OLIVIA POV
The moment Elena called me and told me what she overheard at Emily's place, my world felt like it was spinning out of control.
Alex. My Alex.
The same man I laughed with, trusted, and dreamed about spending forever with, was somehow entangled in this mess. I couldn't breathe properly as I paced up and down my room, clutching my phone like it held all the answers to this nightmare.
"Elena, are you sure?" I asked for the third time, my voice cracking.
"I wouldn't lie to you, Liv," she said quietly, and that hurt even more because I knew she wouldn't.
I felt like my legs might give out. Memories of all the little things Alex had done over the past few months started to rush back to me, replaying like scenes from a horror movie.
The strange calls he always excused himself to take.
The times he asked way too many questions about my friendship with Elena.
