Chapter 86 - 9th Unit

I wonder if y'all enjoy the chapters since I'm focusing on slice of life and character interaction to establish better relationships while also not bombarding everyone with endless action.

Again, I have colleges so my update will be random but I'll try to stay active.

11:15 Am Japan, Mato, 9th Unit dormitory

How many years has it been when she felt the familiar experience that had happened almost two decades ago? It happened to her trices producing three wonderful daughters that she loved wholeheartedly despite how she treated them. Belonging to a long line of powerful and talented families that always produced exceptional members was disappointing to her youngest daughter. She doesn't have any noteworthy attributes like their family where her talent and the ability she obtained is laughable compared to her other siblings. The said ability was certainly powerful but its weakness outweigh everything making it virtually useless.

However, she believed that her youngest daughter had more potential to offer and tested her spirit that seemed to remain unwavering even after the mental,physical and verbal abuse she experienced. As a mother it pains her to see them hurt but she had faith in her youngest daughter therefore always distance herself and let her overcome everything if possible. It was cruel but this was the best way to help her daughter.

And her faith was worth the investment to witness her youngest daughter's growth that was able to push her further than anyone beside a certain individual. She fought through it all despite the wide gap between them and kept fighting even knowing her chances were slimmed. It made her feel proud when she surpassed her limits and unlocked her true potential. Even if her daughter lost against her it was enough to make her feel proud.

This was all thanks to the man who her daughter chose. He was an interesting man having met him under an alter ego that eluded them. A man shouldn't have any power and keep up with the woman who obtains ability yet he was the living evidence of the infinite potential of humans.

He displayed a vast library of fighting styles that baffled even her. She fought him when he was only 14 years old and it would have been a difficult fight if he was serious in killing her yet he engages in battle simply using a style that he hasn't mastered but able to keep up with her. It was like fighting a demonic Oni, a black Oni.

To describe him at that time then it was violences and ruthless acting in his killer impulse for battle yet felt it was rather tame compared to before when she saw the victim of his rampage on Mato. The next time he heard of him was when they learned about a man staying with her youngest daughter's unit.

She heard that he has an ability and was immediately reminded of his alter ego despite some nagging thought making her not think was able to somehow resist it thinking that he might be the reason why she couldn't conclude it was the same person despite the obvious evidence. She didn't think too hard since having him contained was far better than letting him rampage.

And the time they met in person made her taken aback how he was a lot more tame than raging demon Oni as before. He was more relaxed and better controlled, seemingly going through intense mental and spiritual training that resulted in a more monstrous transformation. She witnessed him full more fighting style that decimated any opponent that came his way.

It a bit surprised her that he became her daughter's lover but was happy for her and saw how much of an influence on her base from their fight. She was curious what makes him special and doesn't mind seeing his potential. Though, it doesn't mean this is the only reason why she wanted to know more about him and interested in what kind of person he is.

He investigated a little more about him after their first true meeting and wasn't surprised when learned that he was an above average student that excels in every subject. Her attention focuses on his history of being a delinquent during his middle school where he was known throughout their region. He's been titled as "Indra" as he was like a raging storm when fighting.

Then read the report about his personality and listened as being kind and caring despite his reputation. He never bullies anyone but would join a fight when he gets the chance. This made her note that he was a battle junky and thrill seeker. However, he has integrity and morals that are admirable.

"I still don't know why Tobera-sama let the two of you get pregnant when there is still the issue with the Eight Thunder God." Her thoughts were interrupted by another woman and turned to face her, who happened to be her eldest daughter, Maia. She rubbed her abdomen feeling the growing life within her that was a mixture of the man and lover who helped her daughter who she took the chance to sleep with as it would be a waste not to take him. She looked at her mother, Fubuki, the 9th unit chief.

"Ara~ don't tell me you regret taking your first? He was a charming and interesting man that has the power that no one has. I doubt you'll find someone of that caliber." Fubuki honestly doubts that someone with a rich history such as his would be found elsewhere, especially as he is one of the wealthiest men in the world.

"....Of course not, I am interested but what I'm trying to say is that having you carrying a child is extremely dangerous and having you out of commission would be disastrous." Maia stated seeing how her mother was one of the strongest and skilled Unit chiefs that without her then they would lose a powerful asset against the war with the Eight Thunder God.

"Well, what's done is done. And this isn't the first time I fought while pregnant." Fubuki was a strong woman and still fought as a chief during all of her pregnancy from Maia, Yachiho and Himari. If anything she became more strong during that time having better control and mastery over herself.

"But this is different, our enemies can think and formulate plans. It would be a lot harder than normal Shuuki." Maia remarked considering that over many years most Shuuki would act upon killing and can easily be predicted on what kind of action they'll take but their enemies think and act like humans making it harder to know what exactly they are planning on doing.

"You're overthinking things, you may have forgotten that other countries also formed their group against us hoping to gain a hold of the resources we have but failed." Fubuki reminded her eldest daughter of the recent terrorist attack during the Chief Assembly a few weeks ago. It wasn't the first nor will it be the last.

"....Fine, let's change the topic then. I heard that Tobera-sama decided to come out of retirement to help out." Maia mentioned how their carefree former family head was taking action in reducing the chance of their enemy winning.

"Indeed, Mother has been sent to the 10th unit to assist us. The sudden plummet of the Mato disaster had been rather suspicious. There is a high chance they're planning something big." Fubuki said noticing how they're wasn't much of Shuuki roaming around and causing havoc. It would be ideal if they did because it would make it easy to reduce their number but now they are only able to find a few dozen.

"I'm not too keen on what the commander intended and Lena towards chief Uzen's suggestion. Has Homare returned from her hunt?" She commented her displeasure towards Ren Yamashiro, the commander of Anti-demon Corp in letting their enemies target them instead of finding them.

"I believed she'll retu-" Before she could finish her words heard a knock at the door and turned to find someone bursting in the door.

"Hey, look who came to visit!" The energetic and carefree former family head of the Azuma, Tobera arrived accompanied by the aforementioned Homare and a familiar young man, Yuuki Wakura.

11:00 Am Japan, Mato, 9th Unit dormitory

Yuuki spends several minutes at the 6th Unit chatting with Sahara then soon heads to 9th unit Dormitory and upon arriving the place doesn't have much differences than other dormitories having a more western style architecture similar to Anti-demon Headquarters. He spread his senses, finding the people that he was looking for.

'I wonder why they have this huge dormitory with only a handful of members.' Yuuki pondered noticing how little the number of Anti-demon Corp consisted of three to four members. Then again there too few people would risk their lives for the sake of others considering being an Anti-demon Corp is a dangerous job and quality is always better than quantity.

'Then again, most information gathering and assistance should come from the police and military.' He thought to himself, seeing that it's best to leave those tasks to the professional and the Anti-demon Corp should focus on getting stronger.

'Still, it shows how arrogant Ren Yamashiro is when he only has Ginna-chan as a member.' It was clear to him that the current commander is full of herself to only have Gonna who has the ability to make powerful barriers and Heal the injuries inside. This meant the main forces of the 10th unit mostly came from Ren Yamashiro.

'Though I can't deny she has some merit for being arrogant.' Yuuki can't deny that her ability was powerful that virtually makes her invincible but her ego reminded him of his former self that was driven by his ego to fight thrilling battles that left him act selfish and self centered at times.

"Is there something wrong?" A voice, Tenka who stood beside him made him regain his senses and shook his head.

"No, I was just lost in my thoughts." Yuuki answered and then sensed someone coming from behind him.

"Oh, didn't expect you to visit us this early." It was none other than Tobera wearing an Anti-demon corp uniform. She was rather appealing, having a certain beauty to her that was difficult to describe with words alone.

"How are you doing here?" Tobera wasn't alone and was accompanied by Homare who tried to compose herself, making her recall the time they did it. She can't help but feel a little bit flustered. Her rough tone somewhat hides her true feelings.

"He obviously misses us and can't wait to get a piece of us again~" Tobera gave a wide grin unbothered by having another chance to experience what they did the other night. Even if she got what she wanted doesn't mean it was enough for her and can't help but want him to be an official Azuma member.

"Maybe but I'm here to give you some bento I made. I'll be gone for a few days to visit my parents and make some for the 6th unit then I thought to make some for you to enjoy." Yuuki answered and made the two pause recalling how delicious his cooking was, surpassing any of them. It is almost a lie that he was not talented when he was virtually a natural but this is simply the result of his sister ingraining cooking skill to him.

"Oh? It's the perfect time for you to arrive when I'm getting hungry. Maybe it's because I'm pregnant with your child." Tobera normally can sustain herself by absorbing lifeform around him but she started to feel her own life form being taken by the life within her. Tenka was certainly jealous that someone else took the first of carrying his child but they will have all of the time in the world later.

"Congratulations, I'm quite jealous that you got the first." Tenka may be jealous but can't be mad and simply accept the way things are. Tobera smiled rubbing her abdomen and can't deny she felt happy to get another chance of having a child.

"Hehehe~ sorry for that, can't let someone like him go after all he showed. That aside, how we headed inside and met up with my daughter." Tobera suggested.

"That would be great." Yuuki said as they all headed inside the 9th unit dormitory.
