Genevieve walked aimlessly down the streets, she had no destination in mind, but she continued walking. Her head and heart were aching, she was finding it difficult to breathe and all she wanted at the moment was how to get this stuffiness off her chest.
She didn't want to think but she couldn't help but realize that her father was right when he warned her about Ben. She thought he was only after his money and wealth when he said that, she was too blinded by love not to see the truth glaring at her. All those times she will call Ben for her to come over and all those useless excuses, they were all signs, but no, she was too dumb to notice them.
'I won't let you off so easily for breaking my heart, Ben, I will make sure that you pay for this. You and that pathetic white.' She swore.
The air suddenly became chilly, she wrapped her hand on her body and rubbed her skin to drive the cold out. Eve looked at the street and realized that it was empty, there was no single one walking in the place. She suddenly became alert of her surrounding, she would rather have a broken heart than to get her heart broken and get r*ped in one day.
She increased her steps, continuously looking behind her. She was too scared to think of crying again, all she wanted was to leave this place, and once she was in the comfort of her home she could bawl her eyes out as long as she liked.
As Genevieve kept on walking, she saw a group of boys lurking about in the next street. Her heart almost flew from her chest, she one of them caught her standing there.
'Please don't come. Please.' She chanted in her head.
She looked by her left and sighed in relief when they didn't make any attempt to cross over, but who was she deceiving.
Immediately her racing heart calmed down, she noticed that two of the many boys were walking casually towards her. They both had their hands tucked in their pockets, both had a hoodie on and from where she was standing she could see a tattoo on their neck.
Genevieve stood there, shaking like a fish out of water. She closed her eyes and let out some curses, raining them on Ben and his bitch for putting her in this situation. There were two options in her mind while looking at the boys who were not more than six steps from her; it's either she stands there and wait for them to come attack her or worse r*ped her, or she run.
She weighed the options and decided to use the latter, she sprinted from there and then look behind her. She gulped when she saw that the two boys were also running after her.
'I'm in trouble.'
She kept on running and got to a place where she had to choose between going right or left, she hesitated before choosing the right path. She kept on running and wasn't bothered that she was doing it in heels, they were not that long, so it wasn't a problem for her. Genevieve looked at her back time to time and saw that one of the boys was gaining on her, she was getting tired and wanted to take a breather, but she couldn't just stop. Not now, not when there were monsters pursuing her.
Luckily for her, as she was running to the next street, she saw a car approaching her. Quickly, without waiting for the boys to gain on her, she waved her hands to stop the taxi. She closed her eyes as the light became too bright for them, Genevieve stood there until the car stopped in front of her.
"Miss, are you okay?" He asked concernedly.
"I saw you running down the other street and decided to come help you out, you know this place is not safe at this time." He further explained.
Genevieve was more grateful that he was this thoughtful, she let out a deep breath. She knew what the taxi driver had said was true, this place isn't that safe at night, and she should have known. If it wasn't for this taxi driver, she would have been in those bad boys' hands by now….
Thinking about those boys, Eve turned to her side, she saw the boys lurking around while they watched her. Without thinking, she opened the taxi door and jumped in.
She sat in the back seat and stayed silent for a while to calm her racing heart.
"Are you sure you are okay, miss?" The concerned taxi driver asked again.
She nodded and tapped his seat, "please drive mister. I need to leave this place." She begged, continuously staring at the boys through the glass window, the boys were now walking slowly towards the car.
"Please drive faster, mister!" She yelled, taping his seat more.
"Okay, I will." He ignites the car and looked at the boys through his rear glass, he sighed before driving out of there.
Genevieve's heart still wasn't settled even as they got out of that place, her head was feeling fuzzy, eyes dizzy from fear. Her mind was still unable to process the events of the night, from getting a marriage notification from her parents then she caught Ben, her boyfriend, cheating on her, and lastly she was almost r*ped if it wasn't for this kind stranger that helped her.
The driver looked at her through his mirror occasionally, he got nervous since she hadn't said anything. He wondered what happened to her that made her look this disheveled and heartbroken.
He cleared his throat and looked at the young Miss through his mirror.
"M… Miss, where should I take you?" He asked.
Genevieve let out a low sigh, where could she possibly go? Definitely not her parents' mansion or that scumbags house, she didn't have a friend so nope she did not have anywhere to go.
"Just drive, take me far away from this place." She sighed then rested her head on the back seat.
"Okay Miss." The car speed up.
Genevieve wrapped her arms around herself and let the silent tears pot out. This will be the last time she will cry for that scumbag, she just have to get the pain off her chest and then she will be fine.
The driver glanced at her for the last time, and he felt pity for her when he saw her tears pouring out, but she wasn't making a sound.
'Something/ Someone must have hurt her badly.' He thought.
