicks, and even headbutts. Granted I did need to yell out its name but still, I was incredible massively improving my long-range capabilities.
A similar improvement happened with my Geppo and Rankyaku though not to such a noticeable degree. I could do much more powerful versions of it with much more flexibility.
That was basically the benefit, right now at its low level it mostly just allowed me to do moves I could previously use just more flexibility. It didn't help much in terms of pure power,
But my ability to eat the air around me has been my most focused skill. I would deliberately drive myself to exhaustion and physical pain to try and improve how quickly I can devour air.
Right now it still takes a while for me to go from tired to full energy. It was still fast but I hoped that one day I would be able to do it like I was breathing giving me truly infinite stamina.
Once I get rid of my need to say each move out loud and improve my devouring speed my combat strength will go through the roof.
Haki was also doing well but it didn't have as explosive growths. It was steady good growth but nothing explosive.
I did get used to Conquer's Haki however. I didn't use it much during spars as it would instantly knock out some of my opponents not giving them a chance to learn.
But for stronger opponents just the mental and physical pressure of Conquer's Haki put them off their game enough to make a moderately difficult fight into a cakewalk.
So with my reputation now much better and me integrating my new style into my fighting system, I was ready for any mission Barat would give me.
