Once I woke up I realized that I was back on the base in Magnolia. They must have transported me while I was asleep. Odd I thought that doing that to patients was dangerous.
Once I woke up I noticed that a nurse that was nearby noted my condition and dashed off. Damn, I wished I had some time to rest but I guess they need the report as soon as possible.
A man entered the room, it was Barat. He sat in the chair beside me and asked, "How was the mission?"
I chuckled then stopped as the motion sent shooting pains throughout my limbs. I said, "What does it look like? That I had a cakewalk?"
He sighed, "I know that I was a bit much for the first mission but the higher-ups wanted to know your approximate power."
"Sending you on an easy mission wouldn't really be able to test your limits to let us determine how powerful you were. This though lets us know exactly how concerned be about you."
I asked, "So how did I do on the assessment."
He laughed, "Pretty high. That massive dragon you summoned up to destroy the castle was truly impressive I wouldn't have thought you were capable of that."
"Your previous records showed no signs of you being capable of performing such a powerful area of effect attack. Do you learn it just recently?"
I nodded, "Yeah as I told you I had just gotten my Dragon Slayer magic so I wasn't that used to it, now I am better."
He said, "That's truly impressive, the experiment that they did on you back in the Balam Alliance must have really worked. I didn't think it was possible to progress so fast."
Sit, this body got experimented on. Is that what happened in the 3 months that I was MIA before I ran away from the guild?
What was the purpose? It sounds like it was meant to improve my ability to learn magic. But the system is doing that for me.
I guess this was maybe a way to explain how I could learn so abnormally fast by putting the blame on this experiment, not the system.
I nodded and said, "Possibly, I don't know much about the exact effect of the experiment. So maybe my explosive growth was due to that."
He nodded, "So how was the fight itself? You came back with so many injuries the doctors were surprised you were alive."
"Whatever tactic you did to stop your blood loss really helped or else even your ability to consume the air wouldn't have saved you."
I said honestly, "While the guild was annoying after my initial attack, only the elites were left. So I only had to face the 6 of them not their horde of followers."
"Luckily they didn't know how to work together and would constantly get in each other's way. If not the fight would've been much harder."
"Once I killed most of them however they initiated something called Fallen Dusk that erased their bodies and feed it to the demon. Do you know what that is?"
Barat grumbled, "This is why all those who associate with demons should die. That particular spell destroys the body and souls of those who are marked by it to feed the demon."
I was surprised, "Really then why don't the cults use spells like this instead of gathering multiple tons of rare material to summon a demon?"
He said, "It only because only the willing can be marked with a curse. They must willing to give away their soul to a demon without coercion or blackmail. It's what makes cultists so terrifying."
"Just a few of them are able to summon a demon much stronger than them so long as they are willing to sacrifice themselves. That is why our first rule is Never Suffer a Demon to Exist."
I nodded and asked, "Have you figured out where they got the demon from?"
Barat shrugged, "We did manage to get some documents from the only remaining building that it was apparently given to them by the Tatarous Guild of the Balam Alliance."
"Do you know anything about them?"
If I remember they were the guild made purely of demons. I didn't want to eliminate them just yet as the Rune Knights getting rid of the guild wouldn't improve my prestige much.
No, I would wait till I was stronger than with a group to Rune Knights lead the charge in and kill them. Plus this way more of the canon can be preserved.
I replied, "No not really. Most of the members of the Balam Alliance tend to be pretty private."
He nodded. He said, "Don't worry after such a powerful display of your power you will immediately from and initiate straight to a full-on Rune Knight."
"Now you will have more freedom and support from our organization. Your salary has also increased. So make sure to spend it wisely."
I nodded and smiled, "Thanks Barat. I wonder what will happen to the Mirror?"
He said, "It will put a secure location don't worry. That location holds many of the demons we have defeated like the demon Lullaby. So don't worry, it has never been penetrated."
The place that they kept Lullaby? Damn, that place was going to be stolen from in just 5 years. I guess I have to give props to the early villains of Fairy Tail, seems like they did something really impressive.
Barat left me to continue his other work and I sat there thinking about what I should do now. I wanted to train, it was the best time to learn magic.
Right now I was not burdened with needing to lead men into battle and had access to a massive library of books. The leaders also shouldn't bother me after I just did a massive mission for them.
I already have the antimagic one but what else should I learn? I don't want to spread myself too thin, it is better to be a master of one and adequate at the rest rather than just being good at a lot of things.
I decided that I needed something to improve my mental defenses and help command others. I knew telepathy magic existed but it did not seem that impressive in the show.
Only allowing people to talk into each other's minds. There was nothing showing it was used for any mental attacks or really defending against it. I thought of giving it a go though.
It wasn't really given the time to shine in the show s the person using it was not that powerful, so I probably had a lot of potential that I just didn't manage to see.
If it worked out I would the perfect magic for commanding and defending myself.
Instant communication between team members was an incredible skill. Imagine always knowing what your partner would do and what they saw, it would make coordination seamless.
I would also learn Requip magic as it seemed essential to all would-be mages. Having more storage was never a bad thing.
Though it did seem less secure than my inventory, as Barat seem to know how to detect that I had a Requip space, it was still incredible for the convenience it brought.
If I had it before I would've had a lot more potions than the 1 healing potion that I have now. Plus if I ever learned weapons it would allow switching between them mid-attack to confuse opponents.
That was enough on the plate for now, while I would love to learn runic magic, I wasn't sure that I had the time to do it.
4 new magics to learn was a lot. Most mages only specialized in 1 but the system helping accelerate how fast I learn skills would hopefully allow me to learn all of this.
I sighed, so many plans for the future but so little time. Even though 8 years seemed so long now I wished I had more to truly uncover all the wonders of Earthland.
